I wonder if this would make me consider trading my 08 Type-S, but for me the interior has to an entire overhaul. The time has come for Acura to take it to the next level.

I envy you so much for the 08 TLS. I will regret forever for not picking up one of those at the time. But I was jobless and borderline homeless so even a 1998 Accord was fancy. I could easily afford it today but 10 years too late...

Awesome! Can't wait for the concept to be revealed in a couple of weeks. I think it's going to be a game changer for Acura.

Deal breakers for me:

1. Coupe only. I need a sedan
2. < 320hp and/or < 5.5 second 0-60
3. 4-cylinder turbo. Nope.

I'm willing to accept an automatic but the lack of a manual is going to be a real downer.

While I'm excited for the Type-S, am I the only one who feels it's a little sad that we're so amped up for something that Audi, BMW, and Mercedes has been selling since forever?

First RDX and now TLX. Acura is going to kill it Power - Design - Handling & Value. Be ready BMW, Audi and MB.
Remember what RDX did to them since last June

Wow, that front end looks like it will resemble current NSX. Hard not to get excited. I can already see dealers marking them up.

Agreed except for number 2. This is a 2020 model. A 320hp and sub 5.5 sec 0-60mph as a minimum benchmark to hit is not enough, in my opinion, for a performance edition of a luxury sports sedan for the age we're in now. Maybe if this was 2010 or 2011 for a 4G TL type S variant but it's not. I'd say it needs to be at the bare minimum < 350hp and < 5 sec 0-60 and really, it should be closer to 400 and mid 4s. Anything less will look pathetic compared to the competitive Infiniti Q60 Red edition (400hp and 4.5 0-60), BMW M3 (425 HP and 3.8 0-60), Mercedes C43 AMG (385hp and 4.1 0-60) and Audi S5 (only 349 hp but 0-60 in 4.3). A 380 to 400ish hp and mid 4sec TLX Type S would be a homerun. It needs to make the Civic Type R look like a snail, and that's not to be an insult. That's my personal opinion.

The question I have is on pricing. I have the V6 special edition Red TLX's in my area selling for 50k whereas a normal V6 SHAWD is in the low 40s. Should we expect low to mid 50s? Regardless, I'm stoked because I'm this close to having my mind made up for a C8. I know it's a totally different car but I'm done with my 4 cylinder TLX and am ready for a head turning, fun car to drive. It will definitely be one of those 2 cars.

I'm in the same boat. Fiancee has a 2019 Lexus RX350 which we both love to pieces. It's either a fun car, or a fun car that's also reasonable with space. I want a car that will turn heads and put a smile on my face.

I needs to at least have more horsepower and outperform the RLX sports hybrid. Which is currently the fastest non-nsx car Acura/Honda offers.

Agreed but to your point, it doesn’t compete with the M3; it competes with the M340i with 382hp and 0-60 in 4.2sec

Man I was excited about the teaser until I pulled up behind a ilx last night, and I was like hold up!!! That concept has the same tailight design and bumper design as the ilx minus the quad exhaust. And pretty much same headlights with different front bumper. Could this be a ilx type s?

Apsolutely agree with this. In my books this thing should have 400hp to be considered seriously by the press. It CANT be slower than Genesis, that would be an automatic FAIL and would put this thing lost in the middel of the pack. . Pushing 400hp out a modern turbo engine is not that hard. I know the naysers will say, I'm happy with 350hp, however, family eco boxes aka Camry have 300+hp and this is your performance next gen model. Let's get this right Acura for once!!!!!!

It absolutely could be! Given they haven't officially rolled out the next gen TLX concept car. Does it make sense to show the Type-S before you show the revamped design?

Thanks for peeing in our cornflakes

Aside from the mirrors and some bumper treatment not much of a change vs the 2015 production version IMHO.

It is a shame that those wheels didnt make it to the production model....though the 18 Accord Sport seems to be the beneficiary here.

Yep. Acura has been behind for a while now since people have been clamoring for V8 and other options for what feels like forever now. Acura has no problem delivering a masterpiece like the 3G tl type s. But it also doesnt have a problem taking the successful 3G tl type s and murdering it after only 2 years and giving us the 4G TL out of nowhere. They can really go in any direction and you won't know what the hell happened. Acura CAN'T afford to have built this hype for 10 years and come out with a car that sits in the middle of the pack. They need to metaphorically walk into a room full of competitors, unzip, and flop it out onto the table for all to see and be envious of. The competition should see this new TLX type s (I'm assuming/hoping TLX type s) and immediately start rushing to prep for the next mid cycle refresh to compete with it. They have to come out guns blazing aiming for the top. Otherwise, while a nice new option to offer, it'll be a waste of an opportunity. They didn't disappoint with the RDX and hit the nail on the head and shook the midsize sporty SUV market and turned it on its head. Here's hoping this is round 2!

We already know Honda/Acura is one of the best car pioneers out there, no doubt that they can create the most badass sedan on the road, for some reason, they just don't...

The 3G RDX does give us hope!

Now that I look at it like a previous poster said. The back is really similar to the ILX.

not necessarily a bad thing, competitors do the same with using similar taillight designs for the cars
This is my first time seeing the new ILX tails and I actually like them

My theory is Acura will be discontinuing the ILX, TLX and RLX and having one sedan called the ITRLX (or IRTLX if they want the model references to be alphabetically).

But that does look more like an ILX and when you pause the video at the side profile it does seem to be a car on the smaller side. It's Acura so who knows what they will be pulling but I am excited to see what we learn on the 15th.
