Yup. Been doing it for a little while now. Looks like they might also release something similar to Sony's attachable lenses for phones too.

Cyanogen is incorporated. Trying to become a major platform. Wants to have their ROM in Google Play store.

^^that'll be interesting. I've always thought they've inhabited a gray area, as far as Android being an open system and carriers/phone makers wanting to push their version/skin of Android.

Wow thats interesting... First thing that comes to mind, how are they going to monetize this? I guess with hardware?

I'd root my phone again if they bring that simple solution and it works well with the GS3. But i assumed that non-touchwiz ROMs wouldnt be as fast, stable, etc. I dunno maybe I was wrong.

My fiancee has an iPhone and got the update, the first thing I noticed was getting to the "control center" short cut by swiping up from the bottom. I do that swiping down on my N4

Honestly I've subscribed to this thread well before getting my Note 2 and it's good getting to know how both OS's work and determining which was better for me. I'm just surprised more iPhone owners don't chime in here.

OK, android 4.1.2 question...

Maybe Droid RazrM question (non-rooted)...

my home screen currently is the left-most screen I have (sweep right to get to settings). I have multiple other screens to the right of the home screen. This is not efficient as I have to scroll through 5 screens to get to the sixth.

I would like to make my home screen the middle screen and then scroll right OR left three or four times to get to other screens.

Is this possible?

Well with the new Android OS versions and CM, you don't need root anymore. That is what they are going for. Putting a one click installer app in the Play Store that doesn't require root and just bam, everyone can do it.

I believe it is because they are afraid to be confronted by people who actually disagree with them and not have a herd to aimlessly back up their beliefs.

Its a RazrM question. For my GS3, you can edit pages order and designate which one is home, or drag the home one to the middle. On my home screen i press menu and there's an edit page button that allows me to do this.

It could be. Stock Android launcher doesn't have this feature. I'm sure the RazorM can be changed too.

so a custom launcher would be the solution. hmmm....

not sure I want to incur the cost of the overhead in terms of performance.

When will google learn to streamline its products??

http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/09...rage-and-more/

Why can't they bake quickoffice into google drive?? At least they're integrated together...

That reminds me, google hangouts needs to be integrated with the SMS app!

EDIT: Signing into drive from quickoffice app gets you 10gb of more storage on google drive for 2 years!

So, I installed go launcher EX on my phone and spent a while getting all the icons and widgets set the way I want them. Backed up the layout using the built in "backup to SD" feature.

Then I rebooted.

Everything got jumbled, multiple items on top of each other, on the wrong screens, etc...

So, I reset it all again. Backed it up again. Rebooted again.

Same damn thing. Everything is jumbled up.

any ideas?

Isn't the easiest way to throw apps into the external SD by going into the Android Data folder and just moving them to the Android Data in the external SD card? I saw a 1:23 video on YouTube on how to do that. Or were you just wanting to change the launcher?

The issue was not being able to control the sorting and order of the home pages. I didn't want the home page to be the left most page and have to scroll through 6 pages to the right. I wanted the home page to be the center page and be able to scroll three pages in either direction to access icons.

That doesn't really work anymore after Jellybean, unfortunately.
If you are rooted, you can use a program called 'Directory Bind' to do the same thing. I forget their reasoning, but I recall google is kind of anti-external sdcard for some reason. (it's one of android's biggest perks, imho).
It's kind of a big deal if you play a lot of games as some games are huge (1 Gb or more).

After switching from my HTC mytouch (which I loved, it was just too small) to my Samsung note, I went the custom launcher route so I didn't have to redo my layouts/widgets etc. I'm using Nova launcher now. I used to use something else, but it had issues restoring widgets after a restore. (which sucked, I have a lot of widgets)

It is not rumor anymore, is fact.

And the N1 looks like a very very interesting phone.
5.9" 1080p screen.
3600 mah battery.
Rotating camera (and the flashes rotate!) That's great just using it as a directional flashlight!
Rear touch-control panel.

Oppo's 'Find 5' phone had my attention for quite a while.
If the htc one max is a bust, I could see myself getting this phone.
I'll have to do some pocket tests though - it's 1.5 cm longer than my Note 2.

#(@$&(@ No micro sd on the N1?

I consider microsd a pretty big deal.
If you do stuff like flashing or rooting/modding files, the ability to quickly wipe/restore backup from sd can't be understated.

I'm greatly annoyed that all the contenders are leaving out pretty fundimental things and letting Samsung win by default.

It's mainly to cut cost. Samsung prices their Galaxy brand at a premium so they have enough wiggle room to add storage expansion.

Besides, very few users flash/root.

I love micro SD. Easily the cheapest way to expand memory. $100 for 16GB. What a joke!!!!

I'll agree with that.
However, even if you don't root, it's very nice to have music/movies/pictures on your external card, so if your phone dies you don't lose all your pics.

I had a friend with an iphone fill up her phone with pictures/movies during my last trip. My immediate gut reaction was, 'why don't you just empty your sdcard onto my computer'? Then I realized, 'oh yeah.... you can't".

I do like with my note how it immediately pushes pics to my dropbox, so it's in theory not a big deal. Movies on the otherhand......

Moto x got a nice update that improves the camera quality. And some other things. But now at least it has a better camera possibly swaying more people to buy it.

New S4 colors but only for Gulf area?

Engadget: And just like that, Samsung Gulf has announced the gold-trimmed Galaxy S 4, complemented by either brown or pink plastic for the guys and girls, respectively (dare we say it). We don't know whether these fresh editions will ever come to markets outside the Middle East, but Samsung's timing couldn't have been better. Meanwhile, we're still waiting on that gold HTC One.
