The sizzle in the Steak
Miller:
Last 10 Games: 7 GP (2-3-2), 3.11 GAA, .910 SV%
Key Indicators: He was a top story for Team USA at the 2010 Olympics and could easily play the same role again. Miller ranks inside the top 30 in even-strength save percentage among goalies with 800 or more saves.
Stock: Miller's stock remains the same. His status as the American starting goalie is not certain, but his reputation may get him the first opportunity. The veteran may not give anyone else a chance if he is named starter.
Quick:
Last 10 Games: 9 GP (2-6-1), 2.16 GAA, .910 SV%
Key Indicators: Quick enters the Olympics as a strong option for No. 1 goalie for Team USA. He ranks among the league's 30 best goalies in save percentage.
Stock: His stock is rising. Quick's status as an elite goalie took an early shot when he struggled in October and then missed time to injury. Since returning, he's been very good and could be the starter in Sochi.

@ Jimmay Howard...he's as good as Corey Crawford...if not worse. At least Crow stepped up and got a Cup.
Still say, it's a toss-up between Quick and Miller Time in the round-robin. Bylsma will then go with the hot hand and ride that goalie in the medal rounds.

Team Canada is more interesting. But, I also think Babs will employ the same strategy...go with a rotation between Louuuuu and Price and see who is hot come time for the medal rounds.
But, all three Canadian goalies have shown the ability to go and meltdown...so, pick your poison.

What about Russia?
I'm not sure where you found the last 10 games stats, but here's a nice stat for Bobrovsky:
"Bobrovsky, last season's Vezina Trophy winner, is 10-2-0 with a 2.17 goals-against average in his last 12 starts after missing 14 games because of a groin strain."
Either way, it's going to be fun to watch. As a Buffalo fan I'm excited to see Miller play. As much as I want him to play in Buffalo, I'm hoping if he plays well enough in Sochi it will make his stock rise and he can get traded to a contender for some nice prospects.

Team Sweden's hockey roster is now set for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. It features a good blend of young talent and veteran experience throughout the squad. Surprisingly, talented young defenceman Jonas Brodin and Victor Hedman were not included on the team.
Expect Sweden to be not only a threat to earn a medal but to play for gold, a real possibility given the talent and depth they have at each position.
Sweden comes into the event as the 2013 IIHF World Champions. With strong play from their top stars and the Sedin twins headlining, they should cause fits for all of their opponents.
What follows is the full 25-man roster followed by a breakdown of the team by lines, pairings, goaltenders and additional players.

A new low for Florida...
http://nesn.com/2014/02/florida-pant...-game-tickets/
The Panthers announced Tuesday that any fan who turns in $10 worth of non-winning (yes, non-winning) Florida Lottery scratch tickets will receive one upper-level ticket to a Tuesday or Thursday home game of his or her choice. The promotion runs through March 29, but February might be the best time to get in on the action. The Panthers host the Toronto Maple Leafs this Tuesday, the Detroit Red Wings this Thursday and the Washington Capitals on Feb. 27 in their first game after the Olympic break. The March slate is far less compelling, with the Phoenix Coyotes, Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes filling Florida’s only Tuesday/Thursday home dates.

Finland is strong in net but what do they have on offense? They aren't going to shutout every team they play. And how many teams rotate goalies during the tournament? It would be advantageous to have 3 stellar goalies if they were playing a whole season, but it shouldn't be a big factor in the tournament. You can't really make a good argument to show that any one of the Finnish goalies is distinctively better than Miller (or Quick) as of now.
I'm not saying Finland can't win, but they're definitely not in my top 4. I'd say Canada, Sweden, US and Russia (in no particular order).
For Sweden, I'd be worried that Lundqvist is having only a mediocre year, and they don't have much for a #2 if things go sour early. Canada and U.S. are solid in net with veteran goalies. With Russia, you have two goalies that are playing great right now in Bobrovsky in Varlamov. However, neither have much (if any?) playoff experience. This is crucial when it's all on the line.
P.S. were you joking with the whole Finland thing?

And to be fair to the European hockey teams, USA and Canada has historically tended to play meh on International ice. In Vancouver, it favored the North Americans...
But, in Sochi, not so much.
Anyone read about the gross water over there? I'm waiting eagerly to see apple-juice-colored ice.

Contract and relocate.....the Count will never learn.
Relocate/contract Phoenix, Dallas, Florida, Carolina, Columbus, and perhaps Nashville too.
Put another team in the Ontario area, put a team back in Quebec, put a team in Seattle.
Thankfully the Isles are moving to Brooklyn.

Poo says Kings and Oil big deal going down (E4)
Big?
Unless the Kings are going to unload some serious salary contract players on the Oil....doubtful......not to mention Kings will want that Oil youth.....doubt the oil is going to give up the current/future talent for some big money half-ass talent.

Bottom line is this. If this were an NHL season or even a 7 game best of 7, Canada would wipe the floor with any team, period end of story. Sorry to hurt your feelings.
But its not, so its entirely up for grabs by any of the generally considered top 5 or 6 teams. (Canada, US, Russia, Fins, Swedes and the Czech's)
I'm going with Russia. Home ice and pride can be a powerful thing. And like Yumchah said, Canada and the US don't play well on the big ice.

Waldorf, I'm sure Sutter will love a floating forward who plays no-D on the Kings roster.

But that would be bad for Dom. Had he realized what Florida was doing in time, he could have grabbed the kids, hopped a flight to Florida, show the kids what the sun looks like, blow 30-40 bucks on lottery tickets, then take them to see the Leafs play and he would have saved a lot of money over seeing them play in Toronto.
