Unfortunately, such a great talent has gone to a team that does not deserve him (Oilers) but, that's the reality. And I suppose, having a team lead by committee would work...BUT, everyone including their grandmas know that this Oilers team is McDavid's. It was pretty much 10000% confirmed when the Oilers sent Hall to the Devils. There is no ifs, ands, or buts.

I guess you do have a point why you think it's too early because McDavid only completed a partial season. But, in THIS case, I think it's a non-issue because well, it's McDavid. He's on another tier that only a few players are on. And as much as I worship Toews, McDavid on a talent-level is heads-over-heels better. That doesn't mean I don't think Captain Serious will show the kid a thing or two if he's assigned to check him and shut him down though.

 

I acknowledge he is good, I acknowledge he is on a team that leaves quite a bit to be desired. I think it is a disservice to him to put him at this point in his career in a position where his teammates are going to be upset having him as their leader. An example would be WWII, they were losing officers at an alarming rate and turning them out of officer candidate school to lead men that had been in combat for some time. They were referred to as 90 day wonders and both unable to lead well and not treated with the respect leaders need.

Add to that TB's attitude and I'm ok messing with him.
