Microsoft: Xbox 360 news
You don't need the receipt. I just sent mine in for that same error. The 3 year warranty is based off of your serial number.

when you request a repair, they will tell you if you are covered. They send you a label and all you have to do is remove your hd and box it up.

he mentioned getting the new CoD which will also include updates such as map pack and add-ons.. he'd be pushing it.
and what i said earlier about turning in his xbox to get the new one for only $250.... 4GB+8GBflash = $230
much better value just buying the xbox with the larger HD

He won't be pushing with another 700mb (700mb + 700mb = 1.4gb) of map pack add-ons, but I see your point about the flash drive.
yea, and i had to buy one of those suckers tonight.. the 8GB Flash drive is actually $40..
the 16 is $70...
giving my CoD xbox away tomorrow and needed to store my important game saves for when i go pick up the halo console...

on PS3 I run HDMI out to the tv and multi-out RCA audio to the receiver since it doesnt have hdmi. Im assuming I can also do this w the 360. do I need to buy any accessories to make it so? how is it done? thx
you use the RCA cables from tv to receiver or from ps3 to receiver?
If it's the first, then you can do the same with the 360. Don't think you can use hdmi and RCA from the back of the 360 though. It can only be one or the other.

not sure how it is now, but on my elite, it came with an adapter that had connections for RCA audio and optical audio and let me plug in the included HDMI cable as well.

But Zune Music on the 360 = teh shit!!!
I love the Zune service and devices, so cool looking! When the update comes out make sure you guys check it out, much cooler looking than itunes.
It comes with that now. In fact, it doesn't even ship with an HDMI...just the RCA. Didn't know you could use both.
its a separate adapter, it doesnt have the composite/component video connections on it.
that connector to the xbox360 is flatter so you could plug in the HDMI cable at the same time.

well looks like Ill need to go to the store and buy one of these adapters. we are doing a gaming night Friday and I need it by then. I don't really mind, and I would rather not hack into the cable or whatever.
Once you get your 360, just run the hdmi to the tv, also run only hdmi from ps3 to tv. All your audio is going to the tv at this point. Then just run the audio out rca on the tv to the receiver. Problem solved. No extra cables needed.
new 250
this. i'm actually kind of excited to get it!

will try that! thanks all.
I mentioned running the rca audio from tv to receiver. That was only because you presently have the cable. If you would like better quality audio, I suggest checking to see if your tv has an optical audio out (most tv's should) and using that connection to connect to the receiver. Obviously you'll need an optical audio cable for this.

That's not a bad turn around if you bought it 3 years ago.
when it was still around
