Dayum! That's exactly what I'm gonna have. I really wish you wouldn't have posted these pics... now I'm going to be itchin' for about 1.5 weeks until I get them on.

I'm just going to stare at these pics for a while... don't mind me.

Some dork over in the sac thread must have given us a thread rating of one so that they would be the only ones in club events with a 5 star rating. What a bunch of haters.

I figured I'd pay pack their "favor".

Hey dude, welcome to the board. A few of us met last Saturday night in Ennis to race a bit.

We don't have a meet scheduled right now, but we'll probably get one in before the summer is over.

You probably need to get newer codecs from good ol' microsoft.com If you have 6.4 or higher, the codecs should auto install.

Hey, thanks.
I came out of UNT in December 2000, and I go down there every so often to visit a couple of friends. Maybe I'll run into you down there one of these days. :P

Mantis,

Was that you in the CL running the WRX?

As for my being a TL on the CL Forum, somebody has to add some class over here. :P (j/k)

But I do have to keep you folks honest and uphold the TL reputation.

And this makes post 75 I suppose.

RUF

PS: Man I wish I could have been there.

Yep, that was me in the CL, and the guy in the WRX was my co-worker you met a Cafe Brazil.

You could hear those stock tires squealing like little girls. Its a good thing I get to retire them pretty soon.

I hope you can make it whenever we decide to head down that way again.

Yep, the traction and holeshot he got on you made it an easy win for the WRX.

It looked like one you hooked up you kept him from pulling you and possibly even gained on him on the big-end.

Traction certainly would have made it a much closer race.

I guess I'll have to show up next time and have a TLS show you CLS's how it's done.

Mantis, I'm not trying to kick you out of ACL.com or anything :P , but I thought you might enjoy this 350Z video. It's the same one that was posted in Car Talk, so you probably already saw it, but I just wanted to point it out.

It does look a little better in motion, hopefully it will continue to grow on me.

The guy's name is Alan, and the name of tghe Joint is Ntense Motorsports. The number is 214-852-0977. Call him up and tell him you know Aaron, and that you want some springs installed. If you want, I'll let him know to look out for ya.

Ohh, BTW, I'm headed to see Sigfried(sp?) & Roy in 1.5 hours.
Those damn tickets are expensive though.

Good thing craps pretty much paid for everything down here! I love vegas.

Check out the post #, yep, I've been whorin' again. And this page has gotten slow, so I figured I'd continue rambling over here.

Mantis,
David turns 21 in a couple of weeks and is real pumped about goin to Shreveport to do some gamblin. He says the odds are pretty good at craps, with Hi-Lo, and Hi-lo-yo, and horn bets and all. He says if he wins a lot, he's gonna buy me my comptech springs cause he's tired of my 4x4 . Bring on the double 6s!! I'd be going with him but I'm headed to San Jose, and Vegas myself. I'll have to try my hand at craps there. I hope David and I have better luck than you. How'd the rest of the vacation go?

Good luck to the both of yous. I stayed with "hard everything" for most of the night and got screwed in the end. The rest of the vacation was off the hook. I can't wait to go back because there is no way you can see everything in a 5 day period. Ohh, and prepare yourself for some REAL HEAT. Texas ain't got nothin' on the desert. The high temp never went below 105 the whole time I was down there. So be sure to drink a ton of water to offset the alcohol.

Sigfried & Roy can do some crazy shit.

Good job on the post whoring yesterday.

Well I went to a paintless dent repair place today on Cooper in Arlington. David told me about this place cause he went there a few months ago. They did an awesome job, it took the guy almost 2 hours cause the metal was dented from both sides. One where it was punched in the first place, and I think I dented it the other way when I punched it back out. He charged me $80, which was just fine for me. I'm soooo happy that dent is finally gone.

Clark,
The place is called D.D.S. Paintless Dent Repair (i don't know what the D.D.S. stands for). It's between Mayfield & Arkansas on the east side of Cooper. It's pretty hard to find, I pulled into like 4 drives before I found the right one. I would call and get good directions if you head over there. The guy's name is Mike Fitzpatrick, Cell #: 817-825-3088, Work #: 817-467-3744. If you've just got a small dent or two, it shouldn't be too expensive. He only charged my friend $40 to pop out his small dent.

This is kind of late, but hey I am new. If anyone still needs help with audio installs or box design/construction in the metroplex. I am more than willing, in return for a little knowledge and advice about mods. I have 12 years and a few IASCA comp cars worth of experience. But I know next to nothing about tunning a Vtec 6.
PM or e-mail me at Peabro@prodigy.net. And is there any meets bieng planned? I missed the last one

Welcome to the board allsock. (is that supposed to be allstock?)
Anyway, want to help me install my system? I've got all the speakers and an amp, here is what I have.

