Microsoft: Xbox 360 news
In a move reminiscent of what happened on April 1 (twice in one month MS, for shame!), Microsoft has announced that Xbox Live will be down for maintenance. Only this time instead of going down for only three hours, the service is scheduled to be going down for eight hours. According to Major Nelson, everything will be down from 2am to 10am Pacific Time on April 21. That is a Monday, so traffic would likely have been a bit light, but this does mean that those with downloaded content from a previous console will not be able to access their games. Just so long as it's maintenance of the type that prevents any kind of the hitches the service has seen in its recent history, then it should be worth it. Well, at least we're forewarned.
Soooooooooo..... My xBox went RROD on me today. I havent played it in a while, and when I tried yesterday it said something about maintenance so I figured I'd wait till today. Well, I tried loading it up and it freezes. Then It loads and asks me to update for xbox live which I do, then when I boot up cod4 it says there is an update for that game too. Well I figure ok why not but it froze again! I turn it off, turn it on, blank screen. Turn it off turn it on blank screen. turn it off turn it on, RROD! DAMN IT! I hope it will work after it cools down. I dunno though. This sucks balls.

Supposedly it was to add more hardware to get ready for GTA4.

"As we have stated, we have no plans to introduce a Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360," said a Microsoft official in an email to GamePro on Monday. "Games are what drive consumers to purchase game consoles, and we remain focused on providing the largest library of blockbuster games available."
The statement comes amid persistent reports that Microsoft will release a Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360 given the discontinuation of the console's now defunct HD DVD drive.

ps3's blu ray drive is actualy one of the quicker responsive players out there. and one other reason for ms to not offer blu ray is the price. if they add blu ray, its going to cost more than the ps3 and w/ subscription internet play? they're afraid to lose gamers

i still think having the idea of using your ps3 to watch movies is kinda lame. i mean who actually watched movies on their xbox or ps2 instead of getting another dvd player.
