Hey DZ, you'll "chill out" just fine when they do get here.

BTW - I washed my car today . . by hand. Gave my shoulder a bit of a work out.

i've got a funny question.. i guess by funny i mean weird

i was cleaning the garage, and happened to stumble upon a case of texaco 10/30 oil.. it must have been at least 5-7yrs old... so what do you think.. is it usable? does oil "go bad" after time?

(i was planning to do an oil change on my mom's camry this week)

I would think that if the seals never been cracked, then it should be fine. However, you may want to check the certfication level.

FYI:

Northern Tool at the NW corner of Campbell and 75 has creepers on sale for $10, 3 ton jack stands $12.99, and all sort of car jacks and other fun stuff.

Make sure it meets your mother's engines Service Rating. Look for it in the owners manual or on the oil cap.

One of those flat wheeled body crawlers.

Something you can lay on and roll under the car with. Make moving around under the car much easier. Of course if the car is not on jack stands you won't be able to get under it.

but a creeper is a padded board wit wheels that lets u slide under the car and move around there without hurting ur back if u didnt have one.
and those are some pretty good deals for jackstands and creeper.
I need some tools to install my OBX headers.. might make the drive all the way out there.

edit: oo hm he beat me to it.

Hey Ruf, what's Mantis talking about? Was it successful, and what was the mission? It's just between you and me here...

In other news, I ramped from 635E to 35N tonite at 90MPH, and the new suspension was absolutely glued to the rode. I was so happy I was glowiing. Comptech has their act together.

i dropped by northern tool today
those 3ton jack stands are tempting, but i just bought a pair of 2ton jackstands at autozone 2wks ago for the same price -12.99
i doubt they'll let me return them, cuz i've already used them, and the paint is a bit scratched on the top

i couldnt find the 10$ creeper however, but i bought one for 30$ thats padded, and came with another small rolling tool tray
fun fun fun

edit: i did see a funny wooden creeper with no padding, and assumed it was the 10$ one?

Sorry guys, brother-in-laws 40th last night. :P

Anyway to answer Mantis' question. I was installing my sways yesterday afternoon. And, not it did not go well.

I got the rears installed and the only problem was those end-link nuts spinning , but once I figured that out I was fine. Took just under 40 mins from start to finish.

Since I figured I had all the "gotchas" fiigured out I would try and tackle the fronts real quick. Well I got it off in about 7mins and another 7 to get the end link nuts off. They were frozen as well.

So I go to put the new one in and that's where the fun started. I could not get the end links to line up right. I played around with it for 30 minutes trying all sorts of angles, even making sure the sway bar was in the right way. In the end, it seems to fit only one way and I still could not get the end links to line up. Well times up, gotta get cleaned up for the party. Not having full strength on my right arm didn't help either

Now it's Sunday and I give it another go. This time I jack the car up a bit higher to give me more room. Well after 5 mins I get the first link in and the other is a real b!tch. But I get it in, however it doesn't quite tighten up. And then I give it a good tug and $h!t . . . I snapped the end of the end link off. :big eek:

Now it looks like I'll have to wait until Monday and take it in.

So much for saving a buck.

I should have mentioned that the $10 ones were on the endcap of the isle right next to the other creepers. It was a red-padded with neopreme wheels. Works really well, just not tool caddy, but my boys love ridding it down the alley.

Texas Motor Speedway's road course by invitation of Goodson Acura, gentlemen. They said we couldn't go over 90 mph due to safety regulations, but my instructor let me break 100 four times--he must have felt safe with those fine Comptech parts!!!

Now I feel bad, Danny.

Kinda sucks but I was lucky to be able to go at all. They had the NSX day out there and the dealership sponsored it, so they got some track time. I was invited by my service rep because of the Comptech stuff they installed--they wanted to see how it ran on the track. I am now known as the "Fast TLS" by Goodson... Sorry but way cool anyway!

But I made some contacts that do racing at Motor Sport Ranch in Fort Worth (a road course), and I am going to try to set something up if people are interested (gonna cost some scratch, though...but I am told it is worth it--and I believe it).

Sorry but it was not my gig and I was a minor, minor, last minute invitee.

HEY! My lil sis's b/f was out there as well. If you saw this ugly little black convertable miata with a vette muffler poking through the middle of the bumper, that was him. He's a nice guy I just really don't like his car. He told me that he did around 110 all four laps. I was jealous .

:o Okay, so I must be getting old. :o

I got my front sways put on, by myself without any trouble. After having to buy a new right end link. Notice I said right. Turns out those boogers look the same, but are different.

All because I could not get the sway bar off because the upper bolt links were spinning, I took the bottoms off leaving the end links on the sway bar.

Well, I must have got them swapped around and never thought of them being different or that I got them reverse.

So after deciding to replace both, I find out there's a right and left one. :o With that out of the way it took me 20 minutes to hook everything up.

Funny thing is that it would have taken me 1 1/2 to do both sways if I did make that one critical mistake.

So now I'm off to test it out . . . and get my springs installed tomorrow.

Small world, huh? There were lots of nice NSX's--many with major mods, like supercharges, etc. Even the stock ones were sweet. I think they had 81 cars show up for the whole week.

RUF--it is about time you got that equipment on there. No more off-roading on the weekends, though...

Congratulations!

Also, Who all is coming from the Collin County area? We really should drive down together on the 22nd. You, me, and how about Mantis, too, maybe?

Cheers to you, RUF, on your new suspension!!!

I guess my wife is right after all. I'm a real hard head, or is that because I never give in or give up.

What can I say, I'm always right.

And, I did a little trial run tonight and MAN I LOVE THOSE SWAYS!! If it wasn't for the high-water pants look, I'd be happy with the ride feel as it is.

BTW - the weather is darn near perfect for racing. I got a huge chip when I hit 2nd and that was in D4 with my Toyo's! Can't wait for the races!

Ya, tell me about it. Shoulder or no shoulder I was determined to get them on. The wife wasn't happy about it because she was worried I'd tear something up. Well I did, but not my shoulder but broke my end link.

And yes, after the springs go on tomorrow, no more off-roading for me. :P

As for who's coming down from the Plano, Allen, McKinney area. I think you, me, Plano TLS if it works out, and I think Rootbeer is around here somewhere and maybe Mantis and some others nearby.

And I've put the dates on momma's calendar so there is no excuse for her not knowing I'm going.

I can tromp the throttle from a stop (with headers) and don't break loose for more than a half-second off the line, and don't *think* I get anything going into second. I've got almost new Yoko's, but I'd think it would be similar.
