Microsoft: Xbox 360 news
Xbox 360 65nm chips out there, 45nm chips in the future
http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/01/x...in-the-future/
Could the 45nm chips be an inkling of what we expect for a next gen xBox???
with the xbox being in it's 3rd year now come the end of this year, having it's next generation come out about 1 - 2 years from now seems about right.
As for the 65nm chips, how would people know if the box they are buying has that chip or an older version.

According to reports, contract chipmaker Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing has begun work on a 45-nanometer CPU designed specifically for a video game console, and the word on the street is that Microsoft is the company placing the order. The Singapore-based chip company, which produces the current Xbox 360 CPU, is set to begin work on the new design in late 2008 or early 2009. The smaller chip would mean lowered production costs, smaller power requirements, and a cooler operating temperature -- which would address a handful of problems the current Xbox design has. The newer 65nm chip which the company produces for Microsoft went into production over the last two quarters, and Chia Song Hwee, Chartered's president and CEO, said that "you would expect 45nm to come on stream about 18 months from that timeframe." So, expect to pass some time before any major changes beyond the 65nm come... perhaps Halo 3 will make the wait more bearable?

I just got an e-mail from MSFT about the movie 300 being available on HD. Since I don't have a HD-DVD player, I may download the movie in HD if the price is right! Anyone know how many points it usually costs for movies like this? And how much would it cost to purchase those points?
soo.... my 360 got the 3 red lights of doom a couple days ago, and I just had it repaired in late february too. Apparently it also had to be repaired for this problem back in january 2006 when my friends brother owned it.
3 times? shit son that's fucked up.
especially because I hadn't even used it for a few days, and when I came bck to it and turned it on it was fucked.

My upstairs 360 just got them so this will be the first time I send it in. How long did it take you to get it back. Thank god I can still play the elite.

With all the movies off XBL it includes DRM that only allows you to keep it for two weeks or something, or 24 hours after you first play it.

It depends on the cause of the three rings (the towel won't fix a broken DVD drive).
But it usually does work if it is an overheating issue. But it is only a temporary fix and you will have to keep doing it because the three rings will return.

O well in that case I may do it just to watch it in HD if it is just $4-5 since my Dad has been wanting to see this since it came out.
I still wish I could keep a copy of it though, but for $4-5 it beats buying it as of now. And it has been out of stock at my blockbuster since it was released.

besides, I was originally planning on picking up the 360 shortly before Halo came out. I got the elite earlier than planned because they kept selling out. Don't matter, I only spent $100 out of my own pocket if I remember right. rest of the money came from gift cards and bday money.
Now where to use my next $50 gift card.

In the next week or so I'll have it hooked up. I gotta start practicing Halo again. I don't want to get owned the day of Halo 3 release.

Where's my black HD drive already
