I currently have an 07' Type S with 167,000 miles. I bought it brand new back then and it's been well maintained plus literally just rebuilt the entire front end etc. including a re-manufactured trans from Acura. I was hoping on still driving it for business and buy the new Type S coming out for personal use. But I have concerns. Earlier this year there were spy pics reportedly of a new TLX in camouflage being tested against a BMW and Audi. The car had quad exhausts and may have been the new Type S, however Acura then showed a beautiful blue Type S concept, but no specs have been provided. Sadly I don't think the new TLX Type S will look anything like the concept, the camouflaged one doesn't look anything like it. Unless of course there will be two variants, TLX base model and upgrade to the Type S. It's a shame that Acura won't actually build a Type S that looks like the concept. It's just another marketing ploy by Acura to show what they COULD build, not what they will build. There has been no additional spy pics of the new TLX being tested which is strange. I'll take a hard look at the new Type S when it comes out, the styling and performance has to be there, but I think many of us will be disappointed when we see it & it looks nothing like the concept at all.

You are looking at some old spy pics my friend. Take a look at these which are more recent. And I also want you to go back a few posts in this same sub forum. I believe in 2 pages back as of right now. There some new spy pictures that make it look the same as the Type S concept. The tail lights and front lights will be the same ones in the production based on the recent spy pics. So not to worry!

Big clue its fake is on the Monroney sticker incase you see another one is a VIN#. These are assigned during production process.

The designers of the concept were told to keep the concept as close to the production TLX design as possible. With the exception of the tail lights, front bumper and wheels/brake size, you're basically looking at the TLX Type S. Acura doesnt spend a lot of time and money on random concepts. They started with the TLX design then made changes that made it more aggressive. I've also heard if you like the concept, you'll like the production model because they're so close. I just want it here asap.

TBH, Acura did a pretty good job making the TLX look like its concept:
https://www.caricos.com/cars/a/acura.../images/2.html
https://www.caricos.com/cars/a/acura...images/29.html
I would credit Acura for that besides two obvious chintzy shortcuts between the two: rims and the Aero Kit (looked great baked into the concept - and even though I had it and liked it, it looked like a tacky add on for the model).
Without the optional body kit, the TLX looks like a run-of-the-mill, middle-aged soccer dad, ho-hum sedan.
So I actually expect something close to the Type S Concept for the 2G.

Hopefully it has these rims and no mode body kits.![Thumbs Down](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsdown.gif)

It’s so Acura
Having a 40 minute time block reserved at the Auto show only to have some dudes TALKING about their performance experience with the race cars next to a sign that says “LESS TALK MORE DRIVE” is the most Acura thing I’ve seen in a while.
its acts like this that make me doubt Acura on this TLX release. I see a concept car that gives me so much hope but then they pull these stunts and my TLX PTSD kicks in I begin to have nightmares.
Please don’t drop the ball on this Acura...there are a lot of us that still hope the Type S will bring Acura back to the performance discussion.

Definitely this is very close to the production.
it’s obvious that Acura didn’t want to bring the new TLX as 2020 model. Their aim is to bring it as 2021 and milk the current model
to the max.

RDX and MDX are selling well. Now the sales of ILX has picked up, so acura will release TLX to create buzz next year and bring more people to the dealers. This year is a done deal.

Maybe it's just me. But when you openly tease me with pictures and some pro isles for a new car I'm going to lose interest when I find out that....well, that there is no clue when it's going to be available. Am I going to have to watch Dateline to see if the "cold case" is going to be solved?

Acura is busy reserving time for guys to talk about performance next to a “less talk more drive” sign. Whoever said above that was the most Acura thing ever made me laugh out loud. This should be a red flag that this company is losing its edge and footing. If the 2G is unsuccessful, Acura will doom themselves to being an SUV company.
Meanwhile, Audi, Ford and all sorts of carmakers are debuting all sorts of ridiculously amazing concepts and new models with real launch dates. The Cybertruck (window smash notwithstanding), Mach E and the eTron were so exciting that they were trending on Google. No Hondas or Acuras here.

This whole 2G/Type S campaign reeks of desperation. All these promotional teasers are happening way too early. The wait is shaping up to be almost a year... which is far too long to maintain the initial buzz of a release to translate to actual sales. Most people besides the true aficionados aren’t waiting around. I think tens of thousands of 1G are being traded in or returned on leases with little interest in purchase or a new 1G MMR lease - it’s just not that great of a car - and this premature buzz is Acura desperately attempting to get sedan guys to wait around.

Yeah I think that this will backfire because now any potential 1G TLX buyers may wait and within that time something else may strike their fancy. Oh well at least this should lead to some pretty great deals on the 1G, which I have to be honest for the right price I would consider one.

It's funny because I am one of those potential 1G TLX buyers who is waiting for the 2G TLX. I actually went for a test drive just 3 days before the TLX Type S was announced and was going to sign papers the next week. But after I heard that the 2G was going to be coming the next year, I waited it out. I know that the 1G is going to have some amazing deals but I think I am still going to wait it out for the 2G TLX and I recommend that everyone does that as well. This next TLX is going to be a great package deal since we are now going to have real materials (Aluminum/Wood trim) just like how the new RDX does now. We will be seeing improvements to the infotainment compared to the 1G. Better seat positioning, HUD, better speakers, better SH-AWD, Adaptive Dampers, potential Pano sunroof pulled from the new RDX, and probably much more! The new RDX got a price bump of about $1000 to introduce all these new things. When you break it down into installments, its not much of an increase to get much more features, especially considering that these cars still cost much less than the competition and honestly speaking, probably are more reliable and better to drive.

I doubt it would be based on the NSX one since that will be $$$. Rumor has it it'll be a new e-turbo (Garrett maybe?), which makes sense seeing how Mercedes and Audi have both been offering 48v e-turbos for a couple years now.

Cadillac CT5-V pricing announced today starting at $48,690 (51,290 for AWD) for 3.0 TTV6 with 360 hp/405 lb-ft and 10-speed auto. Available early 2020. Not a fan of the depreciation typically associated with Cadillac cars but it's always good to see more competition
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a2...c-ct5-v-price/
I think we'd all be happy with similar specs from a Type-S combined with the concept looks.
