What you're ignoring is that none of this, NOTHING is an exact science. They know very little about concussions and how long it takes to heal if ever. Its all just guess work at this point. So what if an impact test came back ok, there's still no way to know what another severe blow to the head will do or how severe a blow it even has to be.
This isn't a torn MCL. The science on concussions is in its infancy, nobody can make claims on being someone healed at this point.
I'm not suggesting he take the year off or retire, problem is, no one else knows what to do either, at least not with any certainty.

Although I'm sure we'll see the retirement stories in Toronto papers by tomorrow.

I'm not ignoring any of it, I've read more about his brain and concussion than anyone on this board. I am fine with him sitting if he's not 100%. I was one of the people saying he should come back when he's ready and not rush it. If he's not 100% then I want him to sit. What I am arguing is the media saying he's out forever and needs to retire because he got a freaking headache, like I said above, it's a precaution, and he'll play when he's ready. It sucks that it's a setback yes, no one is denying that. But his career isn't over because of a headache
Pop a couple of advil and get on the ice you pansy!

All kidding aside, no doubt the 'R' word will get tossed around by writers. But it has to be the same story in Pittsburgh doesn't it? Let me know what's the 1 (part time) hockey reporter in Pittsburgh has to say about this.

Just take a look at Marc Savard's twitter sometime if you want an example of playing too soon after a concussion. Pretty frequently he complains of bad headaches, it's pretty sad to see...

Official: Kings Fire Murray!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Following a string of disappointing performances including their fourth straight loss on Saturday, the low-scoring Los Angeles Kings fired head coach Terry Murray on Monday.
Kings assistant coach John Stevens has been named the team's interim head coach.
Murray, who is under contract through the 2012-13 season, becomes the fourth NHL head coach to be dismissed this season. St. Louis shipped Davis Payne out to bring in Ken Hitchcock, Washington cut ties with Bruce Boudreau and Paul Maurice was relieved of his head coaching duties in Carolina.
Murray, who coached his 1,000th NHL game Nov. 12 and is one victory from No. 500 in his career, took over coaching duties in Los Angeles before the 2008-09 season. He guided the Kings to the playoffs twice but lost in the first round in six games each time. The Kings (13-12-4) sit 12th in the Western Conference and have scored the fewest in the conference - 65 goals - while giving up 67.
The Kings open a four-game trip Tuesday against the defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins.

Time to bond on the road trip without Murray.
Team will come together and find a way to win.
Unleash the offense that has been missing. The talent has always been there, but the system killed it.
Thanks for developing the kids, Terry....great job!.....time to move on.
Losing streak will probably go on for a bit as adjustments are made to a different system....but it should post dividends in the goals for category.

Don't doubt Deano. He's a great GM.

Be interesting to see how Philly goes for the next bit with Pronger and Giroux out with concussions...
Ass whooping ...

Probably felt lucky to win against a Kings team with such a Hart, Norris, Calder, and Smythe candidate, huh?

Okay, slapsticking aside, WTFBBQ is with all the concussions lately...?
Niner Faithful
I was watching the Rangers - Stars game last night and during intermission they had a twitter questions asking the same things.
Basically they said that older players probably just played through the concussions not knowing any better, not to mention the players are just getting bigger and faster.

OK, those of you that kept saying that the Hawks and/or Caps should trade to get Vokoun a year or so ago. Where are you know that he lets in goals that could be shot be a 10 yr old.
Last night was like his fifth game this year letting in 5+ goals. I'm mean players aren't even shooting the puck at him, more like just dumping for a "shot on goal" and the crap is going in.

Trolling Canuckistan
All joking aside, the kid seems to have a pretty good hockey iq and wasn't afraid to put the puck on net. Tuukka was just a puck stopping machine last night.
