Defenceman Kyle Quincey was traded twice in the matter of minutes on Tuesday. In the first deal, the Tampa Bay Lightning dealt forward Steve Downie to the Colorado Avalanche for Quincey. The Lightning then dealt Quincey to the Detroit Red Wings for a first round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and minor-league defenceman Sebastien Piche.

Looks like the Wings get back their "mistake" after all these years.

Wasn't Quincey a Wing to start with?

Show me how many President's Trophy winners have sipped from the Cup, mkay?

Just making the dance is good. Certainly, home ice helps. But, it's no biggie.

It has happened many times & 50% of the time the Rangers have won it, they won the cup.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidents%27_Trophy

Also, the Rangers are infinitely more likely to win the Prez than the Cup.

Kings got back to backs tonight and tomorrow.

Do or die.

The results of these two games are going to determine the future of the franchise on many levels.

BLUE JACKETS TRADE VETERAN F VERMETTE TO COYOTES

The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded veteran forward Antoine Vermette to the Phoenix Coyotes for a second round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft (via Ottawa), a conditional fifth round selection in the 2013 Draft and minor-league goaltender Curtis McElhinney.

Vermette, who is in just the second year of a five-year, $18.75 million contract, has spent the last four years with the Blue Jackets.

The 29-year-old is in his eighth season in the NHL; he's played with both Columbus and the Ottawa Senators.

Vermette also brings 42 games of playoff experience to the table; he helped Ottawa to the Stanley Cup Final in 2006-07 before losing to the Anaheim Ducks.

The second round pick was acquired by the Coyotes in the Kyle Turris deal. The fifth round pick in 2013 becomes a fourth round selection if the Coyotes win a playoff round this year.

Avalanche management please fire Sacco and then Sherman fire yourself. I don't care who you replace him with but also higher a goalie coach. Varlamov can be a good goalie he is just young and needs actual goalie coach. Not sure why they would trade two high picks for him and then say we don't need a position coach to work with him.

Toronto has what Brian Burke keeps telling us is the best goalie coach EVAR! in Francois Allaire. Yet our goal tending has sucked balls for 3 years running now....

That's why Poo says we're trading for Bernier.

In this case I hope he is. Even though I have no clue who Bernier is and whether he can play. Yumchah without equipment is better than what the Leaves have now.

Well I don't think after one year it is worth tossing him after what they gave up to get him. Do I think the trade they made to get him was stupid? Absolutely. I think it was even worse though not to bring in a coach to work with him. I would love to see them bring Patrick Roy in as a Assistant/Goalie Coach. He has expressed interest in coaching in the organization and I think it would be good for Varlamov.

He was pretty damn good while in DC. We have two goalie coach. He's just prone to groin injuries. Better than the veteran goalie most here was screaming that certain teams needed two years ago.

Yeah he was prone to injuries and this year he managed to stay healthy so far....knock on wood....but instead had no coaching to help him besides Giguere.

What reason would sane ownership keep him around?

This is his rebuild, his players, his coaches.
