I don't think the speedo ever got below 115.

plus I did left @ 11pm, so no traffic ever really held me down.

Damnit....2 3 gallon air tanks sure cramp layout style for stereo work in the trunk....

I nix'ed the PC and fiberglass ideas. Just no time to mess with it. Maybe a future project

Right now I have the head unit in, and surprisingly, using the factory Bose amp driving the factory seperates and rear's sounds damn good! I think I may sit on the 4 channel amp for a while and see how this pans out. I don't think the new amp will have much to offer.

Two Infinity 10's and 500 watts going in this week. Problem is I need to get all new air hoses (currently hard lined with pipe) so I can rearange the tanks. Still trying to figure out the best lay out given the speaker enclosure size and the size of those tanks. I am creating the false wall, false floor, and side panels still, just no fiberglass. My biggest stumper is how to arrange the air tanks so they are visable, yet not in the way. I could always stack them on a custom rack behind the enclosure, but why hide the chrome tank Bling?!?!?!

My other delemia is behind the back seat. I kinda want to do something with Neon so when the back seat door is open the neon shines through, but what they hell would I be illuminating back there??? The amps will be visable from the trunk.

I got it! CD changer on a linear acutuated sliding mount that pushes it forward, through the back seat opening to change magazines!!! Nah, at 500 an acutator..... (yes now I am rambling...)

looks like you're getting the schema together...

From the sounds of it, I assume you don't expect to have any useable trunk space? I wish you would stick with the fiber glass. Maybe you could teach me a thing or 2 about it.

Roughly how big are those air tanks in size? X, Y, Z?

it's always good to get a stock dyno to base all your mods on. you can tell how much each mod has added.... roughly.

If not that's cool, but it would be nice to meet a few more ppl.

I know, I know. I used to do fiberglass work when I was with Mobile One Auto Sound in New Orleans (I was MECP certified too). It's just very time consuming laying it out, building it up, and glassing it, letting it dry, glassing it again, etc, then paint and clear coat. I think once I do a clean basic trunk fab with wood and carpet, I will have a better idea of what needs to happen to glass it.

The tanks are pretty big when dealing with two in the trunk. They are about 17 long (with fittings) 6.6" deep, and 9" tall (due to mounting brackets). I think I will mount them in the corners pointing up towards the trunk lid center.

To answer you trunk space question, yes I will have trunk, which is the source of the trouble laying it out. I refuse to sacrifice spare tire access, and room to throw the kids back packs, and groceries in. So because of that The wall will be somewhat pushed back, withthe side panels flaring off into the corners, flanked by the air tanks angled up. The false floor will allow me to create a new panel for tire access (the factory panel is twice as big as it needs to be).

I suppose once I have all this fabricated and installed the way I want, I can at anytime, pull the panels back out, build up some contor, and glass them and put them back in.

We shall see.

Hey, do you guys think this thread is gettign too long to the point where it is difficult to reply/post/read through?

Perhaps we should start a part two thread?

Ouch, trying to retain trunk space is _definetly_ going to be a bitch!

I've always thought about a part II for this thread. I don't know if its length affects server response time significantly. With the server being so slow for the past few months, I really can't tell anymore.

Retiring this thread won't happen unless we get a mod to lock it. Guess we'd have to ask the thread starter and ask the rest what they think about that. I'd hate to see this thread go, but all good things must come to an end, or something like that.

Yeah, but I have already broken two wheels, so based on history, not having access to he spare would be guaranteed stranding at some point.

This thread has been going on WAY to long to stop it now..... why get rid of a good thing. yes, good things do come to an end, but that's when all you guys buy nissans and there is no need for this thread anymore :P j/k

I say keep it going.

heh, I know what ya mean, I've recently had 3 flats with no spare available. Luckly I was close enough to home or work so I didn't really get stranded. I need to find a place for that amp so I can put the spare back in.

Ohh, anyone know where I can get an amp repaired? I blew out one of the Eclipses whlie I had it in the protege. I bought it off some guy, but he says he can't help me with warranty.

Thanks Casper!

I got the new CAT put on yesterday. I can't feel any real differance. May be the dyno will tell. If I don't pick up at least 20 -25 HP I am going to be very disapointed.

Ractive muffler $250
Injen Intake $200
Random CAT $268
Accel Plug wires $75

I don't think my shock will be back from Cali in time for the dyno. Although its still a possibility, the shop said not to count on having my car by this weekend.

that sucks, but at least you got a G35 to play with temporarily. I'f my car got messed up I'd probably end up with an old Integra loaner.

I need to take a fiberglassing class.

I figure it would cost too much to get the trunk the way I want it done right, better try to do it myself.... I mean, how hard could it be?
