Honestly wasn’t expecting a Mini from all the rumors.

So, someone at Apple purchased and uses their tools. So what?

Apple and Samsung (and others) sue each other left and right while still doing business with one another. It's business, it's the way the world works.

The M1 MacBook Pro earned a multi-core Cinebench score of 7508, and a single-core score of 1498, which is similar in performance to some of Intel's 11th-generation chips.

Comparatively, a 2020 16-inch MacBook Pro with 2.3GHz Core i9 chip earned a multi-core score of 8818, according to a MacRumors reader who benchmarked his machine with the new R23 update that came out last week. The 2.6GHz low-end 16-inch MacBook Pro earned a single-core score of 1113 and a multi-core score of 6912 on the same test, and the high-end prior-generation MacBook Air earned a single-core score of 1119 and a multi-core score of 4329.

Verge says that they're amazing and extremely powerful and have insane battery life, they'd be 10/10 laptops if not for the webcam that still sucks. Also iOS apps suck but x86 emulated apps run great and will be even better when optimized for the Apple chips

Got my Mac mini up and running. The crazy thing is, for an ARM architecture transition, it's amazing how easy the whole thing is. When I downloaded MS Office, the machine said "FYI: This App is going to have to use Rosetta". I said "OK" and that's the last I heard of it.

Little thing is dead silent.

Edge on Mac has been out and is pretty. good. They pulled the M1 Chrome version because it was crashing.

I hope the 16" will support more than one external monitor. Otherwise I'm going to ride this 2015 at work forever.

The first batch were low end machines. Next step will be more powerful and most likely will allow more then 2 monitors.

Low end... so what were the previous ones then?
Sure.. the early 2020 MBA and early 2020 13” MBP only supported one 6K or one 5K display as well, but they also supported two 4K displays. 🤷🏻‍♂️

anyways since I just got my Mini I’m in no rush or need to upgrade them. I’ll be waiting for 2nd or 3rd gen.

Yea he’s testing that stuff later with the 13” MBP.

he usually tests things like Canon Cinema Raw lite, red raw, black magic raw, prores raw and a bunch of codecs from mirrorless cams.

The R5 footage is a big one because even his Mac Pro with afterburner card can’t play it back smoothly.

I need to stop watching these review videos. Making me sad with my 2018 i7 mini.

I could always give it to my mom as an upgrade to her 2011 model and then pick up a new mini

I have no regrets selling my early 2020 Air for this Air. Its amazing. I would say that non-optimized apps run about the same as the old one, which was still pretty good. Optimized apps run better then my 16 inch i9.

I have a ton of family who I have been telling to hold off as long as possible with Apple Silicon upcoming.

That changes now, of course. The MacBook Air is the machine 99% of Apple customers have been waiting for.

I took my 2016 15" MBP to the Apple store yesterday because the keyboard has been failing for a while and I had one month left to take advantage of the extended warranty. pretty suite to get a new keyboard and battery for nothing, 4 yrs after purchase

After finding out I would be without computer for 7-10 days, I immediately purchased a base model M1 Air. The keyboard is really nice, but takes much getting used to coming from the scissor one. The computer is ridiculously quick for such a cheap machine. Haven't got into trying to edit video etc yet, I only got it set up last evening. I do find myself missing the touchbar believe it or not.

Not sure if I'll keep it or return it, I had been intending to return it when my MBP is back, but....
