Never used a Mac regularly until I started here and well, couldn't care less
Actually, if it - or anything for that matter, as I am just a lowly peon-class worker bee - were up to me, the butterfly switch would have never made it past industrial design. That's just me though.
I think I'm still going to wait for the pro model but this is great for most people. I can finally recommend MacBook + expansion
The only 2 ports kills it for me especially when one is taken up by charging.
I'll need to wait until they drop the 13in pro w 4 ports
im heavily debating it.The MBA sounds like it should be enough for my needs. Especially now since it has the Iris Plus graphics and the T2 chip for HEVC encode/decode.
i also just tried using my coworkers 2018 13” MBP. Omg I HATED the keyboard.
Geez I didnt realize how small the logic board is.
Also whats with the bonehead move on not connecting the fan to the CPU. not even with a heatpipe.
Plenty of reviews show thermal throttling because of this.
Granted those tasks they tested with are not the intended use of the MBA, but a simple heat pipe would mitigate the throttling.
ooh they also updated the base models with the magic keyboard. Base models still have 8th gen Intel CPU.
Starting storage for the base is 256GB.
Starting storage for the 4TB Port model is 512GB.
I would love to get a 16" with mid-range spec. Just need around $3200.
16GB 3733MHz LPDDR4X memory is $100 from Amazon etc. They're still charging out the a$$ ($400) for the upgrade.
yea, its a shame the RAM is soldered.
However I was reading an article how soldered RAM is more secure because something like someone could freeze the ram sticks and then retrieve all the data off them.
but then again I don't really deal with sensitive stuff so I presume the risk and chance of it happening to me is low or close to zero.
No Wifi 6 though, and the screen is the same. And we're in the middle of a pandemic. Hopefully the next upgrade has wifi 6 and 4 cores in the base model. If this thing is gonna last me 10 years I want it to have that revolutionary wifi before I jump in, I don't want to be stuck for 10 years with the old wifi. Other than that the quad core with 16gb RAM and 500GB storage looks good to me
Lately since maybe mid March my computer has been randomly spiking up to 100º when doing basic tasks like browsing the web or watching youtube (non-4K, it already heats up when viewing 4K in Chrome)
I've already taken it apart and blew out all the dust. Don't think i want to take the next step on replacing the thermal compound.
Really wish Apple updated the 2020 Mac Mini with 10th gen processors
And how the hell can you call it a 2020 model when the processors are the same, only the storage has been increased.
Wish I was in a position to buy but I'm not complaining.
My 2015 MBP has had the bloated battery issue for a few years now where the entire body is bowed because of it and it doesn't sit flat. So but hey things could be worse.
So my wife gave me her old Air Pods that are only 6 months old, because she just had to upgrade to the Air Pod Pros. Anyway, I'm liking the Air Pods, even if I hook it up to my PC and Android phones.
Recently, I've been having problems with streaming on my Windows 10 PC. Whether it's Youtube, Youtube Music, Netflix, Podcasts, they would just freeze. Other internet functions work fine. I have plenty of speed when checking Speedtest. And my streaming on my phones work fine as well. Only way to resolve the problem is to reboot the computer.
I just realized that the problems started to occur when I began to sync the Air Pods to the PC with BT. Coincidence? Maybe. But very odd.
I'm going to throw the Air Pods into a vault and see if this helps.
