In the aftermath of the hit, Mike Richards jumped on Morrow. Both players got five-minute fighting majors, but Richards also got a minor for instigating, a minor for unsportsmanlike conduct and a 10-minute misconduct, the latter two penalties because he instigated the fight while wearing a visor. That’s a mandatory penalty. After the game though, through his Twitter account, Richards wrote, “So the NHL thinks we should all wear visors so [sic] why do we get penalized if we fight with them on?’’ Within 40 minutes, Richards had deleted the entry.

...Be serious, Mike. Don't be clown. Man up and take off the helmet, or don't throw down.

Hey dom...I know it's Monday. But, just thought you'd like to know that the Chicago Blackhawks would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Leaves for Stalberg and Hayes.

How's Versteeg working out for the team?

But, honestly...don't really care much about the happenings of the Oil. Unless it's the price at the pump.

It may be a shock to you...but, I rarely tune into local news. My RSS feeds are usually mostly world or national.

Rangers should Be rested for their next game, they certainly did not show up in Montreal last night.

They said they are 126 games under .500 in Montreal lifetime. WOW.

Sidney Crosby to meet with specialist as symptoms linger

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby will meet with a specialist this week because of lingering concussion-like symptoms.

Crosby hasn't played since Dec. 5 after a recurrence of the symptoms that sidelined him for more than 10 months last year. The team says Crosby will work with chiropractic neurologist Dr. Ted Carrick, who treated Crosby for similar symptoms last summer.

The 24-year-old star skated with his teammates for the first time in more than a month last Friday, a first step in what could be another long comeback. He has had dizziness and headaches and problems exerting himself at a high level.

Shut it down, Sid. Is it really worth your quality of life?
You played a handful of games and then you were out again with returning symptoms.

Call the season over. Chalk it up to the re-hab season. Come back after the lock-out with PLENTY of time to fully recover.

This is the "concussion whisperer" we were talking about a few pages back.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=6...id=DL|NHL|home

Carrick specializes in a field called chiropractic neurology, which attempts to help concussion victims heal with various exercises but without medication. The field is considered non-traditional, and some medical doctors have said that unorthodox treatments, such as putting a concussion victim into a tumbling chair, could be counterproductive and might actually worsen a patient's condition.

My Avs got embarrassed by the Yotes last night.

I am not a Wings fan but I did enjoy the show they put on though for the first half of their game yesterday in destroying the Sabres for the first period and a half then I got bored.

Interesting...because in the NHL last night the Colorado Avalanche also lost to the Phoenix Coyotes last night as well.

Coincidence?

Okay...not into hyping rookies but, WTF @ Andrew Shaw of the Hawks. 5 goals in only 8 games with the team.

Not bad for a 5th round pick in the recent draft.

Pancake Penner!!!!

Pancakes are the best thing to happen to (a) breakfast and (b) Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Penner.

Ever since he disclosed that he injured himself while eating a stack of "delicious pancakes" — unintentionally hilarious, given his notorious lack of conditioning — Penner has been a tremendously good sport about it. There was his "open letter" response to the story; his hilarious self-deprecating performance while interviewing his teammates; and now, the autograph above.

From reader Andrew Lam:
Just thought you might like to see what a box of Aunt Jemima's 'Just add water' box signed by Dustin Penner might look like. My friend Jenn (@whatsername10) got it signed when he was in Calgary Saturday before the game. He was a good sport about it and gave us a chuckle and a "that's nice" to go with it.

Pancake Power struck on Tuesday night at the Vancouver Canucks: Penner scored just his third of the season in the first period. Wonder what inspired him ...
