A pulley in general will lower the strain on the motor. By itself, the $ per hp is not that great, but when more mods are added they create more horsepower than they would without the lightened pulley. Getting one the same size as the stock one is good for people with stereo systems simply because the alternator will spin the same speed and produce the right amount of power. A buddy of mine is an ex stereo installer and his system performed noticeably worse after getting a smaller lightened pulley.

chris might be able to add some more info to this part.

ah, okay. i'd heard that about pulley's messing up your electrical system, and now it makes sense. The alternator won't spin as much with a smaller diameter pulley, so it won't produce as much electricity. So a pulley that's the same size won't have any adverse effects?

I'm gonna be nosey Hanzie, just ignore me if you want.

I was curious, do you have another job too? Just wondering how you bought the house. I'm kinda in the same position as you, recent college grad (or you're about to be) and trying to find a good job to get my own house.

Hanzie doubles as a male prostitute in the Frisco area. The local patrons have given him a very low rating and extremely poor reviews. Because of his bad reputation for not putting out, I doubt he'll be seeing good money in the future.

This was paraphrased from an article in the Frisco Tribune.

The pully is about $220, so for about 15hp, it seems like a good deal. If you consider I got maybe 9hp for a free flow muffler, free flow CAT, and a CAI wich came to about $700.

I've been thinking about getting pulleys for a while. If I find for sure that it doesn't affect my electrical, and figure out how hard it may be to install / have installed, I might jump on it. It could be the last engine mod I do--barring a chip I guess.

pulleys shouldn't be to hard, except you have to pull the side wheel off and pull off the guard stuff around there, then get a wrench with a 35mm socket i think. with auto, it's kinda hard to get the bolt loose. i think you have to crank it for a sec then shut it off real quick. my buddy did it on his auto 240 but it was a lil easier to do as those are rwd.

shouldn't be to bad to do yourself.

Seems right to me . . . I plan on the pully before headers myself . . . especially since I seem to be either beating or keeping with the header guys.

Danny,

I am not a male prostitute, all the time, hehe. No, Sarah and I had some help from the rents. The down payment was and is a wedding present. Now we make the mortage (spelling?) payments. Sarah got a 5th grade teaching position in plano this summer. Also, i am continuing my employment at my internship. we are paying about the same every month that we did for our apartment in Fort Worth. So basically it is no different except for alittle more bills, larger bills, and some stuff we had to buy for the house, etc......................................

I say that Civic's engine doesn't make it 1 month after he installs the NOS . . :P

Sorry man, don't want to be a bearer of bad $hit, but with a 6 speed, one missed gear . . . just make sure you see if there is a cutoff of sorts you can put on there.

It's a zex kit, not sure what precautions it comes with. I'll start with a 55 shot first.
