I posted about this yesterday and I'd be willing to bet its Acura. Its interesting they wouldn't say which brand. Honda and Acura are very secretive like that to the point thread m they'd have the turbo company not spill the beans just yet.

I completely agree. Japanese companies tend to use Japanese parts on their cars when possible, which is why all of Honda’s turbos are sourced from Mitsubishi. I would expect that they’ll either stick to them or IHI for any new turbos. However, Acura is American and would probably be more OK with going with Garrett, a (practically speaking) American company.

The insider over at TOV has said in the past that the Type S would have an E-turbo. I seriously might have to get one of these before going fully electric.

Does anyone know if we should expect any kind of unveiling at the LA Auto show 11/22/19-12/1/19 or any other auto show in 2019? Not getting my hopes up since Acura only has a 40-minute media reception on 11/20/19. https://automobilityla.com/schedule/

Look at all the other time slots. They have to fit everyone in. some have 25 minutes... The length doesn't say much

40 minutes is pretty long actually. It seems like Acura will reveal the new TLX. I hope I am not wrong

The timeframe says plenty, because if they're not announcing some new product what else could they possible talk about for that long. There's nothing new for 2020/21 except the TLX. Although they could blather on about the new direction and show their Beat This commercial a couple times and talk about each model for 10 minutes. No idea. . .

Maybe a CDX? God knows a smaller CUV would sell like gangbusters. Strap in the 1.5T for the base engine, then drop in the 2.0T for a Type-S. Maybe turn up the wick to around 300hp and it may be competitive with the new GLA 35 AMG

Acura normally announces 2 weeks before the debut date. There's no question that's a new product at the LA Auto Show. There are only two other manufacturers with 40 minutes. The Car and Driver article from March also mentioned the TLX and MDX debuting by the end of this year and early next year. We should hopefully see an announcement today if history with Acura repeats itself.

I hope we get something in two weeks. Lets hope there is some news today! 40 is a long time slot compared to 30 minutes from the other car companies.

This is what's been updated to the LA auto show site for Acura.

Meet the 2019 IMSA Champions, Helio Castroneves, Ricky Taylor, Mario Farnbacher and Trent Hindman.

I think that's partly because the lines and tails are covered up. Hopefully once its unveiled it looks much better

Short and chunky? Good lord it looks as long if not longer than the RLX!

What I see is a vehicle size based on the current Accord...

proportions, my man!

if you break it up into three equal sections; the rear end, greenhouse, front end...it has the appearance of being chunky with the short front overhang and fat rear end.

Proportion wise, the new Accord is hard to beat, but Accords usually always look good!

I wased a 2018~ish TLX today. It was a white A-Spec.

While I love the rear, I perfer the sleeker 2015~era front end. The current model has strangely "square"~ish looking headlights.

I still love the concept and spy shots.

My only concern is that they give it the, IMO, ugly Stinger style fastback roof line.

It looks good on the Accord and Civic, but to me, it shouldn't be used everywhere. Same goes for crab claw tail lights, no offense Justin, and tablet style infotainment systems.

I hear ya, I guess what Im trying to say is: it looks too big IMO. And Im not a fan of how big the new Accord is. It's looking more like a boat vs a sleek fast luxury sports sedan car. At those proportions its more along the lines of a 5-series / A6 / etc, which IMO are too big.

But take all that from someone who doesnt like big car's anymore. After having my ILX for a few years, Ive really come back to enjoying smaller, tighter more nimble cars. You just feel more of the "driving" (for me at least). And with the wife and I now empty nesters, it's just the two of us. We don't need a ton of room (or even back seats for that matter).

If we decide to go back to Acura, it'll prob be another ILX as we like the direction its going. I just hope they dont bloat that thing out on the next gen. If they do, then it's A3, TT or Z4 for us. Unless Acura shows interest in making a fun coupe/roadster...

Crazy the Accord is still far more interesting than the TLX.

Acura will not learn.

Whatever floats your boat. The new Accord is ugly AF. TLX is too small on the inside. If they increase the interior, that's music to my ears, having two kids and don't really want to go with another damn SUV.....

proportions can make or break a design.

even a small car like the ILX can be considered ugly if the designers get the proportions wrong.

it's not about how large the car is, it's how the designers break up the rear, greenhouse, and front end.

The Sketch Monkey on youtube likes to break down car design and even redesigns cars, by changing proportions

I'm totally with you on this. I prefer smaller, more agile cars, and they're much more convenient in downtown Philly where we live. I don't want anything larger than my 2G TSX, and the Accord is about six inches longer. That might not seem like much, but in our small garage and tight driveway it's a huge difference. (I even noticed the three inch difference between my old Saab 9-5 Aero and the TSX.) So the Civic Si would be the natural choice, possibly even the coupe, but I'd prefer something more premium. Enter the ILX...provided Acura brings us another generation and it's done right. With the Accord's 2.0T and SH-AWD, it would be perfect. I'd even forgo 6MT to get such an A3-eating beast.

That sucks, but apparently Kia is debuting something, and it may be this:

Reminds me a bit of the new TLX renderings

That Optima concept already beats the Accord X in one area: not having a hideous unibrow.

They released the pics today. I like how they got rid of the former Kia grill but kept the pinched middle design still. Not bad, except for the rims and Lincoln looking rear, but even Audi is looking like that.
