speaking of meeting, sorry i didnt call you back last night Aaron. We found a place on Northwest Highway and Luna i think. We all gathered there for 20 minutes watching the races, i was about to call but i knew it would get busted by the time you got here. Of course a couple of cops came and we bolted. Anyway, i think me and my bro might be going to ennis this friday to run on the track, didnt know if anyone else wanted to go?? i know for a fact none of us are working late so we could meet up before?? I think we are gonna go this coming friday, but definitely the Aug 2 street night, some of my other friends are coming into town from houston cause of the Hot Import Night at the Market Hall in Dallas on Sat the 3rd of Aug. Allsock, that would be a good start to figure out what to do to your car. (hint)(hint)hehe. But so i know the ennis street night the night before the show, is gonna be packed with tons of cars. So, lemme know if anyone is interested in those two dates.

Heh, that's cool Jeff. Sure, I'll be down to head down to Ennis next Friday night. Don't know if I'll run or not though. Where can I find more info on the Hot Import Night at the Market Hall? I'd definetly be interested in going to that. I like those shows.
Hey allsock, think you'd be able to make it to the track this Friday night? I'd be MORE than happy to record your runs!

Yeha I might be able to make that, one question thou, what is the break in period for this engine I have heard betwen 600 and 1500 (I am 822)? I will be all over the hot imports show. Doesnt O'riellys and most shops give discount tickets for the shows. They did for the last custom show at Markethall.

I was told 1000 miles for breakin period. I didn't really do anything until 1050 or so. That's a tough call. By weeks end, I'd assume you'd be above 1000.
Discount tickets you say? If you hear of any, please let me know!

I think its 25 a ticket, if you buy online now, its that plus 2.50 convienence fee. Im assuming its the same at the door, at least that is what im doing, plus cause in the Honda Tuning magazine, they have a full page ad in there, and it says bring that to get $3 dollars off, hehe im a cheapass. Well, technically if i was a cheap ass i would not have bought the magazine and just tore the page out, but i actually bought the magazine so there.
So i guess we are game for ennis this friday, lemme make sure with work that i dont have to work and i will get back with you guys on that one.
On the sat Aug. 3 Hot import nights, my buddy is setting up a booth there. We are gonna hang out there. His company is called Midnightautosports.com i think, i will have to check on that again. He has the website up. He is new so not too much on there yet. But he is gonna have his car and a booth. Im not gonna go to mid afternoon on that saturday, so i dont know if you guys wanna meet up for that or not too

Ohh, and Danny, I talked to the guy at the shop, and he said he'd charge $75 for a spring install.

I won't be able to make it to the track this Fri. the 19th cause I'm headin to CA, and Vegas baby! But the Aug. 2 night sounds good, my GT friends have been talking about goin again cause they'll both have their exhaust finished soon, so I can probably get them to go Aug. 2 too. I'm sure they won't puss out this time and actually run a few.
That import show sounds cool too, I've never been to one b4, are they worth the $25, or should I just put that towards the springs?:P

Do you need any special equipment to run in ennis (i.e. helmet, extuingisher) And is there any car restrictions? I have a friend that wants come, but his car is a open top roadster.

Hmm, people race pretty much anything under the sun out there. I don't know what their rules are on open top roadsters. If he runs 13.99s or lower he'll need a helmet. But he may have issues with the open top.
My humble suggestion would be to give them a call @ 972-878-2641. I'd guess they would let him run, but ya never know.

Cool, thanks for the info. I called them and they said as long as its street legal you can run it. They also said that thier not expecting that many people. I probally wont run my car but I may run my buddies, either way I will defiantley be there. And one other thing, does anyone run anything that is sub 11 sec out there. it seems like most of what I have seen has been 12 and 13?

I will probably run if i get my headers installed in time, but i dont think that will happen so i might just watch, not sure. I got a new clutch disc from the dealership and new second gear synchros!! Except now its hard to get into first gear and smooth into second, hrrmmm. oh well better to get into second i guess. I havent tried dumping the clutch yet cause im a skeerd. heh sorry, i still think it will just spin the clutch.
Hey allsock, what do you think of MB Quarts?? I have a pair of coax's ordered and im afraid i wont like them. I had a pair of Focal Components in my old car and loved them, but i didnt wanna put components in this car.

MB Quarts are good speakers, it all depends on your ear, for my taste they can be depending placement a little bright. But my music tastes probally differ from yours. But if you are looking for speakers that can play loud and stay fairly clean doing so you cant go wrong with quarts. But make sure you got lots of power, I assume you have the 116 series (6.5 inch coax) Thier sensitivity is something like 87 or 88 which means juice em up. I would stay to the high end of thier power requirments (100 watts or better). If they are bright there lots of DYI tricks to smooth them out. Plus you head unit and amp combination will change the tonality of the speakers a bit.

yeah i have the DKD 116 i think on order, i also ordered an MTX Thunder 4122 its a 200 Watt by 2, but it says 50w by 2 at 4 ohms, is that ok?? I didnt plan on changing the head unit, but i might later on. Yeah i just need it alot lounder and cleaner. The speakers in the s2000 is a joke, you cant hear anything even with the top of cause its soo loud due to road noise, and with the top down, you can forget about even turning the stereo on. I was told the RMS on those speakers are 60 watts.

You might have problems with that amp. It is rated at 50by2 at 14.4 volts but at 12.5 volts it is rated at 30by2. The last time I checked under normal driving conditions honda/accura usually runs at 13 to 13.4 vrms. That is if you are not running U/D pulleys.
The rated wattages on amps doesnt mean the actual usuable power, the ratings are measured under ideal lab conditions using modified sinewaves, so basically thier bs. The amperage in combination with the wattage and distortion levels determines your real usable power. MTX IMHO makes a good product for the dollar and I believe all thier amps ship with certificates for power ratings. If the place you bought it from has a good return policy, I would try it and see how it sounds, then make your decision. Additionally are you running the MB as full range speakers? and what other speakers/amps are you going to be running? BTW I love the S2000 if I could have lived with two seats I would have jumped on it.

well i think i will give it a shot. In the s2000, in the year 2000 at least, there are only two speakers in the car, and they are in the doors. In the 2002 or 3 is when they came out with components from the factory.
If this amp doesnt work out, which from what you are saying wont, what should i get then?

Mtx 4202 specs
Power 12.5 VDC Input
2 Ohm Load 100 w x 2 Low Level
4 Ohm Load 50 w x 2 Hi Level w/ Smart Engage
Bridged 4 Ohm Load 200 w Crossover(s)
Power 14.4 VDC Hi / Low @ 85Hz
2 Ohm Load 140 w x 2 Fixed, Defeatable
4 Ohm Load 85 w x 2 RCA Output
Bridged 4 Ohm Load 280 w Full Range Only
If you are going to MTX 4202 isn’t a bad choice but I think the r8302 is better if you can swing the cash. The 8302 ($265) is 75w by 2 12.4 vrms
Other good amps for the dollar are
Alpine MRV-T420 or T320 $220 for the 320 or $320 for the 420
Precision Power PCX-250 or 280 pricing is not published but same range as alpine. But do not buy PPI online or you warranty will be void
Or if you want to spend some cash and want the best
go with the McIntosh, They were making audiophile quality equip before there were car stereos McIntosh MCC82 $480
And don’t forget the Soundstream Rubicon. You can buy the 204 which will bridge to 100 watts by 2 for about 190 bucks. This is a good deal for the quality and power.
