Android: Phone News and Discussion Thread
Did a factory reset on the G3. Seems like that helped a ton. Bluetooth was wonky before. Connecting to the car was a chore I had to do EVERYTIME. Now, I get in the car, start it and pandora/spotify pick right up where I left off with zero user input. Just the way it should be.
I read in a few reviews before I got the phone to go into developer options and change runtime from Dalvik to ART to make it "faster". After doing the factory reset, I left it on Dalvik and didn't change it. Seems to be faster this way. A friend of mine just got a G3 and I tried making that change to hers and it kept freezing up and locking. Which leads me to believe that might have been the cause for all of my freezing and locking,as well. Since it has been running flawlessly since I made those two changes.
Now if I could just get Textra to show 8 of my favorites instead of just 5, that would be great.

Moto X (second gen.) looks to have some nice improvements. Lets just see how that camera is. Also the battery didnt get much bigger and its got quite a bigger screen. I wonder how that's going to fair.
I'm not going to get it because my Moto X is good, but this is def a top contender.

I might just buy this accessory. $40 is kinda a lot though.

Got a Bluetooth question... (which I know very little about)
My MotoX has different bluetooth communication modes as it speaks to my car when paired ('14 TL).
(MODE 1) If I am driving along listening to Sirius or FM or other music and a call comes into the handset, it automatically cuts off the music and the call audio takes over via BT.
(MODE 2) If I am using Google navigation/maps on the MotoX, I need to actually change the car's headset unit to INPUT>BlueTooth to hear the navigation prompts, which means that I can no longer hear music from Sirius, FM, etc. (Same for streaming like Pandora, etc, but this is fine and expected).
QUESTION: Is there a way/app/method to make the handset use the same BT protocol for the Google Nav prompts as it uses for incoming phone calls?

a free trial period before you have to buy the "pro" key if you decide to keep it.

So in considering my next phone, I want something different. I do like my Moto X a lot. I just don't know if I'm ready for a 5"+ screen. Plus I like getting something different. The X+1 or whatever looks like a nice upgrade though.
Motorola Assist is a godsend. Sure, I could just manually mute my phone every night. But is there an app out there that duplicates such a function? I know there are already apps that will preview a text without unlocking your phone.

360 turns out to be a massive disappointment inside. Glad I waited for someone like AT to tear into it.
Perhaps the second gen, if it sticks around. Still looking at the 2014 X, however my BIL has a G3 and it feels pretty nice.

With ambient mode on, you will probably make it a good 14 or 15 hours on a charge, depending how aggressively you use it. That's generally enough to last you from the moment you wake up until you get home from work. With ambient mode off, however, I consistently got more than 24 hours of use. In fact, as I write this now, it's been off the charger for 26.5 hours and still has 25 percent battery life in the tank. So, while we prefer ambient mode, it's definitely better to leave it off so you can use your watch with impunity.
It is as if it needed a work-in time after unboxing, just like smartphones. Who knew?

And that quote is even from the Apple-lover, Gizmodo!
Those iDiots releasing their reviews 1 day after they picked up their review Moto 360s did it for clickbait and succeeded.
My phones get the best battery just out of the box. Then its just downhill from there. My views is based on Artem's problems, since I follow him on G+ but his 360 seems pretty glitchy. Now that may just be a software problem for on google's part, but in Arstechnica's review it blames the processor for being too old. Using extra juice and lagging.
I'll keep an open mind still, but more than likely I'll wait till gen 2. Hope for that better internals. Also Android wear will hopefully be more refined by then.
I doubt it, but if I get a nice bonus in Dec. I might just throw everything I said out the window and just get it
I still want it.

The later reviews come out, the better the battery life of the Moto 360 seems.

Full Moto X reviews are coming out, and it's a good phone. Potentially great. However that G3 still is very appealing due to the laser focus, bigger battery, wireless charging and microsd. The 4k is just a bonus, and it is available now.
Sigh. Always so hard to pick the next next.
I got a Nexus 4 LG. And some of the games that i play, well now when i click the game. It just exits those games. Sometimes when I am on any app, it just exits and I have to constantly use that app again to finally complete what ever I have to complete. Whats wrong with my phone?
The last one, it wont charge so they send me a new one. Now this one , it constantly exit every program that I'm using. Nexus is really pissing me off. Should I ask for a new phone? Could I upgrade to nexus 5 and pay the difference off?

Looks like I'm not the only one having this issue, almost everyone is. They better fix it, or else I'm going to Iphone. I always knew that when ever I update my phone, thats when problems occurs. http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/06...-in-huge-leak/
So I got my N7 back again from Asus and its still having the random reboot problem. This is annoying. I guess I have to live with it because they dont know how to fix the device. This was the second time I sent it in, within a few weeks of the first for the same problem
True. Got it down to the G3 and X, think I'll be preordering the X tomorrow as long as the lead times aren't excessive. I got burned last year on the One not being available in black, I want to get the phone I exactly want this time, even with the shortcomings. I think I have 30 days to return if I'm reading the Moto site correctly. Most likely getting the Pure edition.
I went to check out and couldn't pull the trigger. I don't know if it was total cost, or wanting to see what the battery life truly was, or what.
Then I changed my mind and pulled the trigger, but now I can't order it.

lease ended and it was dumb to keep for $ reasons. Loved that car though.
