No such thing. Either the cable is HDMI or component... can't be both. And the 360 does not have an HDMI port.

^ Well they could have incorporated HDMI into the HD-DVD add-on, but for some reason they didn't. I still may scoop it up and hook up the 360 with the HD-DVD to the 720p set using components (which is how it's hooked up now). We'll see.

There are wild rumors, and there are interesting rumors, but here's a doozy for ya: Xbox Live could soon start vending HD movie content, according to one freshly minted Wordpress blog (take that for what it's worth). According to Shsibae (huh?), over 1000+ hours of video will make its way onto Live for rental at about $4 a go, or for purchase (at an unstated price). Hard to imagine Xbox 360 doing for PC-free online movie downloads what all the other companies couldn't or haven't (we're looking at you TiVo, Netflix, iTV, etc.), but then again Microsoft did start up with that Xbox Live music video download thing last year. Seriously though, what a coup would that be if Microsoft swooped in to make the Xbox 360 the premier digital content hub -- with or without HD DVD -- right underneath Sony's nose at the eve of their PlayStation 3 launch? We just hope Microsoft would have a larger drive waiting in the wings if this one turns up roses though, our 20GB is already packed to the gills with game demos.

i would fall for the 4 dollar thing,
it is a 24 hour rental though, still I haven't been to blockbuster in years, as I've never encountered somebody who wasn't a jackass at the counter. I also would probably loose every netflix disk sent to me, and on top of that I hate installing propietary software on my computer for things such as cinema now.
So right, I guess i'm the .003 percent of the market they are looking for.

right, actually buying the movie would be ridiculous with 20gb, unless they let you back it up to a computer (without some 3rd party usb cord thingy)
I thought that the real issue with hdmi and DVI was that the xbox doesn't have the proper chip for hdcp anyway. The majority of the speculation I have seen about it regards a un marked chip near the gpu. I think it's just pipe dreams.

apparently the HD-DVD player software pushes the 360 harder than any game on the system, and all six "hardware threads" of the triple core CPU.. you thought your 360 was loud now? wait til you hear the fans come on when you are playing a HD-DVD...
Microsoft has announced agreements with CBS, MTV Networks, Paramount Pictures, Turner, and Warner Bros to bring over 1,000 hours of downloadable TV shows and movies to Xbox 360 gamers in the U.S. by the end of the year.
Beginning Nov. 22nd, on its first anniversary, Xbox 360 will be "the first gaming console in history to provide high-definition TV shows and movies directly to gamers in their living rooms", according to the company.
The initial lineup of TV shows will be available for 'download to own' (and are attached to your Xbox 360 profile), and feature films will be available for 'download to rent' (after you download it, you have 14 days to watch it and 24 hours after starting it to complete it.) Pricing is currently unconfirmed.

"# Your "purchased" TV programs can be downloaded an infinite amount of times to an infinite amount of consoles; you may also play them back on friends' 360s with your removable drive.
# Deleted TV shows can be re-downloaded later; HDTV shows can be re-downloaded in either HDTV or SD."
Thats a interesting um ... solution? To the 20 gb problem. For me it would still be quite a pain though. 5 gb on my 200kb a second connection takes a bit of time. Now if I had fiber, damn you Verison.
I also wonder if the sdtv stuff will be atleast in a 16:9 format. I could do that all day long, as when I'm 10 or so feet back from my small 27 inch tv 720 p's don't make a big difference to me.

It would seem to me that it'd be possible have the proprietary 360 connector on one and an HDMI connector on the other, just like they do with other connectors.
Although, if it were possible, I imagine they would have done it by now.

If you can do 1080p over the component then why even botehr with HDMI?
You can't do 1080p over component because almost no TV's accept 1080p over component.
Luckily, it has a VGA cable and supports 1080p output over VGA. Likewise, most newer TV's have VGA inputs and will accept 1080p.

PLAYSTATION 3's content is designed for everyone to enjoy right out of the box, no matter which configuration you purchase. We would never segregate or shut out any of our consumers from our entertainment experience because they didn't buy the top of the line system. Both PLAYSTATION 3 versions available on November 17 include hard drives for downloading content.

Sony is one bitter goliath.

MS will probably sell a larger HDD as a peripheral.

picked it up this morning but had to go to a store in Montebello, Orange was out when I checked w/C.C.'s site... Montebello is actually closer to my parents' house...
BUT just so you guys know... the coupon didn't work-wouldn't scan... and the manager wouldn't let me use it
I'll let you guys know how it is when I get home and hook it up... but just to warn you guys ahead of time... I suck at writing reviews...

picture's awesome... (like I said... I'm NOT good with writing reviews), IMHO the picture's as sharp as the HD channels (cable)... I think someone mentioned before about the fan being loud or something?... NOT loud at all... but then again... I was playing the movie kinda loud... I know for sure the fan in the 360 wasn't even spinning
The picture's a lot better than my Samsung upconverting DVD player... A LOT BETTER
The player comes with King Kong... I'm going to rent the regular version and compare it (maybe tomorrow?). I'll pause the movie on the exact spot on both players and maybe take pictures (?). If I can tell noticeably differences on the pictures, I'll post.
the setup was really easy... it took maybe 5 minutes...
just in case any of you DO get this... and NOT read the instructions first... it clearly tells you NEVER to move the HD DVD player when it's got a DVD in it... does NOT matter if it's on or off...
I hope that helps...
