New Low ET for 0-60!

I was heading over to my offices mobility center and decided to take a quick pass at one of my two favorite test spots.

I don't know if this was a fluke of what, but I ripped off a 6.18sec 0-60 run.

I know that sounds wild, but I used the same stop watch and set up. The only thing different is that the weather was cooler and my tires are broken in. So who knows.

I hope I get a similar positive surprise when I run the 1/4.

I was a bit shocked as well, I'm betting I was off about 2-3 tenths, so 6.3ish maybe, but we'll never know for sure.

We're planning on grabbing a bite to eat first, around 7ish. Then be at the track around 9pm.

Maek sure you have one of our mobile phone numbers if you need to check up with us.

I just read that the ice box fix was found, but new molds have to be built. So it won't be ready until at least the first of the year. Sorry guys.

Safety equipment?

What was that about the helmet and fire extinguisher?? I thought someone said if you are not running in the 13s or faster you didn't need this. Who knows for sure?

Mantis has been there with his car and hasn't had to use a helmet to my knowledge.

Be this true??

And BTW, I don't plan on having one with either. :P

Yep, I caught that, too. I'm not the most patient shopper, so I'm more than a bit peeved by the delay. Oh well. If there was a better / equal one out there, I'd just buy something else, but it seems the Ice Box is gonna be the best option.

I was totally joking when I said the helmet / extinguisher thing, and have no intention of bringing one. Though, I *do* plan on running 13's.

Inferno, the more the merrier. This is gonna be a fun night. I look forward to meeting all of you guys (and your gals).

I've got a buddy with a new 325Ci m/t who wants to check things out, and the Ram Air TA friend coming down with me as well. I'll be bringing my digital video camera, so I hope to get a good clip of me whupping up on all of you guys on the track.

Civic, sorry to hear you may not make it. Maybe some other time then.

Man, Civic, I hope you're not just making an excuse because that 6.18sec 0-60 time I pulled has got you running scared. :P j/k

Seriously, it's going to be a great time, but priorities are priorities.

You better bring your 'A' game if you expect to whip up on a TLS. We all know those CLS's are slower and need all sorts of mods just to hang. aaarrroooowwwww!!

Let the trash talking begin because tomorrow night it the truth be known.

Well boys, it sounds like the trash talking has officially began and you KNOW I can write some really nice poems

I know that I have no chance against the Type-S's, but those P's better watch the F(bleep) out

We are all still on for meetin at Beltline and the Tollway at 6:00pm sharp and then we'll ride out to Arlington, then off to the track.

Civic, I hope you can make it. I can't remember if you were on the list for Dyno Day, but hopefully you're still dynoing... I think we still have 17 cars....

Boy have you just not been payin attention or what....

Saturday Nov 23rd:
Lone Star Performance will be hosting our event for $40 for 3 pulls a car. All RWD cars get there as early as possible (that would be you Hanzie). Doors will be open at 8:00am and all the RWD cars will be done first. I know it's gonna be hard for you to get there that early, but please try to get there as early as possible. www.LoneStarPerformance.com is the web address to get the information on how to get there. If you can't get there that early, it won't be that big of a deal, just try to be there in the morning.

o well I'm not dynoing ... but I got my grade back from my genetics test today and got an 83... which is MUCH better than the 65 I thoughtI would get... I'm so happy that I'll treat myself with a trip to Ennis and a few runs at the track tonight...

I'm hpoing to run a 14.5 with my bone stock CLS 6speed... who knows maybe even a 14.3 but being it's my first time at the track to run with a manual transmission I think it'll be a rude awakening when I run times slower than that... we'll see... Maybe I can get an intake on before I go, borrow someone's

o yeah and Ruf, do you think I might be able to take one run with your front wheels on? it sounds kinda crazy but I'd really like to see what my car can do with really sticky tires... if not that's cool too...

well what time are we all going ot meet at the track? I'll be leaving Austin at around 3PM or so after my haircut... gonna empty out my trunk and head up there... I think track opens at 6PM... we sohuld get there as early as possible so we can get more runs done early beofre the big crowds come... I won't have access to a computer so Ruf and Mantis I'll PM you my cell # so you can gimme a ring if plans change or anything... later...

considering our time schedule, we may not be getting out there until 9:00pm. We are meeting at a Hooters in Arlington at 7:00pm. If you don't mind back tracking a bit, just drive all the way to Arlington and then caravan back to Ennis with us.

They are starting at 8:00am for us because they know we have a lot of cars. We will do the GT's first anyway. You don't have to be there at 8:00am sharp, you can be there a little closer to 9 if you want, don't worry. I posted my phone number, so if you're running a bit late, don't worry at all.

Off topic here, stay away from PEP Boys in Arlington. Took my car to them to get aligned (I put the factory springs back in) and they told me the ride problem was because my tire was out of round and defective (1 month old). So I took it to the guy that aligned it after the drop, and he checked it to find the tow was off the chart. I knew it was tow or alignment by the way it behaved.....

I did observe this "out of round" at pep boys though, he had the front end up and put the car in gear so the wheel would spin a little. There was a small noticeable section of the tire that seemed to lump in contrast to the rest of the tire. I guess I will keep an eye on it. I don't feel anything wrong with pull, drift, handeling, vibrations, shuddering, etc...

Anyone else here have expierince with "out of round" tires?

The Battle Royale...

Left lane Ruf87 (lightweight wheels)
vs
Right lane InfernoTLS (comptech headers)

I think both ran a 14.8 here(correct me if I'm wrong)

Ruf's Friday night results:

1st Run: Very little wheel spin, no wheel hop and no 2nd gear chirp. Right Lane.
R/T - .683
60' - 2.186
330' - 6.180
1/8 - 9.434
MPH - 75.22
1000 - 12.270
1/4 - 14.670
MPH - 93.31

Run 2: Didn't watch lights, fair amount of wheel hop and a good 2nd gear chirp. Left Lane:
R/T - 1.012
60' - 2.308
330' - 6.265
1/8 - 9.520
MPH - 74.95
1000 - 12.364
1/4 - 14.758
MPH - 94.38

Run 3: My slowest run. Some wheelspin followed by wheel hop, and a nice 2nd gear chirp. This was also the closest race with me beating out Inferno by just .0055secs . . WOW What a race! Left Lane.
R/T - .752
60' - 2.294
330' - 6.290
1/8 - 9.555
MPH - 74.90
1000 - 12.399
1/4 - 14.789
MPH - 94.45

Run 4: Best time, but not launch. A little wheel spin and wheel hop, good 2nd gear chirp. Right Lane
R/T - .796
60' - 2.261
330' - 6.222
1/8 - 9.456
MPH - 77.73
1000 - 12.280
1/4 - 14.659
MPH - 93.95

I think I could have hit 14.6 flat if I could have hooked up like I did on the 1st run.

Now it's time to do some mods and crack the lower 14-teens.
