well its not all about the screen size I feel....the original Note (like any new phone) had issues with lagging and shitty battery life....
the Note 2 fixed that and gave it a little larger screen....
The Note 3 does not only upgrade the processor, the ram, the design, S suite, but also gives a slight bump in screen size while keeping it lighter....IMO its an upgrade....
+1 on the wifey(s)....my wife has been using the S4 and temporarily am using a her old iphone 4....so when she went to mess with it, she was like "how do you mange using this phone, the screen is sooo small"....I think the S4 screen size if perfect for chics....the Note looks a little big in their hands...but hey, personal preference right

FML.. screen size to me is like crack cocaine to Lamar Odom
(too soon?)And yeah, the S4 is a great phone - if I actually used my cell phone to make calls, I guess I could downsize.
Problem is, I average only 10 minutes of talk time a month.. meanwhile I average 3 gigs of data a month and about 300 texts, which the bigger screen really helps with.

yeah the screen size does matter....am not saying it doesnt....but to me it doesnt matter as much as processor/ram/etc....
I would pick a 5.5" screen over a 5.7" if it has a better processor and more ram...but i wudnt pick a 4" screen....
so the size in screen is not the reason I feel its an upgrade....also the Note 3 is 32 and 64GB as compared to 16/32 of the note 2
64GB + 32GB SC Card = WIN

As a note 2 owner, I find the note 3 extremely meh.
Samsung used to be way ahead of the pack but they are really slacking now, imho.
There are lots of other features that their competitors have that Samsung's phones don't have.
Yes, the screen is 5.7" bigger. That's what, 5% more than the 5.55"? Battery is 3% larger? Hardly upgrade worthy.
As with all upgrade contenders, a smart shopper (my opinion) gives points to upgrades that grant them real benefits, and subtracts points for things that make their day to day life more annoying. This varies per person.
For me personally, I don't find the note 2 sluggish in any way. The note 1 was clunky. Bootup on my phone took an insane 2.5 minutes (due to all my apps), and the phone would stutter and freeze like crazy if you did a heavy operation like a haxsync or a titanium backup. But on the Note 2, it's fine. So I gain very little from more ram/cpu/whatever.
1080p is cute, but at the distance I hold my phone (a nice comfy one, thank you), I don't see any real sharpness increase, using the S4 as a comparison.
I'm not totally against going down to a 5" phone. But the question then becomes - what am i getting in return?
I personally can't get enough screen. If rumors pan out, then I'm hoping an HTC one max is in my future. We'll see though.
And just as a side note, several of my friends own note 2s, and most of them are females. One handed use actually isn't a problem - I suspect most of them gave up one handed use around the 4.7" mark, and just "went for it", gave up one handed use altogether, and dove into the big screen of the note 2.

I'm looking at the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. I'm fine with the dual core processor and 720p screen. I watched the Mega 6.3 vs. Note 2 and the performance difference was nill. Yes the Note has more features and the pen but the Mega 6.3 has the newest wi/fi band among having Android 4.2.2 vs. the Note 2's 4.1.2. Here's a good comparison video.

i think the one thing which most people are not considering is the software updates....as new softwares roll out, they demand more processing speed and more memory....
Same thing with windows or IOS and even Android....
not sure if most of you keep the phone stock but I root it and like to put the latest version on there....so for me, higher ram and more processing speed is a must....which I think the Note 3 offers over the note 2....
i think the Note 3 is an upgrade but but since I dont have the note2, I cant really speak for sure....so will take your word for it....
@ the 6.3" screen....not sure if I will even buy that as a PHONE....toooooo damn big....

It's a good centimeter+ longer than the note 2 means it's not pocketable for me anymore. It might go in my pocket, but sitting down/stairs/hiking? no.

I have the Nexus 3 when Samsung was making it. Absolutely love this phone. Had it from day 1 when it came out and am waiting for the Note 3. I don't know how LG is going with the build quality, but I have dropped/thrown/smashed/etc my phone more times than any one person should be allowed to do. I have a temper problem I admit
and my phone doesn't so much as have a crack on it. It's a smart phone version of the old Nextel's as far as I'm concerned. If the battery life didn't suck so bad to need an extended battery and it was a 5" screen I'd never need another phone again, it's that good. I haven't looked at the 4 but if the 5 has some good information before the Note 3 hit's Verizon, I'll be all ears. As you said, ability to keep up with future necessities that the processing power/etc of the Note 3 has. I keep my phones from the day I buy them until I need an upgrade (I'm actually overdo) so the Note 3 being as advanced as possible, despite not being a "huge" difference to the 2 is important.

My started shitting bricks a little bit ago. A lot had to do with the battery that I could have replaced but didn't haha.
Also be aware, the NS could last drops and everything, but now samsung's products are the most fragile things out there.
And swoosh, I'm biased but the next Nexus 4/5? will be the phone to get! You'll have KITKAT for one!
Although you use the stylus and such so you may like the Note 3 actually.

theres just a lot you can do.
I'd recommend going through your settings first, and the apps the phone comes with. Get a feel for those and what they are. Then go to the play store and just explore there. And keep popping in here for new tricks and things when they do come out. There's another thread for android apps somewhere that gets used once in a while...
wait for nexus 5 and switch from verizon to another carrier or get the VZW LG G2. Thoughts? If only the N5 was coming to verizon...
I currently have an aging vzw gnex that has served me well. But it's slowing down and the battery life and reception leave things to be desired.

wow never knew how ugly usb 3.0 is.
Now can samsung work to optimize their phone and stop throwing in as many features as possible??
My friend got the moto x. He is getting insane amounts of battery life 5h+ on screen time and 16hrs off charger.
My GS3 can barely manage 1h 30m with 15hr off charger...

^^^ hahah get used to it....USB 3.0 is soon going to be standard.... haha....
and is something wrong with your GS3? that is using toooo much battery....my original note with a 2500mah battery lasted me ~5 hours of heavy usage and ~8 hours of just browsing....
the wifey's GS4 lasts her 2 days (but she is a lightweight on usage)....I have used her phone before and it lasts me a good 8-9 hours of heavy usage....

I mean I'm pretty connected on my phone maybe that's why? The main apps I use are messaging, hangouts, snapchat, instagram, fb, flipboard, and a reddit app. And chrome as well.

^^^ yeah you should be getting better battery life....1 thing which I have read (when I was thinking of upgrading the battery on my note) was doing a battery calibration....
if your old battery has dead cells, where it does not recharge and hold full capacity and you put a new battery in, you need to re-calibrate the phone to the battery....not sure if it works or if its "just another thing on the internet"...but check this link:

My main thing is there's just some app draining it. My phone's battery dies too quick on standby and looking at the graph my phones awake when my screen is not on a lot, I just dunno what app and I really dont wanna reformat.

if both my batteries are doing it, it shouldnt work. I'll try it anyway. I also do leave wifi, gps, and sync on at all times of the day... I just don't want to be switching it on and off constantly

I keep the wifi off since I get faster speeds on the ATT 4g LTE....sync/gps/bluetooth stay on though....
look into the battery tab and see whats draining the battery....
1 thing which helped me is reducing the screen brightness....took a little bit to get used to but I keep the screen brightness @ ~40%....after I got used to it, I went ahead and put it to 100% and I was like "how was I ever using this"
I leave brightness on auto lol
the battery tab usually shows android OS at like 20%. Maybe google's services are overwhelming it?
Actually I just need to go through everything and check the settings. I know google+ backs up my photos over wifi, that is one thing that will drain my battery.
