The handless gestures are neat too. Certainly will outsell the Note 2 as many are thrown off by the size as well. I preferred a larger screen as I don't want/need a tablet. Consolidation.
Love my Note 2, too, but the S4 is the flagship as of now. Even the accessory market has more love for the S4.

One day with the Optimus G Pro, and it basically feels like a Note 2 copy.
Slightly smaller, and lighter, and stronger in specs.
The 1080p IPS screen is gorgeous - the Note 2's 720p amoled seems to be brighter though.

i have to say though, i never use their blinksense feature.
I HATE amoled or any oled display. Images just look like crap on them.
And on another note, I thought tethering was something extra, but right I'm tethering and I didn't get any messages from T-Mo about having to pay extra for this service
You guys are both correct. However, talk and surf only works when you are on 3G and up on GSM and LTE and up on Sprint's/Verizon's network, albeit a different method (voice on 3G, data on LTE). So if you are on EDGE/2G or GPRS, you will not be able to talk and surf at the same time.
Yes the S4 has a pretty good screen even if its AMOLED. Its probably the best AMOLED screen I've seen yet. DisplayMate did a good analysis on it and shows off its Adobe RGB color accuracy:

The HTC One screen is pretty amazing too but those deep black contrast just make the S4 pop out even more especially if you consume a lot of media. Even the white looks whiter on the S4 display, whereas on older generation AMOLED screens, it had a bluish or reddish tint depending on the color temperature the display was calibrated with. It will still come down to better color accuracy all around (HTC One) or saturated colors with the best contrast out there at the moment (S4)

IS300 you should have been able to?? I havent done it recently but it worked last time i did a while back. Should try again.
Also I don't think you have the truly unlimited plan if you're tethering. You will get 2.5Gb and then it will be throttled, which they still call "unlimited"
If you had truly unlimited you wouldnt be able to tether like that. I believe

okay, another dumb question here.
So, long story short... I'm normally a PC guy, but my old Gateway Tablet from 2007 was on it's last leg... at the same time my girlfriend treated herself to a 27" iMac with all the bells and whistles a couple months ago. She gave me her MacBook Pro (it's from 2010). So, I've been using it, and it's fine but I've had to learn how to do certain things the Apple way.
Anyway, I need to unload some stuff off my Nexus 7 (I know I could be asking this question over at the Android Tablet thread but it really doesn't matter because the question applies to both my phone and my tablet), and when I connected it to the MBP, NOTHING happens. I'm used to PCs where it would automatically recognize a new device and then just download the driver or whatever on it's own.
Is there something I should be doing so I can transfer some stuff over to my MBP?

This is why I still love Windows' plug and play.
I'd be interested in that S4 when they come out with the rugged, waterproof version

So, initial impressions? Saw the OGP at the AT&T store today. Was very impressed! Near as I could tell, it has specs equal to the S4 with a screen size equal to the note 2? Or did I miss something??
We are still trying to get my daughter's stolen iP5 resolved. It looks like it is going to court which means another 6 months.
When I'm up for an upgrade in about a month, I may get an iP5 to give to her, take my Nokia 920 back, and give my Sammy S2 Skyrocket to my wife and sell her's on eBay. A lot of Sim card switching, but if it does get resolved before then, than I jumping on the HTC One.

AT&T is doing a half off on smartphones between $0.99 to $199.99 so the 32 GB Galaxy S4 wouldn't qualify but the 16 GB would. HTC One and 16 GB S4 is now $99 at AT&T. Activation fee is also waived but not sure if its also for upgrade contracts.

Can somebody educate me on the HTC One? I was looking at the specs and it seems the 4G LTE only flies on T-Mobile and Sprint in the US. Is this true that it will not carry an ATT 4G signal?
Living in Vancouver and doing a lot of walking, the waterproofing would be very handy due to the very wet weather. I've been using zip lock bags
If you're into benchmarking, the OGP easily beats the Note 2, but is slightly behind the S4 - although in everyday performance, all three are clearly lightning fast.
And I'm not even going to lie, LG straight up copied alot of Sammy's Touchwiz designs.
But I do like the 1080p IPS display and the standard 32gb of storage the OGP has to offer.
AT&T has their own version which does get LTE. The Dev version and the upcoming Google Edition version will also get LTE on AT&T while only get 4G on T-Mobile. I have the AT&T version and can get around 38 Mbps out in Beverly Hills.

Though if you don't want the gargantuan phone, there has been rumblings that Sony is going to release a Xperia Z with Snapdragon 800 at the end of this year.
so if i'm unrooting the note 2, do i just odin stock firmware. Do I need to worry about recovery as well??
Also I got my S3 back and all fixed!! They actually gave me a new phone or a refurbished. one. Guess they couldnt unbrick mine either. Anyway i'm so glad, i missed the size of the screen.

The Google Edition ROM has been posted on XDA for the One. Not sure if I'm gonna try it yet but I might. I hear the IR blaster doesn't work yet and I've been using it a lot.
Decided to flash the Google Edition ROM for the HTC One:

The phone is flying! Love it but wish the Sense camera features are there. I also wish they kept the swipe up from Home to access Google Now but right now its long hold Home to access it and double tap to get Recents. Beats sounds is there but I'm not sure if stock Sense is slightly better. It has a little more oomph but that could be just nitpicking at this point. Camera quality seems pretty comparable to stock Sense but doesn't have the same contrast it seems. Haven't really done a full on comparison and Nothing a little touch up can't fix. Not sure how long I'll keep it on but I'll probably give it a run for a week. Missing some Sense features that I wish was there and the IR blaster doesn't work yet. I've been using the IR blaster a lot and have found out it can actually be used for DSLR cameras as well instead of having to cough up another $25 for a remote. Been using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...dGVmYWlyeTIiXQ..
^The app works on almost pretty much any device with an IR port so your phone technically becomes a universal remote like those Logitech Harmony remotes for $10. They have a version specifically for the S4:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...W90ZWZhaXJ5Il0.
For the people running the Sense 4.2.2 leak, you can get lockscreen widgets by installing this apk in /system/app/:

Unfortunately, HTC decided to throw the clock and weather on the lockscreen widget so it makes DashClock look redundant. Also, you can only pick one lockscreen widget at a time which is a fail. I used it for my Falcon Pro lockscreen and it works great so I can pull my Twitter feed and all Twitter related things without having to unlock the phone.
