How cool is this? I was at the Indy 500 track when Montoya and Gordon swaped rides. Oh the sweet sound of a F1 engine! I think Gordon had the most fun and he was fast enough to qualify for last years US Grand Prix.

grrr... I miss my car. Been driving a camry thepast few days since I've been in Orange County, CA. I'm trying to pick up another nitrous kit while I'm here. Did you buy a G35 Mantis?

no, i didn't buy a G35...
No, I didn't get my car back...
I'm full of No's, or is that, I'm full of bullshit?
Either way, I've got nothin.
I wonder if Imsport finished putting in the N20 kit?
If you happen to swing by there, take a peek to see if they've started on it.

- 14" LCD in custom fiber pod on right of radio (from a laptop), wraped in matching vinyl/leather
- Digital PSI gauge and switches below LCD
- Docking station in trunk for laptop (for DVD's and MP3's and other PC work)
- CDMA 1xRTT data conenction
- WiFi (for LAN connection while parked at the house for copying over MP3's and otehr stuff)
- Docking station tied into stereo
- Fiberglass wall enclosure for 3 10's (docking station slot in face)
- Floating brackets for air tanks
- Raised floor amp rack with Neon and plexi
- RF keyboard and trackball
- OBDII software for PC
The only thing I am looking to switch up here is possbily nix'ing the keyboard/mouse/LCD and going with a tablet PC for the touch screen effect (I have some friends at Microsoft)
Anyway, this is the design phase. I am testing some things to see if I can get reliable DVD and LCD operation over a long ribbon cable so I can mount the DVD drive and LCD up front.
Wish me luck

Fuckin sweet Chris! Best of luck on that.
I assume you're doing the work on your own?
I need a find a shop to mount my amps in a better position. Right now, I've got one just floating around where the spare should be.

Yeah, doing it myself. The trunk is going to be a pain since I can't drive my car while working on it since I have to pull the air tanks out. No tanks, no air, no lift, no go.

I love LA... went out to HOllywood Blvd. last night and partied it up. We went to this club called Deep on Vines and Hollywood Blvd. Just a plethora of hot and "phyiscally outgoing" women. Got to roll out in my cousins Q45, maybe tonight I'll get to borrow the big body Benz (S430). At work I get to drive uncle's 2003 E320 to and fro to run errands for his neurologist's office or laboratory. It's not all that quick nor is it all that nice in my opinion. Maybe the E55 would have been a better selection or at least the E500. The uncle with the S430 is picking up a G35Coupe sometime this month. I'm trying to convince him to take up a manual instead of an automatic but his wife has to be able to drive it occassionally I guess. Plus rush hour on the 405 is hell if clutch is required. I'm sure I'll get to go test driving with him soon. Trying to sell him on an '03 M3 or go by Motorex here in Socal and check out the Skylines they've got for sale there. Hope you guys are doing well back in TX. Take care.

Civic, having a good time huh? You gotta give me a list of things to do in LA, I'm gonna be out there for about 4 days in July. I've only been there once about 12 years ago, so I don't really remember much of it.

Well after you guys left yesterday, they raced an M3 and the C32. It was a 0-100-0 race. I hauled ass out to my car for my camera, and got back just in time. I was trying to take a few rapid shots of the end of the race, but I forgot to change the mode of the camera, so I was too slow, and for some reason only got one. I was holding it above my head, so I didn't realize I didn't get the final position of the cars until I walked away. Here's the pic I got, the M3 stopped a bit farther than the C32, the ovals are where the cars stopped.

I forgot to mention my drive home yesterday from TMS. I just got on I-20 and I saw another silver CLS get on just a head of me. Since I don't see to many other CLs driving around, I figured I'd take a closer look and say hi. I noticed he was driving pretty fast, about 80-85, so I really had to speed to catch him. When I finally did I kinda cruised by him and caught his attention. He decided to play a little. I see him start comin up on me pretty quick, so I downshift and floor it. The headers definitely helped, I was only in 4th, but started pulling on him a bit, up to about 110. Then we hit some traffic so we slowed, and then my exit came up, so I cut over and as he went by we both waved. Pretty fun, since I hardly ever get anyone to play with, especially another CL.
But the weird thing was when I downshifted at about 90 i could only get into 4th. I would try to go into 3rd (in SS), but the 3 would just flash, then return to a 4. I was pretty sure 3rd topped out a lot higher than 90-100, but I didn't want to risk it and gate shift. So today, I did a little experiment... I got up to 90 again then downshifted to 4th, then sped up a bit, then tried to downshift to 3rd, but again it just blinked at me. So I tried again, and for some reason I happened to let off the gas, then bam, the revs went up and I was in 3rd with all that power right on tap. I would have really blown away the other CL yesterday if I had done that. So I tried it again, from 4th to 3rd with the gas down a bit, not even floored, and it just blinked 3 then returned to 4. Tried again letting off the gas and it worked. I don't know if you guys already knew about this, but I thought I'd share my findings with you. Kinda stange.

yeah, I noticed that issue a while ago. It does that between all gears, even between 1 & 2 if you're gate shifting. Always have to ease off the gas a bit to drop it in the lower gear.
God damnit, I need a 6 speed. :pout:

Well boys, I must say that the Mercedes event was VERY fun. My buddy Jeff and I got some small vids while in the C32, so I should have those posted later today.
I'm not sure if I mentioned, but after we left the Mercedes event, Jeff and I left for Houston. Actually we went to Huntsville, stayed the night there and went to Houston the next day to help the Houston Nissan Enthusiats (HNE) group get started. Anyway, we found a nice silver GS300 to follow down there. We got to Huntsville in 2 hours! Our average speed was around 110mph with a small little part where Jeff was doing 140 and I was doing 135! That is the fastest I've ever takin my car, and I must say that it handles it REALLY well. We took our time last night going about 85 and got back from Houston in about 3 hours. That was quite a fun trip.

to huntsville in 2 hours? not bad!
I think my dallas to h-town record is 2:15. And I did it in the 91 protege.
Well, I pick up a g35 today at noon, its not a coupe, and its not a 6 speed, but it beats driving around in that mazda. I'll have it until Saturday.

Sux that the G35 is an auto 4 door, but hey, it's a RWD VQ35DE!
