This evening I was banned for 1 month with a message of "You have been banned for a month for not following the 3G rules for posting"

In this thread I insulted no one, and I confronted no one(A rule of the 3g Forum). All that was done in that forum was me responding to the OP's request to let him know what I think about his car. Apparently when the OP doesn't get praise for his car, a mod (ggesq) stepped in and issued a warning that read, "I'm going to say it one time; knock it off. If you don't see this post it's on you." At this point I've been on Azine long enough to know that when he posts that he just goes nuts with banning anyone who keeps on. So my final response to that thread was, "So people stop being mad about opinions, ill let the OP hear what he wants. Awesome car. Cool mods. Keep it up." Was this post sarcastic? Yes. Did I break any of the rules listed on the 3rd gen Rules. No.

Even though I broke no rules I received a ban of 2weeks, at least so I thought. Upon logging back in to try and find contact info for a Mod of the 3G section (which none have anything listed) I was shocked to see that my ban had been doubled to a full month. Now according to the 3rd Gen Rules, one must be first Warned of a infraction, which I can see a blanket post from ggesq being a very mis directed warning. Secondly the rules state that if one is warned and continues he then receives a 3 day Ban, then going to 2 weeks, and finally ending with a month long ban/perma-ban.

So I'm trying to figure out how I got skipped in the Personal Warning (which is to be sent via PM according to the rules, not a post in a thread.), 3day, 2week, and sent right to a Month long ban.

From what I've seen in the forums as of late, some Mods are over looking the Rules they say to be enforcing and just flat out banning anyone who questions them.

If you could please clarify the rules and why they seem to have been bent in this situation I would appreciate it.

I have taken the time to review the thread in question. What a disaster. I am afraid that I disagree with your interpretation of how things went down however. In fact, I am going to instruct our moderator team to automatically ban anyone who enters a thread with a post that's clearly meant to antagonize. Much like this:

As someone who's been a member here since 2007, and if you say ggesq likes to get ban happy, you should be well aware that you were riding a fine line from the outset. In fact. without your post, the thread likely would have gone in a much different direction. It's attitudes like yours that we don't need on our site. You may think that you're being cute, 'acting within the rules of the forum' etc, but in the end, it's all subjective. If the mods, or admins feel that a member is being disruptive with their postings, and generally dragging down the discussions they participate in, we have the ability to, and will take action against them.

Had I seen the thread after your first post, you'd have been banned on the spot and your post removed.

Ok, I understand that you may not like what I have to say to people,
but when someone asks for a opinion about their car I'm going to give
it to them, if they don't want it, they shouldn't start a thread
asking for it. Case in point with this thread. Yes I made a smartass
comment, but then I did give my opinion on the OP's car. Everything
after that was response to other people wanting to chime in.

Based on your email though this is a un winable battle with the AZine
staff. So now I just want to know what the point of the rules are, if
even you yourself said that they don't have to be followed by Mods.

Where was my 3day ban, 2week ban, or even a personal message
containing a warning. All of which are rules of the forum. When the
ban went into affect, it was 2 weeks, then magically jumped to a month
later on in the night.

Also, if you have the time you should go back and read what others
have said about the OP's history of doing this exact same thing to
other members, members that have been around for years and actually
contribute something.

The ban jumped from 2 weeks to a month because of related comments you made in a different forum. They were felt to be further evidence of an extremely poor attitude, and as such your ban was extended. The original call was for 2months, but we decided a month was fair for a first offense.

Again, my question wasn't answered.

Where was the PM, or 3 day ban. We are told to follow the rules as
posters to the forum, why are these same rules not followed when
"punishment" is dealt out?

I refrain from posting rules in my forums for these exact reasons. Forums are fluid, rules are constantly changing, and evolving. the only fair way is to evaluate each situation on it's own to come up with the proper decision.

as we've done in this case.

If that is the case, you should really re-think the way your mods run
your forum when they tell people to follow the rules.
From the way you put it, there should be no rules posted, yet there
are. Reason being because the Mods only enforce what they feel needed
to be dealt with. Not something that actually breaks a rule, and upon
enforcing said "rules" they do not follow their own guidelines for
punishment.

Just my two cents on how I feel a failed system is being run. If you
want your Mods banning those that (correct me if im wrong) bring
revenue to the owner, by all means let them continue to do so.
