Wow that took FOREVER. Between Lion and iOS5, I was probably downloading for 6-7 hours last night. Updated my iPhone this morning, lost all my apps.
Loving iOS5 so far. Imessage is pretty cool and I'm loving the notifications not interfering with what you're doing.
so far. Will be doing my wife's iPhone and the iPad updates tonight. Hopefullly will keep the apps on.

I was shocked to hear that people were waiting hours to download the files.
Do you still have to be jailbroken to use custom tones that aren't purchased through iTunes?

I don't know what sorta connections everyone else is using, but I did the upgrade last night around 8pm for my iPhone and iPad and on my FIOS connection it took about 10 minutes to download and I had to download it twice, once for each device. I guess I must be closer to a data center they are hosting the files at. I was shocked to hear that people were waiting hours to download the files.

If they did a restore/sync from the computer why would they have to download all the apps from the store again? Shouldn't the computer already have had their apps downloaded?

iFixit is currently performing a teardown of the iPhone 4S, and while it isn’t yet finished, it has gotten far enough to reveal some noteworthy facts about the new handset. Most prominently, it has confirmed that the iPhone 4S features 512MB of RAM—the same amount as the iPhone 4 and iPad 2. It also features the linear oscillating vibrator found in the CDMA iPhone 4, which is said to be softer and quieter than the rotational electric motor found in the prior GSM model, and communications chips from Skyworks and Qualcomm, including the MDM6610 Gobi chipset, which is responsible for the handset’s communication with both GSM and CDMA networks. We will update this article if and when any further noteworthy discoveries are made.

ringtone used to be 40 seconds... did they change that on iOS5?

anyone have issues with their ebook covers being defaulted to the ibook generic cover rather than showing the actual ebook cover? many of my books that were showing a custom cover previously now show the generic cover.
