There's a shop in Hillsboro - "Orenco Station Auto Repair" that only works on Hondas and Acuras. It's a one-man operation (Paul), but he replaced my timing belt, water pump, seals, and bled my brakes for $600. You can reach him at (503) 533-5966.

What about deals on the used cars? Like this stock number: T01821A2 which of course they wont list the price!

they do that so you'd call sorry, preowned is whatever you can negotiate, unfornately i have no control over that, in other words we have to negotiate on preowned vehicles ourselves. now if you DO pick it up, i'll give you good deals on parts which is where i specify in.

I think I'd get a leveling kit then a taller tire like some BFGs and the FJC wheels. That'd look tough.

Yeah I hate when dealers are shady online about the price!

Leveling kits are a must. Are you looking to get a Mud Terrain or a All Terrain?

Hmm i guess it is the "Ranger" of the toyota line so it makes sense.

I was afraid of that. The BFG's are a awesome A/T...untill you hit mud. Ive also read that they wear quickly when street driven all the time due to a soft compound.

Is that a good way to save money, buy the parts yourself and have a shop hook it all up? I've heard some people get it all done for about $600-650 parts and labor. However I'm worried if the shop I'm considering even carries Honda OEM parts...

It would actually save a couple hundred. I just dont have the weekends anymore or more then a couple hours to work on my car so I dont see anytime soon I can do it. If I could find a shop to do it for 600-650 I would be all over it but Ive called around and they are a lot more then that.

in a month or so i heard a container from japan is coming over with loads of used jdm parts. if the container has a silvia front-end, than i'll might be able to get a full sr20 swap with manual tranny.

is that 240 a coupe or hatch? if the guy is selling it for around $500~700, i can use it as a manual swap donor

so is it going to turn into your weekend warrior soon?

i think the lip looks good regardless if its painted or not.. gives it a better look. if you save a few bucks for the E-DM lip i say go for it.. its not like youre running a show car.. that lip will probably see more curps and rocks in its lifetime then a showroom floor.

I would do it myself but I don't really have the tools or experience to do it. (Do have a service manual, though ) I'm nervous as hell about this since I know a few people who got some bad work done, timing belt snapped, car was never the same after the valves had to be readjusted and everything. A guy in the CL forum had a mechanic do his timing belt service, and they over-torqued the tensioner, I believe. Ever since I read about that, I've been real nervous about having it done I'm sure it's not a common thing, having the timing belt snap, but you never know...

^Odds that it will happen to you are prob as good as winning the lottery..LOL
Seriously, I wouldn't worry too much about the belt as I would about making sure all the gaskets/seals fit like a glove so you don't get any leaks which would be a pain to have to fix. If you can go to a small shop where you can watch the tech do the work I'd go there. bonknhead's recommended shop sounds like a great place..small..only honda/acura..and 600 for t-belt job and brake flush..shit..why even think twice.

thinking about it as a daily warrior

issue with this xenon lip is finding one at reasonable price. they are made out of polyurethane and brand new ones cost at least $300+ shipped while other fiberglass body kits (full kit) only cost $600.

yeah over torqueing from a shop would be just stupid, should be common practice for them. yeah I dont have much time on my hands to work on my car really and plus, on engine work if a shop messes up, you can point fingers. If I mess up, I have a large bill. But if the guy can do a t belt job for 600 plus all the parts then thats cheap. If not, then we have a vendor on here that sells the whole kit for under 300, all acura parts.
