I was surprised they didn't put up more of a fight the way they played prior to these games.
Thanks for Pirri (so far) he has 3 goals and 5 (I think) assists in the first two pre season games.

Scoring goals was never his issue...his problem was his defense and that got him in the doghouse often in Chicago. Hence why he was traded to the Miami Cats...and well, now on the Rangers.
I'm so happy NHL is back on again. This is the best time of the year!
Oilers already lost to a depleted Vancouver team 5-3.
I know preseason doesn't mean much, but still... You want to win anyway.
C'mon 24th place overall this season!!!

Yup, Unlike most sports, even though they suck balls, people don't jump off the bandwagon and hop onto whatever team that just so happens to be winning that year.
This city won't give up on the team. It's partially due to the fact that what else do people watch here over the winter? CFL is a joke and ends in about 4 weeks. Besides that, we have no basketball, no baseball, no (good) football, etc. It's the only form of entertainment during the winter, regardless of how bad the oilers suck.

The thing is, people pay. No one forces them. Prices are so high because people fight tooth and nail for them. Supply and demand!!
There's enough wealthy people around here. This city quite literally breathes, drinks, eats and shits hockey.

lol
Except that's not even possible. Sure, prices will come down. But once they do, everyone will jump on them again because "look! Low ticket prices!!" And the following day they'd be right where they left off. You need to realize there is fuck all to do here for 4-5 months of the year. It's balls cold, people don't want to be outside and there's only so many times you can do the same attractions in a city of about a million people.
So an arena that holds 18,400 people, in a city of a million, with nothing to do in the winter... Yeah... There's a reason people pay. But shit, if I had a business and was pulling in a cool million every year, you'd bet I'd have season tickets. I can sell half and make my money back on the seats and enjoy the other 20 odd games. It's one thing to go to a game every now and then. It's another to have season tickets.
Plus, $1200 for you in the US, is much different than $1200 for me, in Canada. Everything costs more here. But wages are also pretty high here, in comparison.

Soooo... I ended up going to a game tonight
And I'm going to another game this thursday
Free tickets ftw!
Oilers were missing there entire top line. No loocheech. No mcjesus. No eberle. Still won an out shot the ducks 37-26.
And because we canadians stick together... celebrate the Jays making it to the playoffs. Woot!

Largest in the NHL. It's nothing short of ridiculous. 46 feet x 46 feet, with high definition display on all sides. And it moves up and down, to get out of the way for concerts, etc.
My friend was the project manager for all the concession areas in the arena, as well as the score board. He said it was nothing short of an electrical nightmare and expensive AF.
