I bet once the pedestrian safety and other crash test laws get figured into the design, it becomes a lot more bloated. No way it goes into production looking as clean and fit as it does. I'd say I'm pessimistic but it happens with every car

I'm going to speculate they meant 3 model years, so we'll see it spring 2014 at dealers.

that's amazing it's lower than the first gen NSX, it doesnt look like it would be.

the 1st gen NSX sits pretty low to the ground too, so I can imagine how low this thing really is.

I think "Within 3 years" puts us at a fall 2014 launch.

I find it hard to get excited about a car that's at least 2.5 years off. Nevermind the fact that I can't afford it anyway. So much can change in that time.

Like the side profile a lot better than the original NSX which had a truncated roofline which made for a big arse.

The rear is hot but the front, not so much.

3 yrs, tho, is a long way to bring this thing to production.

Recent Corvette concepts did not gain much from the actual production models.
This is much cleaner than the movie concept -
you can say its more Stark !

He did say "global launch within 3 years" Not to parse his statement too closely, but could this include the possibility that a NA launch could come sooner?

The redesigned NSX is nice looking. I would however, refrain from calling it a super car when it's only packing a V6. I don't see it having any more HP than the V6 G37 coupe, which is hardly a super car.

Agreed, I would call the new NSX a daily commuter, and also the Nissan GT-R and the Porsche 911 only have 6 cylinders and i'd consider them akin to the likes of a V6 camry or a V6 accord but more expensive and with less seats

This second video does a good job of showing the various boost and regenerative braking modes of the hybrid SH-AWD system. I can't wait to see how this thing will handle in reality. It should be amazing...

oooo does this mean we get to drive in in GT5 soon?

What exactly is a super car?

Isn't it a vehicle that has extraordinary performance, a high price tag, usually mid-engined, produced in low numbers (most of them being hand-built) and possesses exotic looks?

If so, the NSX surely qualifies. V6 or not.

Just got back from downtown. Wow, just wow.

It is actually much nicer than expected in person - great proportions. Standing next to it, it felt smaller than the Gen1 so it will be interesting to see how they keep the weight down on the production version with the added SH-AWD and hybrid system. See some nice elements similar to the recent LOTUS concepts. The only thing that bugs me is the uni-brow power plenum, that's got to go.

Too tired to post up pics tonight, but will get some up tomorrow. Also snapped a few shots of the RDX and ILX. ILX actually was much nicer than expected too, it doesn't look like a tarted up Civic at all.

Grabbed a USB giveaway (had to ask the booth girl nicely), will take a look at that and report too.

As a side note, the ATS and new Fusion were pretty sharp too.

So here is the official press release about the NSX. Don't know if it was posted before, but I'm getting tired and need to get some rest for tomorrow. :tired:

The dynamically-styled NSX Concept gives an indication of the next great performance vehicle from the Acura brand. Making use of lightweight materials and a mid-mounted V-6 engine, the NSX Concept employs several new technologies for Acura, including application of Acura’s innovative new Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® (Super Handling All Wheel Drive™) hybrid system.
Utilizing a unique 2 Electric Motor Drive Unit with a Bilateral Torque Adjustable Control System, the all-new hybrid all-wheel-drive system can instantly generate negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering. Acura anticipates the new Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® will deliver handling performance unmatched by previous AWD systems. In addition to the handling benefits of the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® system, a powerful next-generation VTEC® V-6 engine with direct-injection works in concert with a dual clutch transmission with built-in electric motor to create supercar acceleration while offering outstanding efficiency.
“This Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system will make NSX the ultimate expression of Acura’s idea to create synergy between man and machine,” said Takanobu Ito, president and CEO of Honda Motor Co., Ltd. “The NSX will make the driver one with the car to enhance dynamic driving abilities without getting in the way.”
While most supercars opt for brute force delivered from a large engine, the NSX Concept champions the true racing philosophy of an extremely favorable power-to-weight ratio.
“Like the first NSX, we will again express high performance through engineering efficiency,” added Ito, who led the development of Acura’s first NSX supercar. “In this new era, even as we focus on the fun to drive spirit of the NSX, I think a supercar must respond positively to environmental responsibilities.”
The new Acura supercar, expected to debut in the next three years, will be developed by an engineering team led by Honda R&D Americas, Inc., and manufactured in Ohio, at a yet to be named facility.

Three letters GTR. V6(TT) not a super car? nah just a super car killller....

In 3 Years this design will be old...Acura needs to move it up and ensure those Ohio folks know how to build a 6 figure car...

It's not all about HP and V8's my friend. Many a 6 cyl. have been packed into supercars...

Also, I like where Acura is going so far. As others have already mentioned... I'll reserve final judgement until the production cars hit the pavement (HSC concept anyone?), but so far so good. It will take a lot to move me away from the R8... but at least they seem to be on the right track. The ILX is interesting as well...

Seems to look good overall.

I do not like the crease in the center of the rear.

And I think this design will age fairly quickly as opposed to the original which is somewhat timeless.

I like all three. I hope they can price it to compete with the other brands. Might be wishful thinking...

When was the GTR ever considered a super car? It sells for high 5 figures. The M5 or many of the MB AMDs pack more punch. Many who own exotics and even the LFA would snicker at the GTR. Maybe an average-joe supercar. Just saying.
