I only paid $400 for it... but yeah, $500 was the best I could get after having it on Craigslist for three days. A lot of people are concerned about overheating issues and wouldn't buy it without the receipt.
Also, three of the games were worthless... Kameo, Perfect Dark, something else that sucked.

not that I'm one to talk.

I know when Halo 3 comes out I'll be in trouble. Probably one of the reasons I haven't bought a 360 yet. even still, my xbox and ps2 are sitting in my living room and I haven't touched them in quite a while. probably because I have so much shyt to do.

I was playing battlefield for like 6 hours a day and I still sucked.
Quick question: I just got back from school where I had xbox live set up and everything. Here at home I tried connecting it to the wireless router...just the ethernet cord into one of the ports. We have fios so the entire house is wireless, and every time I try to connect it says DNS failed. You guys have any idea of what I'm doing wrong?

500k? Damn, I thought I was doing well at 118k oh well. I have a few achievements, but I probably won't get some of the higher scoring ones. Last night i got the one for lasting 60 secs without firing a shot, which was harder than I thought

congrats on that 60 sec achievement - i have yet to get that one...there is no way I am quick enough to avoid all of the enemies for that long without firing.
Thanks. Ironically it's the "easy" guys, the spinning pinwheels, that make it so difficult. The ones that chase after you are easy to avoid because you just run away from them. But the pinwheels move somewhat randomly and are scattered all over, so they end up being the enemies to avoid, and you can't predict their movement.....one strategy that I used is not to worry about the guys chasing you...as long as you keep moving, they won't catch you...instead, just focus on the pinwheels and navigating through them.
Another formerly PS3 exclusive game bites the dust:
SEGA ANNOUNCES VIRTUA FIGHTER 5 FOR XBOX 360
Premiere Fighting Game Franchise Makes First Appearance on Microsoft’s Next Generation Videogame Console
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (December 21, 2006) – SEGA of America, Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. today announced that the highly anticipated arcade fighting game, Virtua Fighter™ 5, will make its way onto the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system. Virtua Fighter™ 5 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360™ in North America and in Europe during late summer 2007. The game will also be available for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system on February 20th, 2007 in North America and will be available in Europe simultaneously with the system’s launch in March 2007.
“Those people lucky enough to have already played Virtua Fighter™ 5 will know that it’s laid the foundations to become the clear benchmark for fighting games on all next generation consoles”, said Matt Woodley, Creative Director, SEGA Publishing Europe Ltd. “Bringing Virtua Fighter™ 5 to the Xbox 360™ offers us a platform with power to handle the astonishing visuals, the complex and varied fighting styles of all the customisable characters and will undoubtedly put Virtua Fighter™ 5 into the hands of a gaming audience craving for a highly polished and credible fighting game.”
Virtua Fighter™ 5 features beautifully detailed stages from around the world where players face off in fast-moving martial arts battles against one of 17 characters. Two lively new characters join the elite group of fighters, adding two new unique fighting styles for players to try and master. With more skill and strategy than ever before, players are also given the opportunity to learn and employ the new “Offensive Move” technique to take down their opponents from different angles, adding a new dimension to the game and something for both new and old fans to master. Virtua Fighter™ 5 also includes the ability to customise characters by selecting from four base costumes and a wide range of unlockable accessories and earnable items. As players win more tournaments they will not only earn costumes and accessories, but also prizes and in-game money that will allow them to buy items from the in-game shop.
“The Virtua Fighter™ series from SEGA has one of the most prestigious histories in video games,” said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of global marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “It’s a franchise that has grown an army of loyal fans both in arcades and on consoles worldwide, and is consistently rated extremely high by the media. Fighting game fans have been hungry for Virtua Fighter™ 5 and we can now proudly deliver this game with SEGA to Xbox 360 gamers around the world.”

good call on the help - got the achievement last night! thanks. that was the last achievement i was going for since there's no chance i can score 1 million points or score 500K WITHOUT dying.
not bad at all - unless you have a 20gb hd. which leads me to my 2nd question? I think I've heard of people doing it but is there a limit, how hard is it to do, does doing it limit you from using anything on the 360 (Live, etc)?
It did limit you, like it is on the ps3 now, but they patched it to allow multipul downloads and whatnot (as i imagine the ps3 will get in the future.
The only thing that happens now is if you go and play a xbox live game it will pause your download.
The hd is quite small for 6 gig files though, right now I think most of them are rentals. If they start selling them there best be a way to save stuff to a usb hd or something.

I have been having seirous problems with my xbox live....for example, in gears of war...I'll search for any ranked match. After taking a few minutes to refresh the list, it will display a list of games, but as soon as I click on one, a message box pops up and says "unable to connect to host" or "connection to host lost"....from that point on, when I refresh, it says that it can't find any games, which I know is complete bullshit. The same thing happens for co-op games. Once in awhile gears will work, but it takes about 20 minutes of attempted games to find one that works. The rainbow six multiplayer had such severe multiplayer issues that it was unplayable....it would actually kick me off xbox life once in awhile.
This has become really frustrating....I don't know whether it is xbox live or my connection. I'm guessing it is probably my connection considering no one else seems to be having these issues. My xbox is connected by hardwire to my router (wilress d-link router), which is connected to my cable modem. I have't had any other internet issues. Downloads on the xbox work fine.
Has anyone had any similar experiences? Any ideas on how to potentially fix the issue? Thanks for the help...

Looks like I may pick up a 360 Premium from Toys R Us tomorrow.
They have a deal where you get a $100 GC back when you purchase the system. If BB does not have the PS3 in stock (most likely), then I will get the 360

My local Toys R Us sold out

Oh well, the Xbox will justify my purchase of a 32" Sammy LCD today

okay, i tried that, and it still works pretty crappy. like one out of every 10 or 15 refershes on a game lobby reveals actual games....I spent an hour with xbox customer support and they told me that my cable modem isn't compatible with xbox live....i'm not sure if this is bullshit or not. the girl i was talking to was totally clueless. hence why it took an hour.
looks like ill wait until mid 2007 to get a 360
