I took some night shots last night in N. Arlington, some of them came out pretty good. I was just experimenting with shutter speeds and apertures. I need to upload those too.

Chris, did you make it to the meet? I didn't see you, so I wasn't sure if you came late or what.

Damn, accross the street from me. You should dropped me a line

I did not make it that night. Work was rough that day (yeah, even though I work from home) so I opted out. I miss it now, and wish I would have come. Maybe we can have a mini-meet soon?

mantis, i got some more gutter guard stuff, just stronger stuff. The links are thicker like the grille on that lightning. I don't think that lightning grille is homemade, i think it's just a custom grille you can buy out of those truck mags. But if I ever see someone with that grille, i'm gonna ask for sure.

chris, i live about 1.5 miles from that park, i'm pretty much always in your area. If you got nothing to do one day, we could get some 1st & 2nd gen shots.

True, and maybe lunch. I need to get the gutter gard. Where did you get yours? Home depot? Do you need tin snips to cut it?

Mantis, I got both vids from the dyno session--I love that sound track: VTEC sounds soooooo sweeeeeet and throaty when it comes from a V6 instead of a four banger. I have them saved on my computer so you can remove them to make room for others. Thank you again and Happy Thanksgiving!!! Inferno

chris, i got the stuff at Home Depot, i actually have an extra piece if you want it. I got 2 just in case i screwed up the 1st one. Tin snips are probably the easiest way to cut it, I used some tough scissors for the flimsy gutter guard stuff, but they wouldn't cut this stronger stuff.

Replacing Sparkplug Wires

I am posting here because I would like to hear from locals that might know what the best set of 8mm - 9mm replacement sparkplug wires would be and who would be most likely to have them in the metro mess. For a 99CL 3.0 Suggestions - todays project!!

And yes, thank you for making it 181. You should visit this thread more often. We just had a big meet that was a lot of fun. The Maxima guys and I have a meet every month. We always have a good time and check out each other's stuff.

My dyno printout from Lone Star Performance. This is the TL-S with Comptech Headers (215 HP/178.5 TQ). Note the flat, broad torque curve. And, yes, I added color to the graphic so I could see the lines on the computer better.

Take a look at RUF's stock TL-S (192 HP/175.6 TQ). Sorry, I didn't draw in the contrasting colors on this one. The major difference besides the max numbers, of course, is the shape of the torque curve. Interesting stuff...

why do the readings start at about 4300 rpm for you and 4000 for Ruf? Why not a lot earlier for both?

They manually cut the graph point each time so every one is different. They only showed the main power curve is my understanding.

My main concern was seeing the area between the torque max and the horsepower max so I would know the best shift points. Typically, I have heard, that is where you want to start and end each gear (more or less) to get the most go from your shifting. I think I was shifting a little late and I could have gained a little by shifting 350-450 rpm earlier or so.

Inferno, where were you shifting at the track? I always shifted right b4 redline so it swings into the red just a bit b4 it actually shifts.

I was shifting at about 6,700 or so and it would sometimes hit the rev limiter.

Looking at the curve, I should have been shifting at about 6,450 and having the shift hit while it is still in the good part of the powerband (say by 6,750 at the very latest).

Just a theory until I get back to the track, of course...

When did you start your shifts, Danny?

"The cruise is close to 200 miles worth of twisty country roads with one 30-45 minute stop planned while en route. "

Where the heck did they find twisty country roads? I wanna play.

The charity race sounds great, but Dec 14th is a bad day for me, seeing as how the DNE guys and I are trying to get some big meet going so that we can get some good DV footage. We will be meeting at Mondo's near the Galleria that night around 7:30pm. All are welcome (www.nissans.org)
