There are so many rumors about the Note 3 that it's obnoxious.
There's basically nothing confirmed, and almost rumored specs change on a weekly basis.

That being said, Samsung has been on a 12 month cycle with their high end phones:

May 2011 S II
October 2011 Note
May 2012 S III
September 2012 Note II

(Late) April 2013 S4

So september is a safe bet.

Samsung better bring it with the Note 3 if they expect me to upgrade.
I really don't know what it'd take, to be honest, but I found the S4 to be pretty underwhelming.

I'm strongly considering going from my 4s to S4 active. Looking to find the best carrier. I have no problems with Verizon and I'm due for an upgrade. While getting lunch a I checked out T-mobile. They give 100 off just for switching. Do other places do that? Let me have your input.

Will be able to upgrade the iPhone 4S sometime this fall and while I'll see what Apple does with the iPhone in October, I am seriously interested in the HTC One (comes to Verizon on Aug 1) and the Galaxy S4.

How many have moved from iOS to Android? Biggest pluses/minuses?

 

(granted, it was back when I had the 3GS, but my gf still has the 4GS)

But what is it about iOS that's causing you to consider switching? Or what is it about the 2 mentioned phones you're eyeing that attracts you?

S4 active is only on ATT, the regular ones are on all other carriers.
If you get signal from T-mobile in your areas you go to most frequently and you dont do a lot of traveling, tmobile is probably your best bet, I would say.


I moved from 3G jailbroken iphone to Nexus S. Even with todays, I'd say the biggest misses are smoothness of iOS, that to me is the only real advantage iOS has now. Camera, speed and all that is basically on par. If you're invested in google products like gmail, calendar, drive then Android will offer a better experience in those.

Also bigger screens are better IMO, well to a certain point. 4.7-5 is probably the sweet spot for me

 

so I had a FUCK ME...SIDEWAYS moment today....

was running outside to get someone out of the way of the sprinkler system...was wearing my soccer shorts....soccer shorts = shallow pockets !!!

my note flinged out of my pocket and on the street and it slid a good 2 ft before coming to a stop....

corner of the screen is broken, there is a scratch kinda going down the middle....everything is HELD IN PLACE by ghost armor LOL....weird thing, it still works....so earlier I was just waiting for the Note3....now am eagerly waiting LOL

 

The app updated. You just have to go launch it again. Happens with Android apps.

 

Damn that sucks, is it just the corner where theres no display?? Or does the crack intrude the display as well.

from the top to the bottom....lucky enough the screen is working just fine....so are all the sensors....it was a nasty fall LOL....

am thinking of just keeping it the way it is and buy the Note3 when it comes out....

or spend $10 and fix it myself....

I won an ipad mini from our work event last week! Now to sell it and get an android tablet. The Nexus 7 2 is looking tempting.

 

Soooooo...... I got an offer to go join a startup tech company in the Midwest. Would pretty much uproot my entire life and live in a place I've never ever been to, but is near Google Fiber. Upside is that they just got a million dollar funding from venture capitalists so at least a bunch of rich folks think the company is heading somewhere. So torn right now on whether to do it lol.

For me I'd prefer to stay near family/friends, but if I dont find any good opportunities nearby i'd go. Luckily there are hot spots down here for biomedical engineering so at most i'd be going norcal.

 

Do you have a sig other/kids? Do you love your current situation? Is it financially worth it short term AND long term that it will shine on your resume and you won't regret leaving your current position? I had a bank job that was meh and I had just graduated college. Pay was ok, benefits, 5 mins from home, engaged to get married. I got a call to work contract in Pittsburgh for unknown months. That means leave my current job in a week, no benefits, no assuredness. Pay was literally like double what I was making. Best move I made. After 9 mos of making great money I padded my resume to get a better permanent job than my original bank job.

 

The note 2's glass is glued to the digitizer, so this is not easy.
I actually have another note 2 with busted glass and i haven't figured out what to do with it. Glass repairs were way expensive originally. Cheaper now, though.

Well I have had my S4 for three days now and loving it so far. Battery life and reception are 10x better than I was getting with my Galaxy Nexus. Also my GPS lock is instant which is something I was having problems with only sometimes working on my GN the past couple months.

 

I got a friend with an iphone and uses google chat through her desktop. How do I communicate with them? Hangouts doesn't work even when I'm provided their gmail. I tried the gmail app and it says chats but after refreshing blank. They don't use google plus.

Getting frustrated with the google play store.

When on my PC (or android device), I want to search for something (i.e. weather app) and then be able to sort the results by downloads, ratings, etc.

There does not seem to be any ability to sort search results. I am not even sure what the default sort order is based on.

Agreed. It's horrible for searching. I was looking for the Sony unlimited music app. I couldn't remember if it was Unlimited or Music first so I type in Sony and it doesn't come up at all. Shouldn't it go through all the official Sony apps first. What a joke.

Moto Droid Ultra, Maxx, and Mini set to release August 20th. All look to be running close to stock Android.. I'm excited for the lineup. Also excited for the Moto X but it's specs aren't as high. Coming from a gs3 I'm looking to get the Maxx with it's 3500mah battery.

Also saw that android 4.3 has substantially better battery life.

I agree swoosh, not really a fan of the new maps. I feel really clumsy using it since I am so used to using the old maps.
