Ok, what the fuck is going on with the Oilers?

Taylor Hall has 9 points in four games?

A defensemen scored?

A hatrick tonight?

5 straight wins?

I blame home ice advantage

Someone should really teach Stamkos how to use Twitter.

Or does he already know how?

The upcoming road trip will have them visit the Rangers, Bruins, Hawks, and Avs...if they can make it a .500 trip at least, they have hope!

Injured Rangers Derek Stepan, Kevin Klein skating again

Injured Rangers Derek Stepan, Kevin Klein skating again | Newsday

CALGARY — Injured Rangers Derek Stepan and Kevin Klein, whose absence has been evident in the recent slide, have started skating in New York, coach Alain Vigneault said Saturday.

Klein, who strained an oblique muscle on Nov. 30 in the 4-3 win over Carolina, missed his sixth game Saturday, and was expected to be out two-to-three weeks. The two-week mark is Monday. Klein, a valuable right-handed defenseman, was 3-3-6 in 25 games and led the team with a plus-11.

Stepan, who suffered broken ribs on a hit by Matt Beleskey in the 4-3 loss to Boston on Nov. 27, missed his eighth game. The team’s top center, who plays in all situations, was expected to miss four-to-six weeks. Stepan has six goals and six assists.

“What I’ve heard from back home is that both are skating, I want to say yesterday or the day before,” Vigneault said Saturday. “What that means for a timeframe, I don’t know, but they’re skating on their own. No setbacks, everything’s moving forward, and we’ll know [more] when we get back.”

Kane steak is obviously impressive but to think the record is 56 straight game proves how bonkers Gretzky was

Indeed. Although, hockey during Gretzky's years was alot more wide-open...A player like Ovechkin/Crosby/Stamkos et al would probably put up some insane numbers during the 80s.

I agree with your logic but I don't like comparing generations. It's like saying Jordan would average 70 points if he played in the early 60s NBA

Imagine Jordan going against the guy who does accounting by day and plays ball for the Wisconsin Beavers by night

Who knows how Gretzky would've done in today's game...the competition is definitely bigger, faster, and generally more skilled from top to bottom. Goalies are also way more athletic.

It's tough to draw that comparison.

It's interesting to speculate...the ones that are eye-rolling are like when people get so caught up in the hype and make ridiculous comparisons. The most WTF one right now probably is comparing Steph Curry to MJ. I completely agree the former is amazingly good but, he's no MJ. Even if they are playing in different eras.

Same goes for Gretzky and other hockey "stars of the moment"...there is only one #99.

So Edmonton plays in Boston tonight.

The last time Edmonton won in Boston was in November of 1996.

That's right. I said it. 1996.

I don't foresee tonight going very well

Pens fired Johnston as I predicted weeks ago, it was time for a change. Hoping Sullivan can add some more speed and offense to a team that desperately needs both. Heading to the game tonight to welcome him to the burgh :gheywave:

1. Ok, I've been wrong 6 times in a row with the Oilers now.

Bruins lose to Oilers...again?

Yow.

Then again, confidence can be a contagious thing. The Oil suddenly believe in themselves...but, is it sustainable? I still think their D has a gaping hole bigger than Kim K's badonkadonk...but, hey...it's working for now?

The shouldn't have won. I only watched the third period, but I think they were outshot like 47-25 and totally outplayed. Cam Talbot did an amazing job in net, only letting two goals in.

This has been a crazy run, but you're right, it's not sustainable. There's no way the Rangers will lose to them again. Oilers are playing back to back games and if tonight was any indication, they look tired and worn out.

Yeah, apparently Talbot played the game of his life tonight. Oilers will roll into MSG against a Rangers team probably still wondering how they let Edmonton score a TD and PAT on them a few days ago.

Maybe lightning will strike twice...Rangers are struggling after all.

If oilers win tomorrow, they'll move to 8th or even 7th place in the west

It was a gift. Both 1st period goals came off defensive disasters like Chara just falling over uncontested and practically pushing the puck to Ted nugent Hopkins all alone.

Talbot was partially insane in net combined with the Bruins typically lose when greatly outshooting opponents.

Well, Daley is a better fit for the Pens as you guys badly need a puck-mover (HELLO!??!? Get the puck to your crazy-talented forwards)...Scuderi is NOT that. Daley was also not a great fit for Chicago as a 3rd-pairing and so, in Pittsburgh, at least he'll get a shot to be higher up the depth chart and used more to his skillsets...

I think for Chicago, more than anything, it gives some cap relief...the true evaluation of this trade for the Hawks will be to see what they can do with a bit of extra $$ to spend.

Scuderi should be serviceable as a #6 or #7 with Chicago. Doesn't make too many mistakes.
