the end of the coupe reminds me of the toyota solora... its too slanted and the rear 3/4 shots compared to the concept are close, probably doesn't look right because they taped off the tail lights and throws the perception off

i think this car should be hot, can't wait for it to come out so i can trade in (probably going to wait for the first 2 years to pass before i buy).

You know, I do have to agree with you that the rear end of the coupe looks like a Solara... I laugh every time I see that car... it's got a bloated body, those silly curves on the side, and then those skinny little wheels which are completely out of proportion to its obese body.... it looks like a gigantic turtle on little wheels!!! LOL! Thank goodness it's just the rear design that is similar and then the similarities stop right there! LOL

Otherwise, I love the Accord coupe. Now, I like how the new sedan still has the registration plate above the bumper. That is much more Honda-like and much better looking, IMHO.

I'm not really liking the rear end, and the style just seems sooo conservative and boring. I'll try to withhold judgment till the tape is off and I see it in person, though.

Seems like the lines of the rear / trunk take cues from the Accord of 2 generations ago. That's an OK thing. However, it seems the rear tail lights stick out past the sheet metal like that of the Altima. Not sure if I'm feeling that!

Otherwise, I think this car looks far classier than the current gen Accord. Knowing Honda, the high end model (EX) will have the HID option, to mirror that of the coupe. Honda is all about economy of scale -- why built it for 1 model but not have it available for another? It would make sense for the engineers to bring out a base model test mule. That's what most will drive and it won't have to 'wow factor' of a higher end model (ie leather interior, bigger rims, etc) I think Honda will also keep the high offset of rims so people can "transfer" from their current model to this model. (ie my Volks can be slapped on this baby! )

BTW, it was spotted in Ohio!? Why didn't I see it!? LOL
I know you're joking with this ... but I'm curious to know how far Cleveland is from Marysville? I suppose I could mapquest it or google map it.

Why the bubble on the front head light? It looks horrible from certain angles.

Otherwise, a very nice mid size family sedan.

Hm caranddriver said honda is putting a new i-vetc with a 3.5 engine in it. I can only imagine what this means for the TL.

Agreed...that one shot with the headlight bubbled out looks awful. As long as it's not as "bubbly" as the Camry, it should be ok.

There's NO way that it looks like a 5 series. Gas filler door isn't on the same side.

it doesn't really matter IMO.

it kinda does, and it kinda doesn't... the tape really messes up the view of the car... 5 series has more definition...

Hi Derrick,

I believe that Marysville is closer to Columbus than Cleveland... hey, even if the Honda plant is in Cleveland, knowing my luck I am sure that I will never get to see these test vehicles anyway! LOL!!!

BTW, I wonder if this was designed in the Honda California studio? Or is it a Japanese design?

^ You can see they taped up the indentation that goes along the beltline (where the door handles are) ... this is a la the current (4th) gen TL. Trickle down effect? Take some Acura lines and add a little BMW silhouette. BAM! Next gen Accord.

are you saying that Honda is running out of ideas and recycling them?

let's hope that they locked or threw away the molds and design team of the 03-05 Accord sedan.

I don't think the indent down the side profile will be like the TL, but more like the last gen BMW 5-Series. More like a crease.

Yes ... but Honda is no different than any other manufacturer. You have to go really far back to find a truly 'unique' design for a car. So many car companies are doing 'retro' homages to previous models ... borrowing lines from here, there ... everything. Isn't imitation the greatest form of flattery?

I don't think the indent down the side profile will be like the TL, but more like the last gen BMW 5-Series. More like a crease.
Based upon how the camouflage tape is buckling inwards on that test mule, I don't think it's just a crease ... it's more like a crevice!!! (Look at driver's door handle and at gas cap)

I think it's okay... I still like the design of the Camry better. I thought that the new Accord would be significantly nicer looking than the Camry to try and win some Camry buyers over. The rear end looks really boring to me. I hope that they tweak it to add some more detail.

Just looked at it again, and the front and back remind me of the current Hyundai Sonata. The side is definitely 5 series..

super sonata sans projectors...

it still looks nice though. Also, seems to have grown a ridgeline grille.

Umm, BMW has the M5... BMW already had Hondas heart for Breakfast and shat it out... they died.

Not to mention the 5 series gets a few more luxury amenities than the Accord.

Not a good comparison at all...

The very low end 5 series might compare, but that would be a highly stripped down model.

Looks good to me. Accord is the volume seller family sedan for Honda - there is no need for a polarizing design. The 7th gen is quite a failure in exterior design. Just think what increment improvement could do.

From the spys shots, the front and rear are pretty fine to me. The first Accord in a long time to have a grille of some sort.

The side profile is pretty nice. Not quite the well sculpted lines that the Bimmer has, but good enough for me if I want to purchase a midsize, affordable family sedan.

Let's wait for the final version to pass on judgments like 'the worst design i've seen'. Some people don't know what they are talking about.

same here. looks good to me. the front looks a lot like the sonata, which i thought looked like an improved accord.

i agree that's how it is with the auto industry now. designs and cues are taken from each other all the time now.

but it looks good. i'll still have to wait for the official pictures, but it looks promising and and much better than the current gen.

i'm probably in the minority here, but i still prefer the camry se's design...

Oh no, I was not comparing the Accord with the 5 series. I just found it amusing that something about a third of its price can look just so similar and almost as good as the 5 series!

Relax and have a nice day!

"almost as good as the 5 series" put down the crack pipe dude... they are not even comparable. Saying "almost as good" insinuates you think they are comparable or even close to one another.

"relax" why do I need to "relax"? I'm not upset or worked up. I'm just responding to your ridiculous posts.

You have a good day too! And stop using the crack

But ya, the Accord is very nice! But it's light years behind a 5 series in many ways... BMW has better models to compare to the Accord. Perhaps use them instead...

Granted the photoshop'd images do have some aesthetic similarities from the side!

While likely correct, lets not go making too many assumptions about a car that is months from release and first drives. Fact is we know nothing about how good or bad this new Accord will be.

The front reminds of a Caddy and a the rear reminds me of a Hyundai. I'll reserve final judgement when I see it in person, but from the pictures I don't care for it at all.

Well considering that Hyundai ripped ther rear end off of the last Gen Accord, they should look similar.

Assumptions? You're kidding right?!?!?

You too know it'll be nowhere near a M5 or a 540 in sport or luxury, and as usual it won't hold a candle to being a luxury car... Not to mention leaving out the 50/50 weight balance, better brakes, steering feedback/ratio...

It'll be a nice car as the Accord always is, but it's no 5 series... it's not meant to compete in that arena anyway. So this conversation as I was pointing out to the other guy is moot.

Again, I'm sure the Accord will be nice as it always is... but it's more like a 3 series than a 5. And even then it has a LOT to do to catch up to a loaded 335i

Regardless if both the Accord coupe and sedan are ugly to all of you, the Americans are going to buy it because it's an Accord. Also, because it's the best bank for the buck with reliability, quality, and value.

Why no official pictures of an actual next gen TSX or TL yet? I know you guys are going to say Sports4 concept, but has Honda from their own mouths said that will be for sure the bodystyle of the TSX?
