Sean Avery backs same-sex marriage

I treat everyone the way I expect to be treated...
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/n...ory?id=6501411

I don't have a strong opinion on same-sex marriage, but couldn't they have selected someone with a bit more credibility for this campaign?

Well, proves what I've thought of him for years.

"Sean Avery knows what it means to be a leader -- on and off the ice," Brian Ellner, senior New York strategist for the Human Rights Campaign, a national gay-rights group, said in a released statement.
Guess he didn't actually read what Avery said that got him suspended from the league.

He was displaying leadership in those statements as well. If someone else gets your sloppy seconds, that makes you the leader.

Dear San Jose,

If you are doing your best Vancouver Canucks impression in letting a team come back from 3-zip, just keep in mind that the Detroit Red Wings do not have an entire 3rd and 4th line gone from last season. They are deep. If you play Game 7, you will lose...and piss off a potential "fan" in Yumcha forever.

Sincerely,
Yumcha

Hockey Development: Proposed rule change for legal body checking to start at Bantam

The proposed rule change will move the age of legal body checking in games from 12+Under (Pee Wee) to 14+Under (Bantam). The following materials will answer your questions about the rule change proposal.
http://www.usahockey.com//Template_U...T_03&ID=299508

I think it's a good idea.
It allows for more time for skating, stick handling, positional skills to develop stronger, before you mix in the hitting.

Your thoughts?

I say the NHL should outlaw checking, period. So that the Sedin twins can show off their true skillz and Crosby can lace up his skates again.

While I tend to agree, it could also lead to them growing into the habit of not keeping their head up. If no ones going to check you, you can get away with staring at the ice. If the kids are bigger and stronger skaters when they start checking, the consequences of having your head down could be more severe.

It's tough to keep kids completely safe when playing a dangerous sport.

They played the Canucks really well...but, their lack of punch ultimately owned them.

Good series...definitely made Vancouver sweat for it.

Even at the Mite level, we are already teaching kids to keep their heads up when they play. We're talking 5 year olds and up. Keeping your head up not only will keep you safe down the road (from potential injury from a hit), but also makes you a better player in terms of reading plays, looking for passing lanes, and playing better positionally.

IMHO if you are still skating with your head down (with or without hitting) at 11-12 years old, you've got bigger problems in terms of skill.

Took a half day off, getting ready to roll down to The Joe soon. May the good Lord of hockey bless Mrs. Fibo for tolerating my antics.

The 2 teams I rooted for in the East got sweeps, and I've been rooting for the Preds and Sharks in the West, but not looking as good this go round. Hoping the Sharks can win 1 more since the stupid preds let me down

Lucky for you...you put the red text on that beer.

Drinking my beer of choice last year didn't lead to any issues with the Hawks.

I actually switched to domestic this year and look what happened.

Offense...? Please refer to Game 5 where they choked a 3-1 lead. Sorry dude...but, like I said, Detroit is not the same as Chicago who lost 9 players from the prior year. They are deep.

Your Sharks are going to lose Game 7. Book it.
