Nice win by the Canucks. Let's hope they don't go to their usual habit of blowing a nice series lead.

That's cuz the Nucks only go after people who are not big. San Jose is not a pint-sized team and have hitters...

Blackhawks agree to terms with Corey Crawford
Thursday, 05.19.2011 / 3:20 PM / News
By Chicago Blackhawks
Corey Crawford The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with goaltender Corey Crawford on a three-year contract.
Crawford, 26, paced rookie goaltenders with 33 wins (33-18-6), tied for rookie lead with four shutouts and ranked eighth among National Hockey League netminders with a 2.30 goals-against-average during the 2010-11 regular-season. He also led all NHL rookies with a .927 save percentage and a 2.21 GAA in seven Stanley Cup Playoff contests.
During the 2010-11 campaign, his first full NHL season, the Montreal, Quebec, native became the second Blackhawks goaltender since 1994 to reach the 30-win plateau. He tied a franchise rookie record established in 1963 with eight consecutive wins in February and March, and earned the victory in seven consecutive starts in November and December. Crawford compiled a 176:09 shutout streak in January, the longest by a Chicago netminder since Tony Esposito in 1972 and turned aside 16-of-19 shootout attempts during the season, including all eight he faced at the United Center.
Chicago’s second selection (52nd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Crawford has compiled a 34-21-12 record, 2.33 GAA and .917 save percentage in 65 regular-season tilts since making his NHL debut with the Blackhawks during the 2005-06 season. He also piled up 144 wins over parts of five seasons in the American Hockey League with the Rockford IceHogs and Norfolk Admirals.

Vs. just announced that Thrashers sold to group in Winnipeg. NHL to announce Tuesday, but NHL is denying report.

From TSN...
Sources tell TSN that a reported agreement to move the Atlanta Thrashers to Winnipeg has not yet been reached and that talks are continuing.
The Globe and Mail reported on Thursday night that an agreement had been reached where owners Atlanta Spirit would sell the Thrashers to Winnipeg-based True North Sports and Entertainment, and that an announcement to officially move the team to Winnipeg would come Tuesday.
Primary sources in both Winnipeg and Atlanta told TSN late Thursday night that there are still significant issues being negotiated.
NHL sources have also told TSN that the deal to sell the team is not yet complete.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, who attended the Bruins-Lightning game in Tampa on Thursday night, has no plans to travel to Winnipeg on Friday.

Winnipeg - goes to the obvious Northwest Division
Colorado - moves to the Pacific Division
Dallas - moves to the Central Division (for the blue jackets)

^ Agree...and move the North St...er, Wild back to the Central. And the Winnipeg Thrashers can go duke it out in Minny's old spot.

Personally, I wish the NHL kept Detroit and Chicago with Boston and Toronto. Why they are not in a conference together is a pity.

Still nothing official yet from the League, but inching closer...happy for the city of Winnipeg...

Boogaard's Death
The cause of death of New York Rangers forward Derek Boogaard has been ruled accidental and attributed to a mixture of drugs and alcohol.
The Hennepin County (Minn.) Medical Examiner's office listed the cause of death as a mixture of alcohol and oxycodone toxicity. Oxycodone is categorized as a painkiller. The report said the manner of death was accidental and that no other data will be released.

It astounds me that a city the size of Hotlanta can't support a hockey club, especially with all the northern transplants who now live there.
And why does the state of Florida have TWO clubs?!?
They never 'came from there' to begin with
Wings bump the B's from the Northeast and joins Leafs, Habs, Sens and Sabres. B's goes to the Atlantic with Flyers, Devils and the NY teams. Butt-hurt Pens joins Caps, 'Canes, and 2 FL teams in the Southeast.
Detroit is the best drawing road team in the league. It's truly Red Wing nation which is of course why the Bettman will probably never let Hockeytown return to its roots in the East, they gotta help support the Count's nice salary.

...and your HF spring organEYEzation winner is.......
1. Los Angeles Kings
Strengths: The Kings' boast an impressive blue line group featuring Derek Forbort, Slava Voynov, and Nic Deslauriers. Equally impressive is the team's group of centers, headlined by offensive talents Brayden Schenn and Andrei Loktionov. In net, Jonathan Bernier possesses top starter potential while Martin Jones and Jeff Zatkoff pushed each other with solid AHL seasons. Tyler Toffoli had a strong OHL campaign, giving the Kings the top talent on the wing that they have been sorely lacking. Weaknesses: There are a handful of potential top-six forwards in the system, but none with sure top-line upside. The Kings have worked to fill out the wings in recent years, but they are still a point of concern; the right side is particularly lacking in depth. Top 5 Prospects: 1. Brayden Schenn, C, 2. Jonathan Bernier, G, 3. Andrei Loktionov, C, 4. Tyler Toffoli, RW, 5. Derek Forbort, D. Lost to graduation: Kyle Clifford, Trevor Lewis, Davis Drewiske. Lost to trade: Colten Teubert.

^ Great. Nice list of prospects...now, how about turning some of that into getting some help for your team so that they can get past the 1st round...?
<---- Thinks Lombardi is going to waste LA's chances because he's too much in love with his own picks.

Detroit is going back East. apparently Ilach was promised some time ago that if a change was ever needed his team gets first dibs. Can't wait for the Wings - Leafs rivalry to heat up again.

^^ No way Detroit is moving east.
Senior Moderator
Why not?
Who do you think has more clout with Bettman? Ilach or whoever it is that owns the Jackets?
According to Toronto media (so it must be BS) Detroit moving East for the 12/13 season is a done deal.

The point is that it's not the "players", "prospects"...etc that is the issue...Deano is doing perfectly.....the big issue is the coach.
Put it down in writing.....so long as Terry Murray is coaching the Kings, they will never win a Cup....let alone make it to the Conference Finals.
