Indeed, as the TL based on the Accord it does make sense. Maybe the 4G TL's base motor will be that of the current TL-S.

Is it just me or does the front end of the coupe look a little like the Scion TC? Especially the grill. Overall, it's a pretty decent looking car. The design of the accords have always been pretty consistent.

There are no HID's in both the Accord coupe and sedan right?

I personally think that HID's would look sweet with the Accord coupe though.

It sort of reminds me of the Aura too...which is actually the best looking non-premium sedan from the GM camp (mainly due to its Euro heritage).

i really don't think that the next JDM or European Accord will look nothing like this because the Euro would laugh at how big and odd shaped it would me probably.

I always thought that the Sonata took the 3G TL up front and took the current Accord sedan's rear.

Hyundai's don't have a bit of originality in them, so it shouldn't be a surprise that there are similarities. Not that any of the car companies are all that original anymore, but Hyundai has to be the most blatant. Come to think of it, my Dell monitor looks a lot like my Mag monitor. Must have copied Dell.

well the sonata's rear reminds me of the ugly 03-05 Accord sedan, which Hyundai copied Honda with. now, Honda comes back and copies the Sonata's styling kind of in the 08 Accord sedan. what goes around comes around

I'm sick and tired of hearing the type of comments "this car copying that car". For most cars, especially for family sedans, there isn't a lot you can do with the styling, and every design will have some similarity with another vehicle, which may have taken some design cues from another one.

Just because of some similarities and that you have photos to show, it doesn't say jack about the design of one particular car. You have to look at the overall design of the car and see how various elements are integrated and contribute to the overall impression. Comparing the grille or lights from two cars is pointless!

That aside, let's wait until we see the car in person. I think the Hofmeister kink adoption will go quite nicely on this vehicle.

Indeed. Your point well taken TMQ. The 3G Taurus was an original design taking cues from no other make and that did not go over well with the buying public. So, there is bound to be some styling similarities between different makes of cars in the same class.

well.. it's just poor choice of words...
people normally meant "it reminds me of..." rather than straight copying from another car

and i'm not sure about there aren't a lot you can do with the styling...
it's like saying there aren't much variety in writing a song and then making similar song from another song writer
time is changing and so is the trend..
obviously, you aren't gonna say cars in the 80's and 21st century look anything alike
you can't say one company is copying another one, but seriously, some cars do look alike and that's the whole point here..

I think you're over-generalizing, and it doesn't work. Songs don't have as many limits, there is greater opportunity for freedom of expression.

With cars, you really can only do so much. Doors for example...how many can you have? 2, at most, 4. You need door handles to open those doors, how much can you do with those that'll make them durable, stylish, and most importantly, usable? What about headlights? What kinds of shapes can you do? Make them too difficult to copy and the production itself becomes a nightmare.

And that's just the design process, now you have to factor in regulations. Does it meet crash test standards?

These are things that manufacturers have to think about.

Wow, just saw the undisguised pictures. It looks like a last-gen BMW 3 series with the character crease down the sides and the look of the C-pillar.

To me, it is heads above the look of the FUGLY 7G Accord.

I. would. hit. that.

I wouldn't trade down from the RL for that, but that does look good.

If only we had an advance look at the 4G TL.......will it be worth trading in the RL for?

All I can think to say is, "Hmmm."

Not sure I like it or not. Will probably take some warming up to, and of course seeing it in person is usually different than pictures.

Not really feeling the grille yet, either. Hopefully there will be some good mods, like a RonJon kit, haha.

Saturn Aura anyone?

My only complaint is the chrome on the door handles and the grill, it looks tacky. Also maybe the door handles themselves, since they really stick out from the rest of the car. Probably just the chrome...

I have a feeling that the real thing will look so much nicer - even though I already like the latest pics!

Actually, the front now looks a bit more VW-ish to me, with all the heavy chrome trim...
