I know the first game was last night, I watched it, and yes we lost with a minute and a half left in the OT because one of our rookie D coughed up the puck in front of the net. Chucky gave them plenty of reason to keep him around last night with his play and the 2 goals. Will be interesting to see where he lands. I'll be at the game tonight

The media's still working the kinks out during preseason putting Andrew Ferences picture with Loui Eriksson's stats.

Ovechkin receiving a extremely mild check and somehow breaks and knocks a glass panel out. That arena they used in Baltimore isn't worthy of a beer league.

New rule enforcement for 2013-2014 season. How many minutes in penalties do you see in this picture?
The correct answer is 2 minutes for tucking the back of your jersey in. Supposedly this is going to be strictly enforced this year.

^^ That rule is about as stupid as Shananananananban running the discipline for the league.

So, someone explain to me the logic behind the tuck-jersey rule? Because, at initial glance, it has got to be one of the stupidest ones I've ever heard...in all of sports.
Trolling Canuckistan
I've gone beyond the initial glance and it still seems like a stupid rule. I actually read through the NHL rule book for 13/14 as well as the one for 07/08 (they claim this rule has been around for 50 years) and have found nothing in "section 3 equipment" that mentions tucking the jersey. The only thing that comes close is the rule regarding jerseys being tied down "properly". I'm guessing that somehow a tucked in jersey isn't considered "properly tied down" but

Not according to the league.
The person who I think this rule is going to hurt the most is Ovechkin. I don't think he'll be able to bend over without choking himself once that gigantic ass pad is inside his shirt.
The league contends that the “no tuck” rule has been part of the rulebook for 50 years, but officials will be strictly enforcing it for the 2013-14 season for the first time. Officials will give a warning to a player before administering the two-minute penalty. Repeated infractions could lead to a 10-minute penalty or even a game misconduct.

I believe it's a comfort thing. Imagine having a 2 foot piece of hard plastic that runs from your tailbone up to the middle of your back. Now tuck that inside your jersey and bend down. I'm guessing this makes the collar on your jersey pull into your neck. I've always assumed that tucking the back of the jersey into the butt protector keeps the back of the jersey from being pulled on and keeps it from choking you. It's not just the Russians, the jersey tuck is an international move.

So Semin (who got the first tucked jersey penalty) and his trainers thought they found a solution to the jersey issue.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...y-tuck-penalty
There's only one problem with that solution, it would appear to violate another rule.
I would assume that stitching your jersey to your pants would be considered an alteration of some kind and the rule forbids alterations of any kind.
The Carolina Hurricanes' sniper came out with two stitches attaching his jersey to his pants to avoid it coming up again when he shot the puck. Semin, along with other NHL players, frequently has the jersey come up over his hip and accidentally violate this new rule.

One things for sure, the 2 minute delay of game penalty for a puck over the glass now has some competition for the stupidest rule in the NHL.

The conspiracy theorist in me says enforcement of this rule is just to show potential investors that sponsorship logos will be visible during the game. How far away are we from this?
