I'm gonna try to run an ethernet cable from my 360 to my router just to see if that fixed the problem. If it does, then I know it's my game adapter that is causing the problem.
If not,
on needing to spend more money on fixing the network. The ONLY other thing I can think of that would cause this issue is using the currently installed firmware on my router. Netgear hasn't updated their newer firmware to be xbox live compatible, but they brand the unit as being xbox live compatible. The trick that they DON'T disclose is that you have to downgrade your firmware to an older version to make it compatible.

They hardly release any firmware updates, and their support staff are a bunch of idiots that can barely regurgatate their own vomit, and their home products are getting worse and worse year by year. They used to be good.

Man, today is a bad day. First the 'Canes lose, and then I turn on my 360 and get the three red lights of death. This is the second time it's happened to me. Both 360's had been working fine and their demises were completely unexpected.
The first time (January of this year), they gave me a new 360 (manufactured in December 2006). They should send me an Elite or something to compensate for the repeat inconveniences.
At least I still have the TL running strong. Of course it'll probably break down tomorrow just because I said that.

I can say that it looks fantastic, and the simplicity of the one-cable-does-all HDMI hookup (especially if you have an HDMI switching A/V receiver) is hard to beat.
whats the difference between the arcade version and the regular? im thinking about picking up a 360 later this month, i got a 40; samsung but its 720p i believe, do i need all sorts of fancy cables to make it look decent? has microsoft fixed that damn problem?

whats the difference between the Arcade version and the regular 360 that goes for 349 with marvel alliance and forza
heres the features from best buy. it still has the 20gb right?
Product Features
* Comes with an Xbox 360 console, a wireless controller, a 256MB memory unit, a composite A/V cable and a disc containing five games
* Games include Pac-Man Championship Edition, Boom Boom Rocket, Luxor 2, Feeding Frenzy and UNO
* Powerful hardware features a custom symmetrical triple-core CPU and custom 500MHz ATI graphics processor
* Every Xbox 360 title supports 720p and 1080i high-definition resolution or 480p standard-definition resolution
* Rip music to the Xbox 360 hard drive and share your latest digital pictures with friends; view progressive-scan DVD movies
* Three USB 2.0 ports, two memory unit slots, Ethernet port, HDMI port; support for up to four wireless game controllers
id rather just get the base system because i have no need for forza or marvel, and i dont need the dvd drive because im eventually going to get a ps3. i just need to be able to play COD4.

Arcade is the original core system with a few extras. It doesn't have the 20 gig hard drive, it has no hard drive. Instead they are giving you at 256 mb memory card which can be used for game saves and maybe downloading more games from the marketplace (not sure about this part). Because it doesn't have the hard drive, you won't be able to play any old games from the original xbox.
That's the major (if only) difference for me. $280 vs $350. $70 difference, and i've never seen the hard drive (which you can buy separately) selling for that cheap.
both the arcade and pro/regular one now come with wireless controlers (old core used to be wired).
whats the deal with the harddrive then? is it only used for playing old xbox games, if so, i dont even have an old xbox
is 256mb enough memory to save a couple games.
the only games on my 360 list are
dead rising
COD4
maybe 2 or 3 more, not sure.

go to xbox.com and there is a page explaining the benefits of the hard drive. Sorry I can't give you the actual page because i'm blocked at work.

Autumn Xbox 360 update to enable downloadable Xbox games, including Halo 1
http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/13/a...-games-includ/
It's getting to be about time for an Xbox 360 Dashboard update, and Official Xbox Magazine is reporting that the Fall update, due December 4th, will come packing a huge new feature: downloadable Xbox games. The list includes some biggies: Fable, Burnout 3, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, and, or course, the original Halo. Games are reported to cost 1200 points, (around $15), and the games list is expected to grow over time. Of course, Microsoft hasn't confirmed any of this yet, but December is right around the corner -- looks like we'll find out soon enough.
Xbox 360 backwards compat update brings 84 new titles

Thank god MS extended the warranty for RRoD to 3 years.
ugh! I hope Costco hasn't "flagged" my membership cuz I've returned it like twice already... (maybe 3 times, I can't quite remember) but they were all legit reasons (the 3 rings)

I was reading up on how to extend the life of your 360, besides adding a cooling fan and putting it into an open area, and it says to place the system on it's side (vertical).
Does that actually help? I thought the disc would not sit properly in the drive when vertical.

But, also have to admit, the current unit has lasted me the longest *knock on wood* and I've been playing using it more than ever (especially when I got really hooked on RS-V Live)
