Galaxy round is kinda pointless, especially if its going to be more expensive than a note 3. The form factor does look nice. But thats really all it has going for it.

so, this is the flexible screen that the whole hype was about?? It's a fixed curved screen... how is this any different from the curved screen of the Galaxy Nexus from 2 years ago? Or the Nexus S from 3 years ago? The only different is that it's curved the other direction.

It's nothing but a novelty effect.

It's a ground breaking invention for sure, but just not the right time to introduce it into today's devices.

Is that reflected on the galaxy round? I never heard samsung say anything of it being more durable in the press release. Then again I didn't read it but no blog posted about it that I read

Wow did you know that Samsung doesn't offer wireless charging out of the box you have to buy a new backplate for it which cost $40. I think thats stupid especially when it says its capable of wireless charging

Crazy....on a side note, for a guy named 'Gadgets Guru', the video looks like it was filmed with a potato...

will the round even be available in the US!?
right now, its only a korean release, right?

so, the newest hot phones are the note 3, nexus 5 and possibly the S5.

Well, if you are talking about only in the US and want to take one from almost every manufacturer then it would be Moto X, G2, Note 3, and Nexus 5.

Xperia z1 might be announced soon for a US carrier if you want to go contract.

Or you could just buy the Nexus 5 straight from Google and then use the T-Mobile $30 a month plan...... or any of their other plans that don't require you to pay for a phone you didn't buy from them. Watch out for T-Mobile's overpriced version of the Nexus 5 though if you want to go pay for the phone plan.

They offered the Nexus 4 in stores last year. But be warned, they were selling it for $500, while google sold it for $300. So you can pay installments but in the end you're spending $200 more. With Google, you're paying in full, but the price is already subsidized by them so its a lot cheaper.

oh wow, that sounds a lot better than 600 dollars.
now, that Im off contract, all my phones would be about 600, but divided into 24 months.

when does the nexus 5 come out?
I think, thats the one i'll get.

and do we know the manufacture of the Nexus 5 yet?
I really enjoy the nexus 7!

Let me say that there's been no pricing for the Nexus 5 released yet. The Nexus 4 was $300/350. So we're all betting on Google to do it again. If I took a guess, I'd probably say there may be a $50 increase.

But yea Tmobile doesn't subsidize phones anymore. Google should do it to there's. Nexus 5 hasn't been revealed yet so again everything is rumors, but look for a reveal around Oct. 31st. And then a release date a couple weeks after that, I presume. LG is making the Nexus again. Also be warned, you need to buy this phone the instant it goes on sale if you want a chance at getting it soon, looking at google's history with the N4.

So Tmobile announced that you get free data/text when you visit other countries. (100 countries are supported by this)

Thats pretty cool, especially for those that travel a lot

Like I said. The technology is not ready.

What you see there is just a screen. Where's the capacitive touch technology?

LG is making the Nexus 5. It will have latest everything - think LG G2 specs but different design and less MP camera, but still as good. Announcement should be next week or so, and then goes on sale in November.

You might as well go hands-on test the other phones to see what you like/don't like about them.

Not so cool when you read the fine print. Data is limited to 2G, and if you want higher speeds (which will be capped with limits) you have to pay. Not as much as other carriers, but still more expensive than buying a local SIM card.

Sony Xperia Z1 for T-Mobile USA:

Nexus 5 with KitKat:

I think it is stupid if they only have the transparent status and nav bars for the lockscreen and launcher. It should be for everything, or at least hidden when doing stuff fullscreen.

I do like the ability to say "OK Google" from anywhere, unless it is limited to the Nexus 5.
And love the new wallpapers!

The swipe from the leftest most screen edge to launch Google Now makes me think that Google is getting more out of Moto than Moto did out of Google in that buyout.

The Verge was just speculating how Sony won't bring the Xperia Z to USA since they want to "fortify their Japanese and Euro markets". Let's go ATT so that way Xperia Z2 in 2 years hits ATT

Why would you be laughing at that strategy? It makes total sense for Sony. Look at all the other brands that tried to enter/last in the US phone market and fail, or exist in the confines of being reduced to carrier's mangled slaved budget classified phones.

Sony has always been big in Asia (mostly Japan) and Europe. Make sure they have a strong grip there and then only when they feel they can finally make an impact in the messed up US phone carrier market, they will pour money and make a real big push. No point in wasting money for multiple failed attempts when you can just save that cash for other profit endeavors, and make a bigger, more effective push later.

p.s. The Verge is wrong anyways because the Z was already brought to the USA.

I know I like Samsung products.
the note 3 and the upcoming S5, I know I would like.

the G2 with the odd button on the back, is kinda weird. I do know that its a powerhouse, and the Nexus 5 would be similar in power.

Thanks again, luster

I wonder what would happen if they merged the Moto X's dimple and the G2's button placement in the back together. That would be awesome! I know people that own Moto X and love the dimple placement. Would be cool to have it be both capacitive and an actual button in a dimple.

I've never had the G2 in my hands so I can't speak for it no matter how useful it looks. The knock-knock feature to turn your screen on is amazing and I wish more companies would innovate like that.

The only thing I like about the G2 is that it has no physical buttons except for the back. Triple tap the screen to wake. But that button sure is oddly placed... And it's an LG, so Blahhh!

Been so busy haven't had time to catch up on here. Been rocking 4.3 on my HTC One. Still love this phone but that Nexus 5 has me interested if the prices are true.

Anyone try out Themer by MyColorScreen yet?

Its in open beta and they posted the following code if you want to get in on it:

Code:
MSTRCD
^It's good for 40,000 uses. Not sure why they don't just release it at this point but what do I know. Lol. Pretty good app for those who don't want to tinker every little detail and want to just try out themes for Android.

I realized that most of what 4.4 brings are from Touchwiz and MotoBlur.....the good stuff that is - the dots on the bottom, transparent bars, and swipe leftest to access Google Now.

Gonna be interesting to see if they put the Google Experience (stock Android) Launcher in the Play Store for everyone to use.
