I don't have the receipt anymore to show date of purchase. I'm pretty sure it's been over 3 years anyway

Thanks anyway for the advice tho

You don't need the receipt. I just sent mine in for that same error. The 3 year warranty is based off of your serial number.

https://myservice.xbox.com/en-US/Pages/Welcome.aspx

when you request a repair, they will tell you if you are covered. They send you a label and all you have to do is remove your hd and box it up.

much better value just buying the xbox with the larger HD

He won't be pushing with another 700mb (700mb + 700mb = 1.4gb) of map pack add-ons, but I see your point about the flash drive.

That's not a bad turn around if you bought it 3 years ago.

I got my elite as a gift, but I know it cost $400. That's a lot of money.

you use the RCA cables from tv to receiver or from ps3 to receiver?

If it's the first, then you can do the same with the 360. Don't think you can use hdmi and RCA from the back of the 360 though. It can only be one or the other.

Anyone else here sign up for the Fall 2010 Dashboard Update Beta? I did! I just got notication to install it, I'm gonna do it now and report back! I'm most excited about the Zune music capability and netflix search.

I almost did but something last minute deterred me. I can't remember exactly what it was though. Is it that you loose the ability to have party chat during the beta? I vaguely recall something similar to that.

this.

not sure how it is now, but on my elite, it came with an adapter that had connections for RCA audio and optical audio and let me plug in the included HDMI cable as well.

It comes with that now. In fact, it doesn't even ship with an HDMI...just the RCA. Didn't know you could use both.

its a separate adapter, it doesnt have the composite/component video connections on it.

that connector to the xbox360 is flatter so you could plug in the HDMI cable at the same time.

well looks like Ill need to go to the store and buy one of these adapters. we are doing a gaming night Friday and I need it by then. I don't really mind, and I would rather not hack into the cable or whatever.

Ya, you can plug both in. I didn't realize both slots would broadcast a signal.

Once you get your 360, just run the hdmi to the tv, also run only hdmi from ps3 to tv. All your audio is going to the tv at this point. Then just run the audio out rca on the tv to the receiver. Problem solved. No extra cables needed.

I mentioned running the rca audio from tv to receiver. That was only because you presently have the cable. If you would like better quality audio, I suggest checking to see if your tv has an optical audio out (most tv's should) and using that connection to connect to the receiver. Obviously you'll need an optical audio cable for this.

You have the new one. No need to run a cable from the Tv

Just connect the xbox to the receiver via optical audio cable, directly.
