Android: Phone News and Discussion Thread
Doesnt work that way, you need a Slingbox on one end and a Slingplayer on the other.
A Slingplayer is not a piece of hardware or equipment (or its not anymore, they once had one but stopped doing it). Its software that runs on a device such as Android, Ipad, some streamers such as WD Live TV, but sadly not Apple TV.

Well guess I don't want one anymore.

Android 4.3 factory images are already up for Nexus devices. Probably the fastest rollout for an update by far for Nexus devices. Downloading it right now for my GNexus and 7:

but what I was told is, rather than just going straight to "About Phone" and checking for system updates
settings--->apps (all)--->Google Service Framework ---> Clear data (don't worry, it won't wipe your phone) --->go back to "About Phone" and check updates

Apparently my Chromecasts have shipped already...yippee!!
It mirrors your chrometab you send. And I read somewhere it can handle HTML5, and flash. No quicktime, silverlight and something else. For videos on chrometabs.
Its still in beta so I'm not sure exactly if anywebpage is possible. I'd assume so??
Mine shipped also!
I guess I am wondering if I go to Acura.com and start building a car on my tablet can I have the tab output live to the TV? Stuff like that.
If I go to flicker, can I output my screen to the TV? You know, non-porn stuff.

Chromecast should be able to stream whatever Chrome browser can play. It can also stream your whole desktop as it uses the WebRTC protocol.

What's the point of adding emoji to 4.3 if it is such a freaking hassle just to type emojis, let alone enable it in the first place? Stupid Google Android.
Would be less painful if they made Hangouts work with SMS/MMS, but still not ideal.

any nexus 4 guys get the 4.3 OTA yet? I tried to sideload but I keep getting "can not read ota.zip" error. The waiting is killing me. Probably why I impulsively bought a second edition nexus 7 when i saw it on amazon yesterday.
That and I always have my laptop by the TV so I can just pop something on their if I wanna show people.
-sent from my new nexus 7

If you already have ADB and Fastboot drivers installed then you can easily do it yourself manually. Just backup all of your stuff to your computer first. Easily takes 15 minutes to get back up and running again:

Also for the people with the 1st gen Nexus and wasn't using a custom kernel with trim support or using one of those lagfix apps that required root from the Play Store, a wipe is going to fix your lag problems because of the cache build up from 4.2.2. 4.3 should've solved this issue but its a little too early to tell.
Yay! They got the CRT screen off mod working on HTC One 4.2.2 Sense builds. Simply download and flash via recovery:

Works great on Maximus 10.0.1 ROM! For the people who want to learn what needs to be decompiled and what codes need to be changed, they put a somewhat tutorial up:

For the people who want the AOSP Browser for flash content running stock Android and are rooted with BusyBox installed, you can use [ROOT] AOSP Browser Installer to automate the installation for you:

Haha so I was browsing XDA for the updates and so many people are reporting bugs on it but the majority of it were from force update via Google Service Framework and issues after rooting. Man I'm so glad I'm out of that game.
Also I told my friend about the 4.3 update and he got too excited. I told him about the force update but I advised him to wait for OTA but he was the impatient type so he force quit the service framework and had issues with Play store and push notifications afterwards. What annoys me was that he didn't know how to fix it and handed the phone for me to fix. That's what I hate the most, haha. I advise someone not to do something, they do it, break it, and then give it to me to fix.
