it started off as high density dvd, but i guess people got use to high definition DVD.
still don't know what to get...I wouldn't like paying for online play though... especially for GTA4... but paying for it will filter out all the little immature kids that play the game... but after a while of playing it would end up costing the same as buying the PS3...
decisions decisions...
leaning towards PS3... blueray player...
I used/use my PS2 as a dvd player... cuts down on the clutter of having another DVD player apart from my gaming console... then again PC to TV hookup isn't bad either...I OWN PAGE 2 muhahahaha... :pagewhore:

I think it's a great idea and value that my PS3 comes with a Blu-ray player as it saves me the trouble and money of having to by a stand alone player especially since blue-ray players are still expensive. As far as the PS2 dvd player it was crap the PS3 blu-ray player is good quality.

My 360 IS my DVD player.
I know that the drive does make noise sometimes, and I've read a lot of people complain about it...but I used my 360 as my sole dvd player for 2 years and I can't remember once actually noticing it making any noise while I was watching something. I watch a ton of movies too.

I can see why you got frustrated. Most of the information I read on xbscene and other places was out of date.
I ended up finding a good video series on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4PWX5NaOFs
The hardest thing for me was building the USB to Xbox cable and I also needed to buy a memory stick that was compatible with the Xbox. You can find all the software that those guys used on bittorrent or they give you a website.
Right now I'm running UnleashX but I may change that to Media Center. I used Splinter Cell to do the exploit. If you need any help let me know.
