Wow...seriously, the Florida Blackhawks are impressing me.
Trolling Canuckistan
That's not the Panthers I remember from seasons past. Very good display of hard team hockey by both sides for roughly 57.5 minutes before the goaltender battle was one to zero. Has to be freakin' Theodure, I have bad memories from his time as a stinkin' Hab and now he does it with Florida.
LFG RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Then the Rangers had too many quality chances in ot and they lost in the shootout AGAIN.
Seemed just like the Rangers of old.

It was a very nice goal. I agree the celebration was not a good idea but funny yes. That was a painful game. The first TB goal was a giveaway clearing dump attempt/centering pass to TB. and the second TB goal was freaking shorthanded with a minute and change left.

They do seem different which makes it that much more frustrating when they give a game away like they used to.
On some levels it's worse because I have hope this year will be different (can I dream of a second round elimination)?

Rogers Communications and Bell to buy MLSE (Leafs, Raptors, FC, Marlies + building, + 2 Channels +++) for 2 billion $$.
Hooray for another faceless owner!

I was thinking dom would be so happy with the announcement of the sale...but, nope.
He has a player in the top 5 in scoring. Yup. Toronto is playing above .500 hockey...and looks to make the playoffs...
Still, not happy.
Honestly, I think dom is the Mizouse of the hockey thread.

How much trouble are you in when they suspend you indefinitely and give you the "option" of coming in for a hearing? I would guess that's Shanny's way of saying, "there's nothing you can say or do that will save you but I'm willing to go through the motions."
Edmonton defenseman Andy Sutton has been suspended indefinitely by the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety for his hit on Alexei Ponikarovsky of the Carolina Hurricanes during the third period of Wednesday's game.
Sutton has been offered the option of an in-person hearing.
The NHL suspended Sutton for five games earlier this season for a hit to the head of Colorado's Gabriel Landeskog during an Oct. 28 game in Denver.

Well, there was all this worry and crying that the Shana-bans would ruin this season...
So far, so good.

It was a vicious leaping hit to the head, I'm not saying it's not deserved. I just found the wording a little odd. To me it reads, we're banning you forever but if you want to come talk about it we'll let you, we won't listen but feel free to come and talk.

Clearing out the dead wood....slowly:
Kings put Ethan Moreau on waivers.

^^ and with that the Kings elect to keep Voynov up with the big boys....was only a matter of time
JMFJ leads the Kings D with a paltry 5 goals and 10 points in 28 games played
In contrast...
Voynov has 4 goals and 7 points in 16 games played.

There's this kid called Ryan Nugent-Hopkins...yeah, he has 30 points which places him among the League leaders in scoring.
THAT guy, I know who he is. But, Hoyrov...? Never heard of him.

...blood in the water......tick-tock on the fire Terry Murray clock
The sizzle in the Steak
Interim coach for now.
Dave Tippett for next year...IIRC his contract is done at the end of this year.
Time to make amends for bad decisions in the past and bring Dave back to the Kings where he should have been all along.

^ Yeah, just read that Murray's time with the Kings is pretty much over.
No way a team with that build should be sucking so badly. It's either the coach or players...and you can't fire the latter.

The sizzle in the Steak
In cases like this it is rarely the players.
They don't all magically go into unimaginable slumps...every player across the board.
Not to mention Terry Murray's track record with players that were around before him and what happened to them when they left.
Cases in point: Frolov was a 30 goal guy before Terry Murray got ahold of him. Teddy Purcell, Matt Moulson, Brian Boyle, just look at these guys stats after they left the Murray system and joined other teams......Even Poni of all players on track for quite a better season than he had in L.A.
Murray was a "step" coach to the way to The Cup.....no a coach that can bring you a Cup. He served his purpose well, but should have been canned halfway through last season.....his work has long been done.

Horrible!!!
Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby is out indefinitely with concussion-like symptoms.
Crosby said Monday he noticed a recurrence of the problems that sidelined him for more than 10 months earlier this year following a 3-1 loss to Boston last week.
Crosby sat out Pittsburgh's two-game road trip to Philadelphia and New York as a precaution but said he's noticed familiar symptoms during light workouts over the weekend.
“I did my ImPACT test and it went pretty good,” he said Monday, referring to a test used on athletes after concussions, according to the Pens website. “That was a good sign. It's much different than previously going through that stuff. That was encouraging. I skated the following day after with exertion. I just didn't feel right.
“After talking with everyone I figured it was better to be cautious and not take any chances. That's where I'm at right now.”
The 24-year-old former MVP said there is no timetable for his return but he will definitely not play on Tuesday against Detroit.
Crosby has 12 points in eight games this season, but hasn't scored since his season debut on Nov. 23 against the Islanders.
Crosby called the setback beyond frustrating but stressed it was important to be safe.

Crosby should have shut it down for the entire season.
Now he is damaged again.
It's time to start thinking about your LIFE, Sid......and not just about hockey.
