However, I only see the big budget movies doing this since they have the biggest backing from the studio.
I don't think Universal will ever support Blu-ray.......unless HD DVD dies completely...Universal is heavily in Toshiba's corner.

It allows you to interface with your PC's harddrive, i.e. save stuff there. Pretty cool device, would have made more sense for it to light up green instead of blue.

I did mention it and it is awesome. Takes some getting used to since you use the right analog as your stick... but after a game or so you get the hang of it, and it is sweet. Probably the most realistic hockey I've played on a console...

I actually don't know if its such a good thing...since everything is wireless there is no place that I can connect an Ethernet cord to from the 360. Is my only option the wireless adapter from microsoft that costs 99 dollars, or is there some other way I could do this. Im guessing that it doesnt work with a USB Wireless Internet Adapter that I got for my desktop.

Ease of setup. The XBOX one plugs into the XBOX, and you can configure it from the dashboard. Others require you to connect it to a PC first, connect to the bridge over Ethernet to configure it for your wireless network.

quick question

before i go pick one of these up for my son for XMAS need to verify somthing.

My tv only has 480I/P and 1080I no 720P. The XBOX 360 will upconvert the signal for all their games to 1080I no down convert them correct? Picture quality will still be awesome?

Yes, it will be at 1080i. My CRT tv is exactly the same.

I do.. I believe Soopa has it as well.

Even though it is a bit ugly sitting on top of my 360, the unit itself is very well made, the movies work flawlessly depending on the movie, the picture quality is far better than a DVD.

Do you guys think its worth it to buy the battery charger kit for the wireless controller? Any of you have it?

On a side note, I called Dell today to tell them that the shiny part on the top of the hd is all scratched up, and that it looks like it was a refurbished product. They are now sending me a new xbox and I have to send mine back when I receive it. Do you guys think I could get away with keeping the wireless controller, so that I'll have two?

I have it, as much as I play I would be dropping some change on the batteries.

I used the regular batteries and got about 5.5 months out of them. Now I use the Energizer Lithium batteries and they seem like they will last much longer... so I've decided to not bother with the rechargable.

You could try it, but the odds are that you will not get away with it. They'll either charge you or ask you to ship the controller back b/c they'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you just simply forgot to pack the controller in... but chances of you getting away with it clean and clear are slim to none...

no, but supposedly it's plug-n-play on the mac (osx being the Xbox's development platform and all).

after reading the info at the link, it says it is recognizable on the mac, but they had no software (or didn't know of any software) on the mac that can play the HD discs?

i'm very tempted to get a 360 soon, but I have a few q's...

i just bought a 1080p hdtv, so i'm curious about the hd capabilities..

does the x-box upconvert dvd's to 1080p or only 1080i? and what cables are optimal.

and the hd-dvd drive plays hd-dvds (duh), but also upconverts regular ones (i'm guessing this does 1080p for sure, even upconverting).

thanks guys, i can't wait to get one of these bad boys!

yes, the xbox will upconvert everything to 1080p (assuming you go through VGA).

So far as I know VGA->HDMI adapters are $150-200. So if you've got extra money to burn, sure.

OR... you could save your dough and just run VGA straight to your TV. Most every TV on the market has a PC/VGA/DVI input these days.

I suppose if you really wanted to use HDMI you could do it on the cheap by getting a VGA to DVI adapter and then a DVI to HDMI adapter. LOL

I figured for sure that iDVD would play HD-DVD. If not, VLC. If not, WMP at the very least.

iMovie supports HD-DVD mastering, so I imagine something can play them.

If not, someone will make an app soon.

The first batch of batteries that lasted about 5 1/2 months saw approximately 4-5 hours per week of gaming on average.

Lately I haven't had much time to play, so the new batch will last even longer since I'm only getting in about 1-2 hours per week...
