The latest number for Accord diesel is 62mpg.

i think part of the gimmick is that it will eventually save you money over a conventional car...

I did my pH.D on hybrids and fuel cells and all I can say is I have been converted to diesels. There is too much academic bias for hybrids and fuel cells because that is where the research money is. UCI is doing it for Toyota, we have them over once a month basically.

Hm well according to that pic I guess it wont be a touch screen unless since I doubt they would put a touch screen that far back. Maybe the same controls used in the RL, MDX, and RDX?

An LCD screen standard for a 20K Accord? That would be a huge thing in this segment. I think the lowest level car that has that now is the new G35. Electronics/LCD must be cheaper than putting a bunch of buttons in the center stack - although that one has plenty.
Probably many other models will inherit this. I thought they'd go the MID route a la TSX.

At this stage, I don't care for that interior.

Nice interior! If this 8th Accord sedan and coupe are really great looking along with the nice interior, what's the point of the Acura division then anymore? I think this may hurt the Acura division in sales.
Well, I've never seen the interior of the Lexus ES350, but it has to be a lot more upscale looking than the Camry.

Boo to the Civic steering wheel making it into the Accord.
And a post from TOV says the EX 4-banger will be making 200hp.

I think that post in TOV could be a joke. Why will the EX 4-banger will only make 19 mpg city?? That's horrible, some V6's get better city mpg than that.

Going by history, I'd say no way any of the engines in the different trims make different HP.
Millage will be an issue since the MY08 numbers will be lower - but at least they'll be more realistic than in the past.

what BMW? It's heavily influenced by MDX. The photos on the Acura website are run by adobe flash and I can't figure out how to link, but there's one shot from the exact same angle as the accord spy photo.
Here's one from Edmunds:
BMW is very different. 5 series:
The current Accord interior still looks nice.

The Nissan line having a keyless start must be a Renault thing - just about every Renault has it.
Maybe Honda did a market study and thinks its customers don't want it.

Now Nissan & Toyota have it.
The public likes it...especially women.
Honda is just being its usual "odd" self.

I actually couldn't care less about having a keyless start. Wasn't there just a thread around where Nissan owners couldn't start their cars because the "keys" were disabled or something? I think I'd rather just have a regular key....

.....instead wish they would spend more time on more torque/hp, better rebound control, six speed a/t or smoother manual trans, better wheels etc….of course I am a dinosaur as I think the nav is superfluous

The keyless thing is a gimmick ... and everyone likes a gimmick. But will it make or break the deal? I think that for a $20k car, a keyless start won't be the deciding factor ... but not having curtain airbags not being an option, good fuel economy (ie >30 mpg highway) or quiet interior would.
But I do think that Honda needs to keep up with the Joneses (eventually) with things like keyless start ... starting with the entire Acura line so it can trickle down to the Honda line.
Edit: Holy crap! A EX-L V6 Accord costs $27k! That's as much as a TSX! I guess that's if you want a 6-cyl vs 4-cyl ... I was a little surprised by that.
