and VGA.. i'd use a VGA to HDMI cable? or...

thanks guys!
The onlly reason why I ask is because there are rumors that a new 100GB drive may be coming out the first half of next year. Many people are filling up the 20GB fast with movies, demos and stuff. If you don't think you'll fill it up no worries. If you think it will, and the 100GB drive sounds appealing, wait till that comes out so you dont' waste your money on the premium kit to get a drive you'd probably replace anyways. Just a suggesstion if you aren't in a hurry.

I don't see it going that long without an application NOT being developed either. The fact that the drive is recognized on the machine solves the biggest hurdle thank god.

I'm most likely purchasing a 360 this weekend. Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a bundle?

I just got a 320gb My Book drive pretty cheap from Buy.com. After our warranty work is done in the house I'm going to hook that up to the HTPC and stream through the X360. Of course my first mission once it's all hooked up is to figure out how to rip my DVDs to the hard drive

That's an alternative too, but don't you need a windows media center PC to stream to the xbox? EDIT NEVERMIND HAD A BLOND MOMENT. usb port.

As for ripping DVD's I have no idea what people use on Windows. But if you are a linux guy, check out MythTV. Free open source program that can record television, stream pictures, music and video, you can use it to rip your dvd's as well.

http://www.mythtv.org/

I don't have my own house at the moment but if I did and had a decent TV to stream to that is what I would do.

Not a great deal (you save $20) but you also get the best return policy in the business.

I can either use the USB port on the X360, or my HTPC, which is running Windows Media Center and is in the same entertainment center. The drive can then be connected to the HTPC via Firewire, then to the X360 via Ethernet. So, since the drive supports both connections (USB and Firewire), I have options...

No linux here.. only Windows XP and Media... so need to find out how to do it through that...

I just saw that Best Buy had a bundle with the table tennis game.

On another note, can anybody else not wait for Forza Motorsport 2...when is it supposed to come out??

I was thinking about looking at Costco... although I'm not a member so I'd need to spend $50 for a membership.

No friends with a membership?

I've got one, need help? Although that would be a problem because you wouldn't be able to enter the buidling if you ever wanted to return it.

Silver the link you posted is for Seafood and Meat.

Does Costco sell JUST the system w/o a bundle? I would hate to need to return EVERYTHING (game, accessories, etc) because something on the system crapped out.

Ahhh, thanks for the heads up! Any word on how much this new x-box will cost us?

and my tv does, indeed, have a vga slot/port/whatever.. I just forgot about it. so I can get 1080p through this? I was under the impression that only hdmi = 1080p, and other things like component = 1080i.

No clue, all rumor right now, but it's something to consider. Worst case you wait and if they dont' release it, you still end up with the same console that you would have bought now. But having the 100GB drive may help if you foresee downloading a lot of stuff like the demos which can only run off the primary drive and not an external drive.

Most newer 1080p sets support 1080p via HDMI and VGA. In fact, some of the older ones that were first released ONLY supported 1080p via VGA. Double check the specs on your system, but you should be OK.

As for the new XBOX, as Sly said, it's all rumors and speculation right now. For all we know the thing may only exist on paper. We just don't know yet. So the odds are you won't hear anything for 1-2 years at the earliest on that...

he was asking about the possibility of the 100GB hard drive option that is in speculation right now for the 360.

NOT the next gen console.

Doing some other Christmas shopping when I read your post. Looks yummy though

Anyways, I wouldn't think you would have to return the whole bundle, just the part that isn't working. is300eater I think has returned his a couple times already if I remember correctly.

And you should have someone (friend/family) that has a membership. If not it is well worth it

Too many convos going on here for me to keep up. Plus, Silver threw me off with the Seafood and Meat link. I wasn't in the right mindset when I replied

Overstock.com has it for $324 with a 20% off coupon. You need to also purchase a non-media item as well. They have a few things for <$5.

Yeah, every TV with a VGA input supports the TV's native resolution over VGA.

I don't have that many, I was referring (more or less) to the recent releases... but to answer your question...

PGR3
Call of Duty 2
Quake 4
Need For Speed:Most Wanted
X-Men (a gift, still unopen... and ain't worth shit to trade in)
Battlefield 2
F.E.A.R.
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Call of Duty 3
Gears Of War
Ghost Recon Advanced Fighter
Rainbow Six: Vegas

there were a couple that I bought and just hated them, and traded them in within a couple days of purchase back when EB Games/Game Stop use to have the special where you trade 2 games in for a new one... too bad they don't do that anymore...

(and Halo 2)
