Claude Giroux has surgery after bizarre golfing injury yesterday.
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=6...d=nhl:topheads
"Giroux was golfing today when his golf club shattered and splintered into his index finger," general manager Paul Holmgren said in a statement. "Although there were no broken bones, there was some damage to his extensor tendons in his finger. He is expected to have a full recovery in 5-6 weeks."
The surgery was performed at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
"It was just a freak thing," Giroux told the (Philadelphia) Daily News. "I was taking a swing and my club hit a little behind the ball. The shaft of the club shattered, but my hand kept going on the swing and the shattered part went right into my finger."

Roberto Luongo apparently doesn't have to worry about anyone pumping his tires anymore, mostly because they've all been stolen along with his wheels.

No worries, I'm just regular Irish (the drunk kind that would rather starve to death than not eat potatoes) not mob Irish. When I wear a Red Sox hat, it's green not white.

Sounds about right... Team USA had their camp, Shero is the GM, Bylsma is the coach, Granato the assistant coach, and one of their video replay coaches is there as well, needless to say, Team USA is doomed....
On another note. My son was asked to play Rep hockey this season. Didn't try him out because he wasn't interested and he still doesn't want to play. Wants to stay in House league.
For shame. I've obviously failed as a Canadian. And Hockey dad.

Glad you took your son's opinion on the matter over your own.
No need to play travel/rep if you kid does not want all that pressure & ultra-competitiveness.
In house is fine......especially if it nurtures his love for playing the game.

may still have a chance at pro hockey after all according to NHL.com, he could be 1/6th of the best top 6 forward groups in the league.

Shero also signed Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis each to a long-term contract. Put those two with Crosby, Malkin, James Neal and someone who can skate backward without falling, and the Penguins have one of the best top-six forward groups in the League.
