well, I figure one HDMI for cable box, if and when I get a PS3... I'll need another one, then... one for the 360 Elite

 

Arrrgh, damn Elite... I've seriously started considering getting an 1080p TV just so I could enjoy HD. Plus I have to constantly delete crap that I don't use on my hard drive, I mean even though I don't download much, it would be nice to have more room to play with.
Too bad I don't have a HDMI output on my laptop, cause I've got plenty of "movies" that I could move to the 360

I have a decent Onkyo... I think it's 2nd or 3rd from top of the line... I guess I don't know how to use it

 

You're not routing the video and audio through it? Less Cables to TV> Wire clutter to TV

I really don't understand why everyone is so nuts over HDMI. Its definitely better, but its advantages don't really seem worthy of all the attention it gets. Everything I've read says you need to be a very experienced videophile to be able to tell any difference in picture quality. I don't know of anything that uses the two way functionality either. I guess its nice to run one cable instead of 4, but is that it?

Can any of you guys honestly say you have noticed a difference in quality going from component + optical to HDMI? Looks exactly the same to me.

All the new LCD and plasma tv's make HDMI connections a big selling point... anyone running their audio through those 2 watt speakers is a fool...


edit: what would be nice, is if I could plug my dvd/xbox/etc into my receiver via HDMI and the receiver could figure out exactly what is on the other end, and what it can do.

Ok, well you should have component VIDEO go to your TV, all Video and audio should come to your receiver, if this is not how it is setup, you gotta rewire.

Yeah I was just thinking that.. The TV I have doesn't have HDMI.. the Receiver I have doesn't have HDMI.. Although the bigger HD and I do like it in black makes it seem a lot better I just don't know.

I've decided to just try to get it when it comes out. I'll save $50 (no costco tax or shipping charges). Then I can use that $50 to buy a game or 2 used games