2 12" Eclipse Aluminum Subs 88120DVC
Focal Utopia 165w (Front)
Focal Audiom 6w (Rear)
Soundstream Rubicon 805 (5 Channel)

I'd need help making the box (or buying one). And a little info about caps and whether or not I need one.

This stuff has been sitting in my apt for 3 months now. and I'm sick of waiting on my install guy. Help me out?

I'd be ready whenever you are.

the rub850 as I remember is 50by4 at 4 ohms and 150by1 for the sub channel. I would definitely say cap it with at least a 1 farad stiffening cap or the bass transient will kill your current and cause distortion above 120 hertz. What kind of bass do you want impact? clarity? or a combination? and how much trunk space do you want to lose? With the dual vc eclipse metal cones I would highly recommend small sealed enclosure. not as much base(close thou) but allot tighter and the bass you get will have better impact. Ported enclosures with 2 12's of that sort rattle lose license tags but sound very blurry. IMHO Focal makes the best speakers bar none. Focals can be found in everything from 250k Wilson audio speakers on down. The 165w uses the tioxyd (tn 51) tweeter I believe, this tweeter has the smoothest sound of any metal tweeter I have heard. The midbass driver is a 7" unit I believe. Will this fit in the cl doors, without serious mods? the 6w is a 6.5" midbass driver right? If you tell me what kind of bass you want and what location you were planning on for the focals I can draw up a box design. And measure the trunk of my car to try and get some ideas. Also is there any other equipment you plan on installing such as headunit , separate crossovers, parametric, etc…? And what kind of music do you listen to and what levels? A lot of questions I know but it will make the diffrence between Best Buy sound and best sound.

Let's see, where to start.
The 165Ws have a 6.5" midbass driver. I bought them from a guy who had them in his TL. From what I've read, everyone says the 165Ws will fit in the front, and all the need is an MDF baffle for spacing or something like that. As for the 6Ws, I was just planning on stuffing them where the 6x9s curently are. Is this not a good idea?

As for trunk space, I'd like to keep as much as possible. I want tight, clean bass, not the stuff that rattles the whole damn car.

Headunit? Not now, but probably in a couple of months.

I didn't plan on getting crossovers or parametrics.

I listen to pretty much everything except country and heavy metal. For the most part I listen to Hip Hop & R&B, Trance, Techno, jazz, classical, lets just say everything. All I really want is decent clean bass, and a nice full sound.

Heh, I still mud too. Not as much as I used to though since I'm out of school. The admin / immorts hate me there anyway, so I hardly play anymore.

Yeah, yer right about the Rub805

Here are the specs
Rubicon 805
Rated Power (4 ohms, 12.6V): 50Wx4 + 200W x 1
Rated Power (2 ohms, 14.4V): 100Wx4 + 300W x 1 or 4ooW x 1 (1ohm)
Maximum Rated RMS Power: 800W
Minumum Load Impedance: 2 ohm, 1 ohm(sub)
On Board Crossover: 12dB/oct HP/BP, 24dB/oct LP
Power and Ground Connectors (gauge): 4
Dimensions (WxDxH in):19 x 11 3/8 x 2 1/4
Dimensions (WxDxH mm):483x288x57
THD: <0.1% (20Hz to 20kHz)4ohm, 12.6v
Signal-to-Noise: <100dB

Question, why wouldn't I want to do the 2 ohms @ 100Wx4?

Thanks a lot for the help.

You could but with a sensitivity of 92.5 db for the 165w (that sensitivity mixed with 50 clean watts is approx equal to 115 decibels) it is probally not needed. Amps tend to run hotter at lower impedance loads, plus your distortion ratings as based on 4 ohm loads, anything below that and they go up. I cant rember with that amp if it can run mixed impedance loads (i.e. 4 ohms for 4 channels and 2 ohms for sub channel), if not its 2 ohms across the board.

Hmm, I have no idea if it can run mixed impedance or not either. Should I be able to switch the impedance around? Or does the amp set the impedance on its own? I don't know much, I'm just trying to learn.

The impedance(ohms) the amp sees is a result of the combined impedance of the speaker that are conncected per channel. So basically you can chose the impedance by choosing you speaker wiring sequence. It will work either way, I am just geekin a bit.

And I hope to make the next meet as well, I am really looking forward to making a couple of passes. I have never been to Ennis, are these events a "run what you brung" deal? To be honest I wasnt real sure if I would love the car when I got it, but my wife loved it so I agreed. Now that I have it you would have to pry the keys out of my cold dead hands to get them away from me. I freegin love this car and the 6 rocks, rubber in three gears plus style and lxury, you cant beat it.
