Boom!

Looks like the Messaging app is gone! I hope it has been integrated into Hangouts cause then it would be like BBM, iMessages for iOS and Android.

That feature has been replicated with custom kernels with other variations to wake the phone via other gestures. On my Nexus 7 (1st gen) I have it with the latest M-kernel and it works great.

Lol. True. That Nexus 5 looks hot right now. I hope they don't disable the listening core of the S800 chips so if Google doesn't implement the always listening mode like in the Moto X, we can always install OpenMic to replicate it without killing the battery of the phone.

I have to say the Nexus 4 has aged the best followed by the Nexus One. My Galaxy Nexus hasn't aged that well and the Nexus S didn't last that long either. Although I do have to say, installing the BigMem kernel (lose 1080p video capturing) on my Galaxy Nexus has brought it up to par to my HTC One in terms of usability. Then again, its my spare/tinkering phone at the moment so I don't have much apps installed on it. Just running CM 10.2 and a few apps to use when I'm flashing things on my HTC One.

I've turned my Galaxy S into a dedicated music player for the time being since they got rid of the trick to switch internal and external storage in 4.3. My Galaxy S is stuck on 4.2 but has Voodoo sound and the DAC on that device is unmatched by my other devices, including the HTC One.

The Nexus 5 will have the always on hot word for Google Now, but probably not when the screen is off since it would drain the battery more.

Obviously best Nexus to date is the Nexus 4. Until the Nexus 5 ;|

I won't be trading my N4 for the N5. Just not as huge an upgrade.

That's what the extra dedicated listening core is for on the Snapdragon 800s. Just like Motorola's dedicated listening chip, its also present on the Snapdragon 800 just as long as Google doesn't disable the extra chip. Why it hasn't come on the newer devices yet (like the G2, Note 3 and Xperia Z Ultra) is probably because the manufacturers are waiting for Google to implement an API for it with KitKat. Any other device without the 800 or the the Moto X chip will drain battery if they try to implement always on listening with the screen on or off.

The matte finish on the rear is quite the fingerprint magnet. My glass back Nexus 4 doesn't even look like that!
Also really hate the reverting to the old lock screen clock style. I hope you can select the 4.2 version still.

They just need to announce the phone already. There's been enough leaks that we're not gonna learn anything new lol. The public is ready for this!!

justnspace you think its tomorrow? I thought Artem (android police) debunked that rumor? They havent even sent out invitations!! Unless they are just going for an online reveal like the Nexus 4...

tsxy spill the beans!!! But yea seriously, we know everything about the hardware no surprises there. I expect some surprises in kitkat, but those are probably going to be extinguished before the reveal.

While at Sams to do some grocery I thought I will preorder the Galaxy note 3....the guy at the desk said they have it in stock and after looking into my account he said that I am not ready for an upgrade yet....

I remember Best Buy and ATT confirmed that I can upgrade every year when I switched from iphone to the galaxy note...So I called ATT....

The guy on the call was very helpful....he initially spoke to me about ATT NEXT and I told him am not interested in that and what else can he do to assist me....I also said if I get the Nexus phone right from Google and dont use the ATT upgrade will he credit me $30/month....he instantly said "NOOOOOOOO" LOL....

So finally he told me he can ship out a White Note 3 to me and nothing in my contract/plan will change....he added that he will waive the shipping fee and told me that he will charge me $199+tax since I have been a loyal customer....He added that he will waive off the upgrade fee ($36).....

I told him "I love you bro"

Guess it was a nice call LOL

I used to get that kind of customer service from ATT, until this year when they screwed me by charging upgrade fees for the first time in 13 years. T-Mobile needs to freaking get their coverage areas up and running faster.

^^^ brother funny enough, I recently started getting exceptional service from them....

just recently, the network was out in my area and I called them (using my landline) and she said, "Sir the network is down in your area"...I asked her an ETA for the fix and she said "I dont know, but how about I credit you, the full months bill"

my family bill is around $150 (for 2 lines)....I have never loved ATT more...

EDIT: FEDEX guy just dropped something at the door

dont keep your hopes up bro, although I really hope you're right

Also be prepared to use two google accounts to order or something because they may limit the number of devices you can order. Not sure if they did for the N4, i forgot.

$150 for two people our bill is $140 for four. BUT that does not include the costs we're paying for devices on top of that. Not sure what that comes out too with the devices included. Think we're paying off a Note 2, GS3 and GS2 still, so add $20 for each I guess?Maybe the GS2 will be cheaper though or its already payed off.

So our current bill is $213 for 4 of us. That includes unlimited talk and text. My dad has 4.5gb data+tethering. My bro and I have 2.5gb+tethering, and my mom has the "free" 500mb included data.

This plan we have configured costs $140. The device installments account for $60. The rest are general tax and fees. In 7 months our plan will drop $40 and in 10 months our plan will drop an additional $20.

we didn't even get any additional discounts or anything i believe, its just the standard price.

http://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-p...tab-navigation

I hope lots more people flock to tmobile. This will allow them to bulk up their network. They're already doing so, but its no where close to the other big 2. But its getting better.

I was on tmobile when I was in NY...the network there was awesome....

but in the midwest their network sucks

Sprint has the best network in KC (headquarters) and they are cheap, but I travel pretty often and both Tmob and Sprint start getting messy....I get a 20% discount from work and after seeing how much you pay, I might try to get my work pay for my phone

I totally dig that feature much more than feeling the button to check for messages. But I wonder if this features trickles the battery down a bit more? Intuitively it seems like it would because something has to keep cycling to sense the knock-knock.

Artem (Android police guy)

I'm starting to think Google will release an SDK preview ahead of the sources or any Nexuses and final KitKat features. Maybe this is what the rumors around the developer circles have been about regarding October 15th...

That would make sense - Google has done this to the Honeycomb SDK before http://android-developers.blogspot.c...d-updated.html and the Cupcake SDK http://www.macworld.com/article/1139...dkpreview.html.

"We encourage you to update your apps as soon as possible to provide your users the best experience on Android. To help you make the changes, we'll soon be providing the necessary SDK components for Android 4.4 that allow you to compile and test your changes on Android 4.4. Stay tuned!" - http://android-developers.blogspot.c...d-updated.html.

The question remains - how soon?
Hope it happens!
